This system integrates modern wireless communication technology, the ...This paper introduces the design and implementation of sea-water temperature auto-monitoring system based on General Packet Radio Service （GPRS）. This system integrates modern wireless communication technology, the signal gathering technology and computer network technology. MSC1210 microcontroller is used in data collection device in order to make system accurate and fast. In addition, wireless and Internet technologies are used for transferring and displaying collected field data. A prototype system has been completed and tested in field trials. The results proved the feasibility and usefulness of this system for monitoring the temperature. By using this system, a lot of resources and money can be saved.展开更多

The new policy which shares the reserve ship which uses the traffic ship with a capacity of 12 in addition to cooperation not only with the usual liner route entrepreneur but an occasional service entrepreneur or a passenger ship, and operates until now was proposed, and the validity was shown. In this paper, as approach of the beginning for materializing the policy, it is focused on the island of the inland sea where especially population is small, and the new policy using the craft from which Japan Coast Guard retired was proposed. By this, it does not depend only on the revenue grant money by the country or a municipal corporation, but maintenance of a remote island route is attained.展开更多
In recent years, industrial and service organizations have invested in improvement projects with emphasis on increasing the performance of processes regarding to the production of manufactured goods and services, appl...In recent years, industrial and service organizations have invested in improvement projects with emphasis on increasing the performance of processes regarding to the production of manufactured goods and services, applying techniques to optimize production time in order to minimize the restrictive effects of the funds invested in processing or obtaining processes in order to reduce the losses of general scope. This paper discusses the impact of the innovation in making use of business intelligence （BI） concepts about production records of a publishing area in a higher education institution （HEI） that promotes distance education （DE） in Brazil, helping the industry in their managements decisions, having a target minimize time on production of learning material through more effective control with the use of cubes in the form of reports for metric queries of delivery delays and metrics on the production tasks financial values, and filtering the processed information so that managers can view information from various angles and managerial perspectives. The objectives of this paper are to demonstrate the impact on using BI concepts in the process of an editorial department of a HEI focusing on the development of teaching materials for the courses of DE and identify the financial cost-benefit ratio for the HEI with the deploying BI in a software fee platform in its publishing department. Under the co-Corrtautational Diffie-Helknan （CDH） assumption, the proposed scheme is proved to be secure in the random oracle model. This mixed methods study investigated language learning motivation in an one-year e-learning course for technological university students to bridge the geographical divide between students on industrial placements whe...This mixed methods study investigated language learning motivation in an one-year e-learning course for technological university students to bridge the geographical divide between students on industrial placements when studying graded readers using an e-learning course to improve their English competence and to pass the General English Proficiency Test. Data was collected through questionnaires and course feedback. The results of this study extend Gardner＇s socio-educational model in an e-learning environment by adding the new category, Computer Attitudes, which was proven to be highly correlated with Motivation. Although the low proficiency English students had good computer skills, their habits of using the computer for entertainment and their lack of the skill of ＂technological communication efficacy＂ caused increased anxiety when using computers and thus provided them with a lower computer confidence over time. Consequently, it is recommended that sound e-learning training should be provided to all of the students prior to embarking on an e-leaning course so that these learners can benefit from online language learning in the future.展开更多
Mining industry is a substantial consumer of the energy indispensable to power mining and mineral processing equipment and processes. As more and more mine operations move to remote locations, the access to reliable, ...Mining industry is a substantial consumer of the energy indispensable to power mining and mineral processing equipment and processes. As more and more mine operations move to remote locations, the access to reliable, secure and environment friendly energy sources becomes a key concern. At present, a great majority of remote mines relies heavily on diesel fuel that has to be transported over long distances. In this context, some of the renewable energy sources such as wind power or solar energy seem to provide potentially interesting and viable alternatives. Mine operations, however, have a very particular character, much different from other industries and from other potential applications of renewable power sources. This paper presents operational conditions of some mining operations, particularly those in remote regions, in the context of their energy needs. The authors analyse current and future capacities to decrease a reliance of remote mines on conventional fuels and energy. The paper also analyses and discusses the conditions to be met by alternative energy sources so that they might become a viable alternative for remote mining operations.展开更多
