Quality prediction of batch process using the global-local discriminant analysis based Gaussian process regression model

The conventional single model strategy may be ill- suited due to the multiplicity of operation phases and system uncertainty. A novel global-local discriminant analysis (GLDA) based Gaussian process regression (GPR) approach is developed for the quality prediction of nonlinear and multiphase batch processes. After the collected data is preprocessed through batchwise unfolding, the hidden Markov model (HMM) is applied to identify different operation phases. A GLDA algorithm is also presented to extract the appropriate process variables highly correlated with the quality variables, decreasing the complexity of modeling. Besides, the multiple local GPR models are built in the reduced- dimensional space for all the identified operation phases. Furthermore, the HMM-based state estimation is used to classify each measurement sample of a test batch into a corresponding phase with the maximal likelihood estimation. Therefore, the local GPR model with respect to specific phase is selected for online prediction. The effectiveness of the proposed prediction approach is demonstrated through the multiphase penicillin fermentation process. The comparison results show that the proposed GLDA-GPR approach is superior to the regular GPR model and the GPR based on HMM (HMM-GPR) model. 展开更多

Sinocalycanthus chmensis, an endangered species endemic to China, is cultivated as an omamental landscape tree in China. However, S. chinensis, Chimonanthus species and Calycanthusfloridus are difficult to be distinguished in seedling market because of their similar morphological characters. In this study, ISSR (inter-simple sequence repeats) were applied to detect S. chinensis from its closely related species. A unique 748-bp band was found in all accessions of S. chinensis. SCAR (sequence characterized amplified regions) markers were created by cloning and sequencing the specific band, and designing a pair of primers to amplify the band of 748 bp. Diagnostic PCRs were performed using the primer pair with the total DNAs ofS. chinensis, Chimonanthus species and C. floridus as templates, with only S. chinensis being able to be amplified. This amplification is not only rapid (results can be obtained in less than 3 h), but is also easy to perform. Hence it is a feasible method for identifying S. chmensis in seedling market. 展开更多

Batch processes are important in chemical industry,in which operators usually play a major role and hazards may arise by their inadvertent acts.In this paper,based on hazard and operability study and concept of qualitative simulation,an automatic method for adverse consequence identification for potential maloperation is proposed.The qualitative model for production process is expressed by a novel directed graph.Possible operation deviations from normal operating procedure are identified systematically by using a group of guidewords.The proposed algorithm is used for qualitative simulation of batch processes to identify the effects of maloperations.The method is illustrated with a simple batch process and a batch reaction process.The results show that batch processes can be simulated qualitatively and hazards can be identified for operating procedures including maloperations.After analysis for possible plant maloperations,some measures can be taken to avoid maloperations or reduce losses resulted from maloperations. 展开更多

[Objective] This study aimed to establish an identification system for drought-resistance in wheat by using near-infrared diffuse reflectance spectroscopy. [Method] In 2006-2007, 36 wheat varieties with different drought resistance were selected and were classified according to their drought resistance grades determined by the Technical Specification of Identification and Evaluation for Drought Resistance in Wheat (GB/T 21127-2007). In addition, the harvested wheat seed samples were spectrally analyzed with FOSS NIRSystems5000 near-infrared spectrum analyzer for grain quality (full spectrum analyzer) and then the forecasted regression equations were established. [Result] After the establishment of a database and validation, dis- criminated functions were obtained. The determination coefficient (RSQ) and coeffi- cients of determination for cross validation (1-VR) in the discriminant function built with seed samples from water stress area were 0.846 0 and 0.781 8, respectively, which indicated that the consistency between drought resistance and spectral charac- teristics in wheat varieties was good, and there was high correlation between the near-infrared diffuse reflectance spectra of seeds and the drought resistance in wheat. [Conclusiou] Under water stress condition, it is feasible to establish a conve- nient, rapid and no-damage identification system for the drought resistance in wheat by using the near-infrared diffuse reflectance spectrum technique to scan wheat seeds. 展开更多

The second modification can improve its efficiency when the attack on messages occurs because it can detect the attack quickly by replacing the centralized authentication in origical IKE protocol with immediate authentication. During this process, color of grape skin is the most obvious change. The molecular mechanism for the ripening of grape(a non-climacteric fruit, which ripens without ethylene and respiration bursts) is still unclear. Although numerous studies have been done on the changes in the contents of metabolites during grape ripening, the differentially expressed genes at veraison and maturity stages have not been systematically analyzed. In this study, 1 524 genes that are significantly differentially expressed in grape(Pinot Noir) skin at veraison and maturity stages were identified, and a co-expression network of these genes was built. Some of the eight co-expression modules we identified may be closely related to the synthesis or metabolism of anthocyanins, sugar acids, and other flavor substances. The transcription factor families WRKY, b ZIP, HSF and WOX may play an important role in the regulation of anthocyanin synthesis or metabolism. The results provide a foundation for further study of the molecular mechanism of grape ripening. 展开更多

An integrated method for identifying the propagation of multi-loop process oscillations and their source location is proposed in this paper. Oscillatory process loop variables are automatically selected based on the component-related ratio index and a mixing matrix, both of which are obtained in data preprocessing by spectral independent component analysis. The complex causality among oscillatory process variables is then revealed by Granger causality test and is visualized in the form of causality diagram. The simplification of causal connectivity in the diagram is performed according to the understanding of process knowledge and the final simplest causality diagram, which represents the main oscillation propagation paths, is achieved by the automated cutting-off thresh-old search, with which less significant causality pathways are filtered out. The source of the oscillation disturbance can be identified intuitively through the final causality diagram. Both simulated and real plant data tests are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed method. 展开更多

In order to precisely predict the hazard degree of goaf(HDG), the RS-TOPSIS model was built based on the results of expert investigation. To evaluate the HDG in the underground mine, five structure size factors, i.e. goaf span, exposed area, goaf height, goaf depth, and pillar width, were selected as the evaluation indexes. And based on rough dependability in rough set(RS)theory, the weights of evaluation indexes were identified by calculating rough dependability between evaluation indexes and evaluation results. Fourty goafs in some mines of western China, whose indexes parameters were measured by cavity monitoring system(CMS), were taken as evaluation objects. In addition, the characteristic parameters of five grades' typical goafs were built according to the interval limits value of single index evaluation. Then, using the technique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution(TOPSIS), five-category classification of HDG was realized based on closeness degree, and the HDG was also identified.Results show that the five-category identification of mine goafs could be realized by RS-TOPSIS method, based on the structure-scale-effect. The classification results are consistent with those of numerical simulation based on stress and displacement,while the coincidence rate is up to 92.5%. Furthermore, the results are more conservative to safety evaluation than numerical simulation, thus demonstrating that the proposed method is more easier, reasonable and more definite for HDG identification. 展开更多

In this work, sucrose utilizing microbes from soil were screened to evaluate their ability for accumulation of biopolymer of polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA). Among 72 isolates were transferred to mineral salt medium (MSM), 33 strains can be grown on sucrose agar medium. However, only one strain showed a strong black color for Sudan Black and gave positive result for Nile blue A. Identification by 16S rDNA nucleotide sequence homology of the isolate showed very closely to Hydrogenophaga sp. (99% identify). To consider PHA production, the isolate was grown in the medium containing sucrose as a sole carbon under controlled conditions of 35 ℃ and at pH 7. Maximum dry cell weight (DCW) and PHA production were obtained at 3.61 g/L and 2.41 g/L after 36 and 42 h batch fermentation. Sucrose uptake measured in term of total organic carbon (TOC) showed at 14.73 g within 48 h. The highest PHA was 68.15% (gPHA/gDCW) giving maximum PHA yield (YP/s) of 0.17 (gPHA/gs ) and a productivity of 0.057 gPHA/L.h. This highlights the potential of microbial resources in soil environment and may be an exploitable application for the industrial production of PHA. 展开更多

Data were collected from all related agencies. The results of this research have showed that executive process of forensic science is used to investigate the crime in three southern border provinces that can be divided the operations into three main issues as following: crime scene examination, evidence testing, autopsy in case of crime scene, and factors which affect forensic work for using in criminal investigation in three southern border provinces of police practitioners. Objective: To identify eukaryotic expression vector of human bone morphogenetic protein 2 pcDNA3/BMP2, verify its expression in transfected human mesenchymal stem cells (hMSCs) and the effect on hMSCs differentiation. Methods: The BMP2 gene was cloned into a eukaryotic expression vector pcDNA3. Transfected the recombinant into hMSCs by liposome. Immunnohistochemistry and in situ hybridization methods were used to identify the expression of BMP2 mRNA and protein; ALP and Von Kossa stains were performed to identify the BMP2 gene differentiated effect on the hMSCs. Results: The pcDNA3/BMP2 fragments were as large as theory. BMP2 mRNA and protein were expressed and synthesized both in 48 h and 4 weeks after transfection, the ALP and Ca deposit exhibition, which marked the osteogenic lineage of hMSCs, were enhanced and sped. Conclusion: Transfection of pcDNA3/BMP2 is able to provide transient and persistent expression in hMSCs, and promote the MSCs differentiation to osteogenic lineage. 展开更多

Sustainability is popularly defined as meeting the needs of the present generation without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. Social, economic and environmental parameters are most commonly accepted as the three pillars of sustainability. In this paper, various sustainability indicators have been identified during the construction stage for elevated transportation corridors and thereafter classified under various categories. Using fuzzy VIKOR technique, sustainability evaluation of transportation corridors is made on two selected project sites of two different government organizations using various identified sustainability indicators, i.e., a 3.2-km long elevated road project under construction from Vikaspuri to Meerabagh in West Delhi by PWD (Public Works Department) and the metro rail elevated corridor (part) from Punjabi Bagh to Mayapuri as a part of Phase 3, Line 7 by DMRC (Delhi Metro Rail Corporation). The study is made at both sites in the midst of the construction period and it is identified that during the construction stage, the sustainability of these transportation corridors is just not limited to three pillars, but in actuality, it is much beyond that. From the study, it is inferred that the metro rail elevated corridor is a more sustainable corridor, in the context of the identified sustainability indicators. 展开更多

Two unknown states can be unambiguously distinguished by a universal programmable discriminator, which has been widely discussed in previous works and the optimal solution has also been obtained. In this paper, we investigate the programmable unambiguous discriminator between two unknown "latitudinal" states, which lie in a subspace of the total state space. By equivalence of unknown pure states to known average mixed states, the optimal solution for this problem is systematically derived, and the analytical success probabilities for the optimal unambiguous discrimination are obtained. It is beyond one's expectation that the optimal setting for the programmable unambiguous discrimination between two unknown "latitudinal" states is the same as that for the universal ones. The results in this work can be used for the realization of the programmable discriminator in laboratory. 展开更多
