Understanding the steady mechanism of biomass smoldering plays a great role in the utilization of smoldering technology.In this study numerical analysis of steady smoldering of biomass rods was performed.A two-dimensional(2D)steady model taking into account both char oxidation and pyrolysis was developed on the basis of a calculated propagation velocity according to empirical correlation.The model was validated against the smoldering experiment of biomass rods under natural conditions,and the maximum error was smaller than 31%.Parameter sensitivity analysis found that propagation velocity decreases significantly while oxidation area and pyrolysis zone increase significantly with the increasing diameter of rod fuel. 展开更多

The Influence of Plant Diversity and Functional Composition on Ecosystem Stability of Four Stipa Communities in the Inner Mongolia Plateau 被引量:65

The main purpose of this study was to examine the effects of plant species diversity and functional composition (the identity of the plant functional groups) on ecosystem stability of Stipa, communities in the Inner Mongolia Plateau. The research work was based on a 12-year study (from 1984 to 1995) of species abundance, diversity, and primary productivity of four Stipa communities, i.e. S. baicalensis Roshev., S. grandis P. Smirn., S, krylovii Roshev., and S. klemenzii Roshev. respectively. The Shnnon-Wiener index was used as a measurement of plant diversity, while functional composition was used to differentiate the functional groups that were included in the communities. The plant species of four Stipa communities were classified into functional groups based on the differences in life forms and ecological groups, which influence their performance in resource requirements, seasonality of growth, tolerance to water stress, and life history. Plant species were classified into five functional groups based on their differences in life form, shrubs and half shrubs, perennial bunch grasses, perennial rhizome grasses, forbs, annuals and biennials. Based on their differences in water requirement these species were classified into four functional groups: xerads, intermediate xerads, intermediate mesophytes, and mesophytes. The results showed: 1) Plant species diversity stabilized ecosystem processes. Shannon-Wiener index were 2.401 4, 2.172 0, 1.624 8, 0.354 3 from S. baicalensis community to S. grandis, S. krylovii and S. klemenzii community, respectively. The dynamics of the aboveground net primary productivity (ANPP) for a 12-year's period showed a reverse pattern, the coefficients of variation of the four communities were 21.94%, 20.63%, 29.21% and 39.72% respectively. 2) The Life form functional group component of diversity was a greater determinant of the ecosystem processes than the species component of diversity. The effects of perennial bunch grasses, perennial rhizome grasses and forbs on community stability were highly significant. 3) The ecological group component of diversity was also a great determinant of the ecosystem processes. The effects of xerads, intermediate xerads, and mesophytes on community stability were also very strong. 展开更多

Nanocrystalline nickel coating was prepared by flexible friction assisted electrodeposition technology in an additive-free Watts bath.The coating consists of massive equiaxial crystals with an average grain size of about 24 nm and exhibits a(111) preferred orientation.The differential scanning calorimetry(DSC) analysis of nanocrystalline nickel demonstrates that the peak temperature of rapid grain growth is about 285.4 °C,and the peak temperature of grain growth towards equilibrium is around 431.5 °C.The isochronous annealing results reveal that abnormal grain growth behavior is not observed in nanocrystalline nickel without sulfur-containing.The thermal stability of the deposition was improved due to its initial microstructure of the as-deposited nickel and a certain amount of annealing nano-twins with low-energy,which reduces the driving force for grain growth.Consequently,the coating shows a low residual tensile stress of about 50 MPa and a high microhardness of HV 400 at the annealing temperature of 450 °C. 展开更多

Based on secular fixed_site data in the artificial sand_fixing vegetation district at the southeast fringe of the Tengger Desert, the formative characteristics of soil microbiotic crusts and its influences on vegetation dynamics were analyzed. Once sand barrier and artificial vegetation have stabilized the surface of the sifting sand, could form aeolian deposition crust and then evolve into algae_dominated crust. Such processes result from the interactions of physical effects of atmospheric dust and silt deposition on sand surface, sinking and raindrop impact, and soil microorganism activities. Under the condition of less than 200 mm precipitation, the presence of microbiotic crust changes the soil hydraulic conductivity, alters the temporal and spatial distribution of the limited precipitation in sand layer and leads to the decline of deep_rooted shrubs. The development of microbiotic crust and subsurface soil affects the plant growth and seed rain distribution, as a result, the diversity of plant species gradually tend to become saturated and finally affects the vegetation stability. 展开更多

To discuss the relationship between stability and bullwhip effect in the supply chain system,a basic model in a production-inventory control system is developed using difference equations.Z-transform techniques are applied to investigate the production ordering and inventory dynamics.For the two operational regimes of sufficient inventory coverage and insufficient inventory coverage,the scope of decision parameters which make the system stable or instable is investigated.Under two operational regimes and the actual system,production release rates,stability/instability and bullwhip effect in the stable region and instable region are examined based on different demand functions,and then the numerical simulation results are given.The results show that reasonable choices of fractional adjustment of inventory and supply line can make the system stable and decrease bullwhip effect.It is summarized that the piecewise linearization based on the stability analysis approach is a valid approximation to the analysis of production-inventory ordering systems with nonlinearities.Some interesting results are obtained and they have important implications for improving inventory and order decisions in supply chain systems. 展开更多

Considering the self-excited and forced vibrations in high-speed milling processes, a novel method for dynamic optimization of system stability is used to determine the cutting parameters and structural parameters by increasing the chatter free material removal rate (CF-MRR) and surface finish. The method is hased on the theory of the chatter stability and the semi-bandwidth of the resonant region. The objective function of the method is material removal rate(MRR),the constraints are chatter stability and surface finish, and the optimizing variables are cutting and structural parameters. The optimization procedure is stated. The method is applied to a milling system and CF-MRR is increased 18.86%. It is shown that the influences of the chatter stability and the resonance are simultaneously considered in the dynamic optimization of the milling system for increasing CF-MRR and the surface finish. 展开更多

Extracellular manganese peroxidases (MnPs) produced by native and mutant strains of Trametes versicolor IBL‐04 (EB‐60, EMS‐90) were purified by ammonium sulphate precipitation and dialysis, followed by ion‐exchange and gel‐permeation chromatography. The purified enzymes elucidated a single band in the 43‐kDa region on sodium dodecyl sulphate‐polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. The optimum pH and temperature of the purified enzymes were found to be 5.0 and 40 °C, respec‐tively. Mutant strain MnPs exhibited a broader active pH range and higher thermal stability than native MnP. Purified MnPs from selected mutants showed almost identical properties to native MnP in electrophoresis, steady‐state kinetics, and metal ion and endocrine‐disrupting compound (EDC) degradation efficiency. Although the fastest reaction rates occurred with Mn2+, MnPs displayed the highest affinity for ABTS, methoxyhydroquinone, 4‐aminophenol and reactive dyes. MnP activity was significantly enhanced by Mn2+and Cu2+, and inhibited in the presence of Zn2+, Fe2+, ethylene‐diaminetetraacetic acid and cysteine to various extents, with Hg2+ as the most potent inhibitory agent. MnPs from all sources efficiently catalyzed the degradation of the EDCs, nonylphenol and triclosan, removing over 80%after 3 h of treatment, which was further increased up to 90%in the presence of MnP‐mediator system. The properties of T. versicolor MnPs, such as high pH and ther‐mal stability, as well as unique Michaelis‐Menten kinetic parameters and high EDC elimination effi‐ciency, render them promising candidates for industrial exploitation. 展开更多

The first layer describes the indi-vidual flocking behavior to the local goal position (the center of minimal circumcircle decided by the neighbors in the positive visual set of individuals) resulting from the individual motion to one or two farthest neighbors in its positive visual set; the second layer describes the emergent aggregating swarm behavior resulting from the individual motion to its local goal position. The scale of the swarm will not be limited because only local individual information is used for modelling in the two-layer topology. We study the stability properties of the swarm emergent behavior based on Lyapunov stability theory. Simulations showed that the swarm system can converge to goal regions while maintaining cohesiveness. 展开更多

By artificially acclimating and cultivating strains attached onto carbon surface, the selected strains can be intensified for their degradation to organic matters. The research indicates that ozonation process increases AOC concentration considerably, however, it is beneficial to microdegradation. Temperature and empty bed contact time ( TEBC ) are two important factors affecting microbiology. From 14 to 27 ℃, intensified biological carbon can remove AOC better compared with granular activated carbon (GAC). Under identical TERC, intensified technique increases more than 10% AOC reduction. 展开更多

Trinucleotide repeats are located in non-coding and coding regions of the genome. Studies of bacteria, yeast, mice and man have helped to unravel some features of the mechanism of trinucleotide expansion. Looped DNA structures comprising trinucleotide repeats are processed during replication and/or repair to generate deletions or expansions. Most in vivo data are consistent with a model in which expansion and deletion occur by different mechanisms. In mammals, microsatellite instability is complex and appears to be influenced by genetic, epigenetic and developmental factors. 展开更多

Thethermal stability and the kinetics of grain growth of nanocrystalline Mg-6Al-1Zn and Mg-6Al-1Zn-1Si alloys prepared via mechanical alloying were investigated. It started with elemental powders, using a variety of analytical techniques including differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and energy dispersive spectrometry. The kinetics of grain growth in isothermal annealing was investigated. The XRD results show that, although the grain sizes of both material systems increase as the annealing temperature rises, the Si-containing system displays a relatively smaller grain size, i.e., 60 nm compared with 72 nm in Mg-6Al-1Zn system, after being exposed to 350 ℃ for 1 h. The second-phase intermetallic particle Mg2Si formed during the isothermal annealing of Mg-6Al-1Zn-1Si system could influence not only the activation energy but also the exponent of kinetic equation. Higher hardness values obtained in the Si-containing system would be due to the formation of Mg2Si intermetallic phase. 展开更多

It put forward an index system for assessing road-region ecosystem stability as a reference. On the basis of detailed analyze of the multidimensional space of road-region ecosystem, a new multi-objective comprehensive evaluation method for road-region ecosystem stability is presented and a calculation tormula for multi-objective comprehensive level of road-region ecosystem stability. It is proved that the stable shapes of crystal growth face and dissolution face do exist, which are suitably shaped curves with their upper parts inclined backward properly.The stable shapes of crystal growth faces and dissolution faces are calculated for various values of parameters, Ra, Pr and Sc. It is shown that the stronger the convection relative to the diffusion in solution is, the more backward the upperparts of the stable crystal growth face and dissolution face are inclined. The orientation and the shape of dissolution face hardly affect the stable shape of crystal growth face and vice versa. 展开更多

The pyrolysis of phytoremediated giant reed(Arundo donax)biomass could cause secondary pollution of heavy metals.The stabilization of heavy metals in the pyrolysis process with external materials such as Al2O3,CaCO3,FeCl3and NaOH,wasstudied.The results showed that37%As and97%Cd in biochar were stabilized when giant reed powder was pyrolyzed at250°Cwith5%Al2O3for2h.Furthermore,59%Pb in biochar was stabilized at400°C with5%CaCO3for1h.Under biochar produced inoptimized pyrolysis conditions,Cd mainly existed in a residual fraction,while Pb and As mainly existed in oxidizable fraction inBCR analysis.In XRD analysis,As was only found in Ca2As2O7;Cd in biochar mainly existed in Cd(AlCl4)2,CdPbO3or CdSO3;and Pb mainly existed as Pb3O2SO4. 展开更多
