The damping properties were improved by preparing Al matrix composites reinforced with glass cenospheres through the pressure infiltration method.Transmission electron microscopy and scanning electron microscopy were employed to characterize the microstructure of the composites.The low-frequency damping properties were examined by using a dynamic mechanical thermal analyzer,aiming at exploring the changing trend of damping capacity with strain,temperature,and frequency.The findings demonstrated that the damping value rose as temperature and strain increased,with a maximum value of 0.15.Additionally,the damping value decreased when the frequency increased.Dislocation damping under strain and interfacial damping under temperature served as the two primary damping mechanisms.The increase in the density of dislocation strong pinning points following heat treatment reduced the damping value,which was attributed to the heat treatment enhancement of the interfacial bonding force of the composites. 展开更多

The experimental study of natural convection in allglass evacuated tube solar collectors is performed through the experimental platform of the solar-assisted fuel cell system.The experimental facility includes solar collectors with different length and diameter tubes, different coating materials, and with / without guide plates, respectively. Threedimensional mathematical models on natural and forced convections in the solar collectors are established and the experimental data is validated by field synergy and entransy principles. The results of natural convection show that the water temperature increases and thermal efficiency decreases gradually with the evacuated tube length. The thermal efficiency increases when absorption rates increase from 0. 95 to 1. 0 and emission rates decrease from 0. 16 to 0. 06. The thermal efficiency of solar collectors is increased after being equipped with the guide plate, which is attributed to the disappearance of the mixed flowand the enhancement of the heat transfer at the bottom of the evacuated tube. The results of forced convertion indicate that the Reynolds, Nusselt and entransy increments of the horizontal double collectors are higher than those of the vertical single collector while the entransy dissipation is lower than that of the vertical single collector. It is concluded that the solar collectors with guide plates are suitable for natural convection while the double horizontal collectors are suitable for forced convection in the thermal field of solar-assisted fuel cell systems with lowand medium temperatures. 展开更多

To explore the energy saving effect of building envelope, the experiments were carried out through a comparison of basic cubicle in summer. Experiments show that if energy efficiency measures are applied only in the external walls and windows, the energy saving cubicles have an average energy efficiency ratio of 27.75% and 27.05% when the air change rates are 1.1 and 1.4 h-1 in summer, with both values being over the standard target value by 25%. And the indoor air temperature of the energy saving cubicle is below that of the basic cubicle. The daily mean temperature difference between the interior surface of insulation wall and no insulation reaches 1.47℃, and the mean temperature difference is up to 8.52℃ between the interior surface and exterior surface of insulating glass and single glass. The two cubicles were simulated for energy consumption using VisualDOE4.0 software under real weather conditions in summer. The results show that the mean deviation is 10.02% between experimental and simulated energy efficiency ratio. The correctness and validity of simulation results of the VisualDOE4.0 software are proved. 展开更多

In this paper, a Euler-Lagrangian particle/fluid film/VOF coupled multiphase flow model is presented. Numerical simulations are conducted, and the rainwater accumulation and flow characteristics over two types of windshields are studied based on the presented model. The results show that an uneven water film is formed over the windshield, with rain water accumulation occurring for the concave windshield but not for the convex windshield. At low speeds, the average fluid-film thickness for a concave windshield is larger than that of a convex windshield;however, a minor difference occurs between these two values at high speeds, and a critical velocity is observed for the two types of windshields. When the train velocity is less than the critical velocity, the fluid film at the lower part of the windshield and the train nose flows downward, and beyond the critical velocity, the fluid film over the entire windshield and train nose flows upward. 展开更多

Evacuated glass tube collectors with U-tubes inside are less prone to leakages than the all-glass or the heat pipe types. U-tube solar water heaters suspended on walls and balconies could help overcome present day roof space restriction and increasing apartment-style housing. As such, their performance would depend upon its orientation when mounted in a vertical position. This paper reports the results of outdoor tests conducted on natural convection U-tube solar water heaters oriented towards different directions. Long and short term test procedures were employed to allow us to compare their performances as if they were tested simultaneously side-by-side. 展开更多

To fabricate thick-walled hollow glass microspheres (HGMs) for inertial confinement fusion (ICF) targets by sol-gel technology, we investigated the effects of glass composition, blowing agent, refining temperature, pressure and composition of furnace atmosphere on the wall thickness of HGMs by numerical simulation and experiments. The results showed that the residence times of the thick-walled HGMs in the encapsulating and refining phases decreased with the increase of wall thickness of HGMs. As a response to this challenge, glass composition must be optimized with the object of high surface tension and low viscosity at refining temperature, and the blowing agents with high decomposition temperature should be used, furthermore the concentration of blowing agents in gel particles must also be precisely controlled. The higher volume fraction of argon gas in the furnace atmosphere, the thicker the wall of HGMs. Due to the limited operating range of furnace atmosphere pressure, changing furnace atmosphere pressure could not significantly increase the wall thickness of HGMs. Although increasing refin- ing temperature can improve the yield of high quality HGMs, a higher furnace atmosphere temperature may lead to a decrease in the wall thickness of HGMs. When the volume fraction of argon gas in the furnace atmosphere ranged from 80% to 95%, the furnace atmosphere pressure ranged from 1.0×l0^5 Pa to 1.25×105 Pa, and the refining temperature ranged from 1600℃ to 1800℃, we produced thick-walled (5-10 ktrn) HGMs with good sphericity, wall thickness uniformity and surface finish. However, the yield of high quality HGMs needs to be further improved. The compressive strength, tensile strength and permeation coefficient to deuterium gas of thick-walled HGMs at ambient temperature decreased with increase of the wall thickness. 展开更多

The effect of thermal cycling treatment on mechanical properties and thermal stability of a Zr41Ti14Cu12.5Ni10Be22.5 bulk metallic glass is investigated.The metallic glassy samples are sealed into quartz tubes under high vacuum condition,and liquid nitrogen together with electric furnace are used to control a periodical temperature variation between 196℃ and 150℃.The structure and properties of the tested samples for different thermal cycles have been examined by X-ray diffraction analysis,mechanical properties measurement and thermal analysis.It has been found that the structure and properties of the samples do not show a significant change even after 200 cycles,which suggests Zr41Ti14Cu12.5Ni10Be22.5 alloy as having potential in aerospace environment. 展开更多

The strong emission transition at 3... The Nd^(3+) doped fluorochlorozirconate(FCZ) glass was prepared by melt-quenching method. The 3.9 μm emission from Nd^(3+) ions is attributed to the two-photon absorption process. The strong emission transition at 3.9 μm fluorescence peak intensity, corresponding to the ~4G_(11/2)→~2K_(13/2) transition, is directly proportional to the NaCl concentration. With the increase of the Cl-ions amount, the mid-infrared(MIR) luminescent intensity is significantly enhanced. Additionally, the Judd-Ofelt(J-O) parameter ?_2 is larger than that of the fluorozirconate(FZ) glass, which indicates the covalency of the bond between RE ions and ligand is stronger as Cl-ions substitution of F-ions in chloride FZ glass. The X-ray diffraction(XRD) patterns show that the amorphous glassy state keeps the FZ glass network structure. In brief, the advantageous spectroscopic characteristics make the Nd^(3+)-doped FCZ glass be a promising candidate for application of 3.9 μm emission. 展开更多
