This paper presents a cadastral spatial data storage structure based on relational database,the method and the procedure to realize it.The paper consists of three parts.In the first part,some existing problems in some...This paper presents a cadastral spatial data storage structure based on relational database,the method and the procedure to realize it.The paper consists of three parts.In the first part,some existing problems in some developed cadastral management systems are discussed.These problems are the following four.1) The security of cadastral spatial data is difficult to be assured.2) It is difficult to varify cadastral data and the integrality of cadastral data is difficult to be kept.3) To transmit and share cadastral data is difficult.4) The efficiency of data access is low.In the second part,the feasibility of using relational database to store spatial data is analyzed and a new cadastral spatial data storage structure is presented.At the same time,the related table structures and field descriptions are given,and then the merits and demerits of this storage structure are analyzed in detail.In the last part,through a real example,the detailed methods to make the new storage structure a reality are given.Moreover,some involving key techniques of the new storage structure are discussed.These techniques are:1) the application of database transaction,2) the application of database trigger,3) and the application of secure recovery of database.展开更多

The function of the attribute database management is inherited and expanded in the new system. The integrity and security of the SOTER database are enhanced. The attribute database management, the spatial database management and the model base are integrated into SOTER based on the component object model (COM), and the graphical user interface (GUI) for Windows is used to interact with clients, thus being easy to create and maintain the SOTER, and convenient to promote the quantification and automation of soil information application.展开更多
Nowadays, cities are the main living environment of human beings. Rapid urbanization is associated with a variety of issues: population explosion, urban heat island effect, greenhouse gases emissions, energy crisis, ...Nowadays, cities are the main living environment of human beings. Rapid urbanization is associated with a variety of issues: population explosion, urban heat island effect, greenhouse gases emissions, energy crisis, climate change and so on. To deal with the challenges from the huge energy consumption and GHGs (greenhouse gases) emission, more and more attention has been paid to low carbon eco-city in China. In this research, the whole process is linked by low carbon eco-city development. High-resolution thermal IR (infrared) satellite remote-sensing is introduced to land use and urban heat island monitoring to meet the requirement of higher accuracy. GIS (geo-information science) technology provides a framework for collecting, processing, managing, analyzing and sharing spatial and temporal data. It has been used in spatial and temporal database management and analysis in low carbon eco-city study. The integrated geo-information system proposed in this research, which will be introduced to various government agencies in China, could enrich the concepts and means for the construction of low carbon eco^city.展开更多
Selectivity estimation is crucial for query optimizers choosing an optimal spatial execution plan in a spatial database management system.This paper presents an Annular Bucket spatial histogram(AB histogram)that can e...Selectivity estimation is crucial for query optimizers choosing an optimal spatial execution plan in a spatial database management system.This paper presents an Annular Bucket spatial histogram(AB histogram)that can estimate the selectivity in finer spatial selection and spatial join operations even when the spatial query has more operators or more joins.The AB histogram is represented as a set of bucket-range,bucket-count value pairs.The bucket-range often covers an annular region like a sin-gle-cell-sized photo frame.The bucket-count is the number of objects whose Minimum Bounding Rectangles(MBRs)fall between outer rectangle and inner rectangle of the bucket-range.Assuming that all MBRs in each a bucket distribute evenly,for every buck-et,we can obtain serial probabilities that satisfy a certain spatial selection or join conditions from the operations' semantics and the spatial relations between every bucket-range and query ranges.Thus,according to some probability theories,spatial selection or join selectivity can be estimated by the every bucket-count and its probabilities.This paper also shows a way to generate an updated AB histogram from an original AB histogram and those probabilities.Our tests show that the AB histogram not only supports the selectivity estimation of spatial selection or spatial join with "disjoint","intersect","within","contains",and "overlap" operators but also provides an approach to generate a reliable updated histogram whose spatial distribution is close to the distribution of ac-tual query result.展开更多
