However, normal applications of Girard's work can be problematic with this text, because reading mimetic conflict in Beowulf as focused on a single object of desire does not adequately explain the relationships between Grendel and his enemies. Normal applications of acquisitive mimesis are limited in this poem, because agent and model do not often have the same desires, and thus this paper proposes a corollary to Girard's theories: If we allow for two objects of desire in the rivalry--primary and secondary desires--we can account for the motivations of all mimetic rivals and acquisitive mimesis has a richer and more sustained application to this poem展开更多

At this time, there is a predominant emphasis on culture-related differences of processes and workflows in companies in the main body of articles on cross-cultural management research. This paper proposes an extension of these research efforts in that case that the different efficiencies of these processes, resulting from cultural influences, should be examined in more detail. Based on the beginnings of organizational theory and with practical examples, it has been already verified that cultural influences shape organizational structures as well as organizational processes. This kind of fact should lead to the assumption that these cultural influences should also create differences in their efficiency, depending on what kind of culture the companies are. These differences in efficiency can be regarded as opportunities for success from which further competitive advantages can be derived. As that the examination of differences in efficiency of processes is still a rarity in the field of cross-cultural management research this should be developed further.展开更多

A quadruple model of global strategy is introduced. The model is based on the introduction of an innovation-based perspective of strategy. This is in addition to the other three but well-known perspectives of global strategy (industry-based, resource-based, and institution-based views). Thus, the four perspectives of strategy could lead a complete set of factors that need to be analyzed for the formulation of global strategy. The model could assist organizations in sustaining their competitive advantages. It is proposed that the introduction of the innovation-based view represents the fourth perspective of a strategy quadruple, thus overcoming a long-standing criticism, namely, the global strategy may lack adequate attention to innovation in developing a firms' global competitive strategies. This paper presents a set of four hypotheses. When tested, these hypotheses could result in a better understanding of the link between the innovation and the global strategy domain. Furthermore, the quadruple model could be useful in understanding the relationship between innovativeness and business performance. It is anticipated that this paper could assist researchers, business management, and analysts in developing global innovation strategies.展开更多

The enterprise implementing the standardization is capable of flexible responding to customer's demands for the assortment, accelerates considerably research, and offers satisfactory delivery terms. That means the selection of types of the input factors and the method how to use them, the selection of working procedures and procedures of intermediary consumption, definition of the relations in the process of control, rational structure of the final products etc.. For attracting people's attention to the advertising, merchants should not only rely on novel advertising creativity and also add some sentiment elements in advertising design under the background of today's advertising all over the world. Sentiments are the most capable of touching human nerves so as to leave a deep impression in the minds of people, so the quality of advertising can be well improved if appropriate sentiment elements are added in advertising design. In this paper, the application of emotional elements to advertising design is specifically discussed from emotional elements classification, main application methods, and matters needing attention.展开更多

We conduct experiments on fused logistic regression and graph-guided regularized regression. Experimental results on several genres of datasets demonstrate that the proposed algorithm outperforms other competing algorithms, and SEGAL has better performance than SEGL in practical use.展开更多

文摘With the continuous increase of social and economic competitiveness, the position of advertising becomes more and more important. 文摘In this study, we propose and compare stochastic variants of the extra-gradient alternating direction method, named the stochastic extra-gradient alternating direction method with Lagrangian function(SEGL) and the stochastic extra-gradient alternating direction method with augmented Lagrangian function(SEGAL), to minimize the graph-guided optimization problems, which are composited with two convex objective functions in large scale.A number of important applications in machine learning follow the graph-guided optimization formulation, such as linear regression, logistic regression, Lasso, structured extensions of Lasso, and structured regularized logistic regression.
