The development of green catalyst preparation is necessary to prevent and eliminate waste from each step of the catalyst preparation. We summarize recent progress in the application of cold plasmas for green catalyst preparation. Cold plasma preparation can reduce the catalyst size, improve the dispersion and enhance catalyst-support interaction with the use of less or no hazardous chemicals. These improvements also lead to the enhancement of catalyst activity and stability. An alternative room temperature electron reduction with a non-hydrogen plasma as an electron source was developed for the reduction of noble metal ions in which no hazardous chemical reducing agent or hydrogen was needed. This creates many opportunities for the development of supported catalysts with heat sensitive substrates, including metal organic frameworks (MOFs), covalent organic framework(COFs), high surface area carbon, peptide, DNA, proteins and others. A novel floating metal catalyst on a water(or solution) surface has been established. Template removal using low temperature cold plasmas also leads to the formation of high surface area porous materials with characteristics that are normally only obtainable with high temperature calcination, but sintering can be avoided. Micro combustion has been developed for the removal of carbon template using cold plasma. This is promising for preparing many structured oxides in a simple way with no use of auxiliary chemicals. Many opportunities exist for the use of cold plasmas to make multi-metallic oxides. Some future development ideas are addressed.展开更多

The effects of modification time on the wettability of the coatings were investigated using the contact angle measuring device. The surface morphologies and structure of the coatings were evaluated using SEM, XRD and FT-IR. The corrosion resistance was investigated by potentiodynamic polarization curves and long-term immersion test. The results showed that the water contact angle (CA) increases gradually with modification time from 0 to 5 h, the highest CA reaches 138° after being modified for 5 h, and the number and size of the micro pores are decreased. The modification method hardly alters crystalline structure of the MAO coating, but improves the corrosion resistance based on the much positive potential and low current density. Moreover, the corrosion resistance and hydrophobicity can be enhanced with increasing the alkyl chain. The wetting and spreading for the alkylcarboxylate with low surface energy become easier on the micro-porous surface, and alkylcarboxylate monolayer will be formed through bidentate bonding, which changes the surface micropores to a sealing or semi-sealing structure and makes the MAO coating dense and hydrophobic. All the results demonstrate that the modification process improves the corrosion protection ability of the MAO coating on AZ31B Mg alloy.展开更多

The microstructure, composition, hardness, wear and corrosion resistance of the plasma remelted layer(PRL) were characterized. The results show that there is extremely fine and dendrite structure in the PRL at low magnification observation, which is still composed of α-Mg and β-Mg17Al12 phases. But at high magnification observation, the microstructure of the PRL is equiaxial crystalline grains with size of 3-5 μm. And also the content of α-Mg phase decreases while that of β-Mg17Al12 increases and distributes more uniformly in α-Mg matrix compared with the substrate. The hardness of the PRL is much higher than that of the substrate. There are plastic deformation, grains uprooting and tearing evidence with tiny even dimples in the tensile fracture of the PRL, which are different from the substrate. Furthermore, the surface wear and corrosion resistance of AZ91 D are improved significantly after plasma remelting.展开更多

TCO films such as SnO2 and SnO2/ZnO bi-layer films were exposed to atomic H at various substrate temperatures and for various treatment times. A decrease in the transmittance due to reduction by atomic H was scarcely observed for SnO2 / ZnO bi-layer,while a decrease for SnO2 was found to depend strongly on the substrate temperature. The resistivity of SnO2 films decreases significantly when substrate temperature exceeds 150℃in H-plasma. However, H-plasma treatment has little impact on the resistivity of SnO2/ZnO bi-layer film. The reason for the decrease in the transmittance is the appearance of metallic Sn on the surface, and under this condition no μc-Si: H film is deposited. SnO2/ZnO bi-layer is very effective for the suppression of the reduction of TCO during μc-Si:H deposition. The performance of microcrystalline silicon solar cells fabricated on ZnO/SnO2/glass is also investigated.展开更多

It is found that with the increase in the sintering temperature at the pressure of 500 MPa, the density, compressive strength, micro-hardness and saturation magnetization of the sintering samples improved significantly, the amorphous phase began to crystallize gradually. Finally, the desirable amorphous and nanocrystalline magnetic materials at the sintering temperature of 863.15 K and the pressure of 500 MPa have a density of 6.9325 g/cm3, a compressive strength of 1140.28 MPa and a saturation magnetization of 1.28 T.
文摘In order to reduce the friction coefficients and further improve the anti-wear properties of Ni-base alloy coatings reinforced by TiC particles,graphite/TiC/Ni-base alloy(GTN) coatings were prepared on the surface of 45 carbon steel. The effects of graphite content on the microstructure and tribological properties of the GTN coatings were investigated. The results show that the addition of graphite to the GTN coatings may greatly reduce the friction coefficients and improve their wear resistance. The 6.56GTN and 12.71GTN coatings exhibit excellent integrated properties of anti-friction and wear resistance under low and high loads, respectively.Under a low load, the wear mechanisms of the GTN coatings are mainly multi-plastic deformation with slight abrasive wear and gradually change into mixture of multi-plastic deformation, delamination and micro-cutting wear with the increase of graphite fraction. As the load increases, the main wear mechanisms gradually change from micro-cracks,micro-cutting and adhesive wear to micro-cutting and micro-fracture with the increase of graphite fraction.
