The taxonomic status of Daduhe loquat (E. prinoides var. dadunensis) was studied through analyzing genetic relationships among Oakleaf loquat (E. prinoides), Daduhe loquat and Common loquat (E. japonica) using i...The taxonomic status of Daduhe loquat (E. prinoides var. dadunensis) was studied through analyzing genetic relationships among Oakleaf loquat (E. prinoides), Daduhe loquat and Common loquat (E. japonica) using inter simple sequence repeats (ISSR) molecular marker and morphologic marker in this paper. Based on ISSR marker research, the similarity coefficient between Oakleaf loquat and Common loquat was lower than the similarity coefficient between Oakleaf loquat and Daduhe loquat while the similarity coefficient between Daduhe loquat and Common loquat was intermediate. The highest additivity was obtained when Daduhe loquat was regarded as the undetermined hybrid (45.8%). The specific bands of Oakleaf loquat and Common loquat were present in Daduhe loquat. Based on morphologic traits research, Daduhe loquat was also between Oakleaf loquat and Common loquat but a little leaning to Oakleaf loquat. All the results support that Daduhe loquat was hybrid of Oakleaf loquat and Common loquat.展开更多

Also, I diff...I systematize thoughts within the scope of J6zef Ba6ka's philosophical system known as recentivism. I analyze the axiology of recentivism in two categories: recens (i.e., "now") and pure-mindedness. Also, I differentiate among pure-mindedness, which is a quality of homo euthyphronicus (i.e., pure-minded man), simplicity, which is a quality of homo simplex (i.e., simple man), and complexity, which is a quality of homo technicus (i.e., technical man). Moreover, I present different meanings of pure-mindedness which form the basis for reflection in the axiology of recentivism, i.e., the ethics of pure-mindedness, euthyphronics, and esthetics. Then, I use these meanings of pure-mindedness to define the attitude of homo euthyphronicus. Homo euthyphronicus is a man who seeks balance between simplicity and complexity in the modem world, which is highly complex and full of civilization-related threats, while stressing the importance of axioiogical values.展开更多
Aims In species with morphophysiological seed dormancy(MPD),little is known about the effects of desiccation of imbibed seeds on embryo growth and germination.We studied seed responses to dehydration in nine species w...Aims In species with morphophysiological seed dormancy(MPD),little is known about the effects of desiccation of imbibed seeds on embryo growth and germination.We studied seed responses to dehydration in nine species with different levels of MPD.Methods For each species,a control test was conducted by keeping seeds permanently hydrated and exposed to the optimal stratification-incubation sequenee to promote embryo growth.Simultaneously,tests were run in which seed stratification was interrupted for 1 month by desiccation at room temperature.Important Findings In Clematis vitalba and Ribes alpinum,with non deep simple MPD,desiccation affected neither embryo growth nor seed viability,but the desiccation led to a decrease of germinative ability in R.alpinum by 16%.The seeds of Narcissus pseudonarcissus subsp.munozii-garmendiae,with deep simple epicotyl MPD,tolerated desiccation in different embryo growth stages,but their germinative ability decreased slightly.The response of species with complex levels of MPD to desiccation was more variable:Delphinium fissum subsp.sordidum,with intermediate complex MPD,and Anthriscus sylvestris and Meum athamanticum,both with deep complex MPD,tolerated desiccation.In contrast,Ribes uva-crispa with nondeep complex MPD,Lonicera pyrenaica with intermediate complex MPD and Chaerophyllum aureum with deep complex MPD,had diminished germination ability by desiccation.Although seeds of the species with simple levels of MPD tolerated desiccation,those of some species with complex levels were also highly tolerant.Thus,desiccation did not induce secondary dormancy in late embryo growth stages.The desiccation tolerance of imbibed seeds of most of the nine species may show their adaptability to climate change in the Mediterranean region.展开更多
