The dam and the matched system had become a key hydro-infrastructure to the city's existence and development, and irrigation of the countryside nearby the city from ninth century up to 1987, a big dam was built at upper reach to control water of the river. Tuo Shan Yan Dam functioned an important role in the local water management and met a series of purposes perfectly, mainly as: (a) regulation of the river water; (b) save the flood; (c) stop the salinization; (d) urban water supply; (e) storage of flesh water; (f) irrigation; (g) ship transportation. And it is a miracle that it has been functioned for more than one thousand years. This dam also influenced the local social life and people's spiritual world simultaneously. The construction of the dam and its matched hydro-system is in line with the Chinese ancient logic of urban water management to manage river to meet a multi-proposes of urban development by a key project and a systemic engineering design. It is an important case for better understanding of ancient Chinese urban water management and to learn from the history for current water sustainability. Accordingly, the dam's design, construction and its influence on the local societies are studied in this article.展开更多
Ecological footprint (EF) has received considerable attention as a useful indicator in the context of sustainable development. So far, EF has been used in numerous studies by academies, organizations and government au...Ecological footprint (EF) has received considerable attention as a useful indicator in the context of sustainable development. So far, EF has been used in numerous studies by academies, organizations and government authorities. However, the results of these studies failed to be comparable directly with each other due to imprecise data sets, unmodified accounting methods of pasture and fossil energy, ignored secondary products, undefined process of calculating yield factors and improper biocapacity for biodiversity. In this paper, we elaborated on EF estimating methods from six categories of consumption in order to overcome the limitations above. We adopted precise data and revised methods, calculated EF of some secondary products, introduced weighted factor to calculate yield factors and adjusted biocapacity by an appropriate amount. Meanwhile, we investigated the resource consumption of Liaoning Province in 2006 to assess EF. Its results showed that Liaoning Province overused its natural capital and was in an unsustainable state. We concluded that two specific problems that had arisen in EF assessment and gave some suggestions for Liaoning Province to improve its unsustainable state.展开更多
Objective The objective of this study was to analyze the status of the clinical application of Yufeng Ningxin(YFNX)preparations and systematically evaluate their efficacy and safety in the treatment of cardiovascular ...Objective The objective of this study was to analyze the status of the clinical application of Yufeng Ningxin(YFNX)preparations and systematically evaluate their efficacy and safety in the treatment of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases.Methods Through searching databases of China National Knowledge Infrastructure,Wanfang,SinoMed,VIP,PubMed,Embase,and the Cochrane Library,the literature of clinical research on YFNX preparations in treating malignant tumors of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases from the establishment of the databases to February 2021 was collected.The clinical randomized controlled trials and case-control studies of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases treated with these preparations were analyzed.Two reviewers independently screened literature,extracted data,and assessed the risk of bias in the included studies,and meta analysis was performed by using ReMan 5.3 software to analyze the eficacy and safety of YFNX preparations in the treatment of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases.Results A total of 29 clinical studies were finally included.The dosage forms were dropping plls,tablets,capsules,and granules.The preparations were used for the treatment of coronary heart disease,hypertension,neuropathic headache,etc.This study systematically evaluated the efficacy and safety of YFNX preparations in the treatment of coronary heart disease,hypertension,and nervous headache.A total of 1,162 cases were included in 13 studies,582 cases of the YFNX preparation group and 580 cases of the Western medicine group.The results of meta-analysis showed that the clinical efficacy of YFNX preparations combined with the Western medicine group in the treatment of coronary heart disease and hypertension,improving electrocardiogram and reducing the frequency and duration of angina attacks,was better than that of the simple Western medicine group,and the difference was statistically significant.Conclusion YFNX preparations are effective for coronary heart disease,hypertension,and neuropathic headache,and the adverse reactions are few.展开更多
