Carbon nanotubes(CNTs)have garnered significant attention in the fields of science,engineering,and medicine due to their numerous advantages.The initial step towards harnessing the potential of CNTs involves their macroscopic assembly.The present study employed a gentle and direct self-assembly technique,wherein controlled growth of CNT sheaths occurred on the metal wire’s surface,followed by etching of the remaining metal to obtain the hollow tubes composed of CNTs.By controlling the growth time and temperature,it is possible to alter the thickness of the CNTs sheath.After immersing in a solution containing 1 g/L of CNTs at 60℃ for 24 h,the resulting CNTs layer achieved a thickness of up to 60μm.These hollow CNTs tubes with varying inner diameters were prepared through surface reinforcement using polymers and sacrificing metal wires,thereby exhibiting exceptional attributes such as robustness,flexibility,air tightness,and high adsorption capacity that effectively capture CO_(2) from the gas mixture. 展开更多

When primary elec... To control the electron beam emitted from the carbon nanotube (CNT) cathode, four different electron chunnels are designed. A common basic structure used in the simulation is an insulating chunnel. When primary electrons hit the surface of the chunnel, secondary electrons are generated, which make the electron distribution at the exit hole of the chunnel more uniform. By analyzing and comparing the state of electrons emitted from the exit of chunnel among the four structures, an optimal structure is obtained. In the optimized structure, the electron distribution at the exit hole of the chunnel is more uniform and the electron beam is rather slim. Furthermore, by adding a magnetic field along the slow wave line, the electron beam can be constrained. In the optimized structure, a very small magnetic field is needed to make most of electrons pass through the slow wave line. 展开更多

A physical model of bulk-nanochannel-bulk with buffer baths is built up using nonequilibrium molecular dynamics (MD) simulation to study the effects of vibrating silicon atoms on the viscosity of aqueous NaCl solutions confined in the nanochannel. The simulation is performed under different moving speeds of the upper wall, different heights and different surface charge densities in the nanochannel. The simulation results indicate that with the increase in the surface charge density and the decrease in the nanochannel height and the shear rate, the vibration effect of silicon atoms on the shear viscosity of the confined fluid in the nanochannel cannot be ignored. Compared with still silicon atoms, the vibrating silicon atoms result in the decrease in the viscosity when the height of the nanochannel is less than 0.8 nm and the shear rate is less than 1.0 ×10^11 s^-1, and the effect of the vibrating silicon atoms on the shear viscosity is significant when the shear rate is small. This is due to the fact that the vibrating silicon atoms weaken the interactions between the counter-ions (Na^+ ) and the charged surface. 展开更多

The main objective of this work is to investigate analytically the steady nanofluid flow and heat transfer characteristics between nonparallel plane walls. Using appropriate transformations for the velocity and temperature, the basic nonlinear partial differential equations are reduced to the ordinary differential equations. Then, these equations have been solved analytically and numerically for some values of the governing parameters, Reynolds number, Re, channel half angle, α, Prandtl number, Pr, and Eckert number, Ec, using Adomian decomposition method and the Runge-Kutta method with mathematic package. Analytical and numerical results are searched for the skin friction coefficient, Nusselt number and the velocity and temperature profiles. It is found on one hand that the Nusselt number increases as Eckert number or channel half-angle increases, but it decreases as Reynolds number increases. On the other hand, it is also found that the presence of Cu nanoparticles in a water base fluid enhances heat transfer between nonparallel plane walls and in consequence the Nusselt number increases with the increase of nanoparticles volume fraction. Finally, an excellent agreement between analytical results and those obtained by numerical Runge-Kutta method is highly noticed. 展开更多

Liquid argon flow along a nanochannel is studied using molecular dynamics (MD) simulation in this work.Large-scale Atomic/Molecular Massively Parallel Simulator (LAMMPS) is used as the MD simulator.The effects of reduced forces at 0.5,1.0 and 2.0 on argon flow on system energy in the form of system potential energy,pressure and velocity profile are described.Output in the form of three-dimensional visualization of the system at steady-state condition using Visual Molecular Dynamics (VMD) is provided to describe the dynamics of the argon atoms.The equilibrium state is reached after 16000 time steps.The effects on system energy,pressure and velocity profile due to reduced force of 2.0 (F2) are clearly distinguishable from the other two lower forces where sufficiently high net force along the direction of the nanochannel for F2 renders the attractive and repulsive forces between the argon atoms virtually non-existent.A reduced force of 0.5 (F0.5) provides liquid argon flow that approaches Poiseuille (laminar) flow as clearly shown by the n-shaped average velocity profile.The extension of the present MD model to a more practical application affords scientists and engineers a good option for simulation of other nanofluidic dynamics processes. 展开更多

[Method] Based on the transformation of existing pGreen0229 plant expression vector, phosphinothricin-resistant selectable marker-bar gene driving by CaMv35S promoter was constructed, which could be used to connect target gene of maize expression vector PGM-35Sbar, and transform Ji444 maize inbred lines by pollen tube pathway. [Result] The universal expression vector for PGM-35Sbar maize had been successfully constructed. When the maize plants were transformed, 14 resistant plants were obtained, and 12 plants were identified to be positive plants by PCR detection. [Conclusion] The study provided basis for rapid construction of maize expression vector containing specific target gene. 展开更多

Inflammatory bowel diseases (IBDs) such as Crohn's disease are highly debilitating. There are inconsistencies in response to and side effects in the current conventional medications, failures in adequate drug delivery, and the lack of therapeutics to offer complete remission in the presently available treatments of IBD. This suggests the need to explore beyond the horizons of conventional approaches in IBD therapeutics. This review examines the arena of the evolving IBD nanomedicine, studied so far in animal and in vitro models, before comprehensive clinical testing in humans. The investigations carried out so far in IBD models have provided substantial evidence of the nanotherapeutic approach as having the potential to overcome some of the current drawbacks to conventional IBD therapy. We analyze the pros and cons of nanotechnology in IBD therapies studied in different models, aimed at different targets and mechanisms of IBD pathogenesis, in an attempt to predict its possible impact in humans. 展开更多

Tunneling Conductance in a Normal Metal/Ferromagnetic Superconductor Nano-Junction at a Finite Temperature

In this study, we investigate the tunneling conductance at a finite temperature in a normal metal/ferromagnetic superconductor nano-junction where the ferromagnetic superconductor (FS) is in three different cooper pairing states: spin singlet s-wave pairing (SWP), spin triplet opposite spin pairing (OSP), and spin triplet equal spin pairing (ESP) while including Fermi wave mismatch (FWM) and effective mass mismatch (EMM) in two sides of the nano-junction. We find that the conductance shows clearly different behaviors all depending on the symmetries of cooper pairing in a manner that the conductance spectra shows a gap-like structure, two interior dips structure and zero bias peak for SWP, OSP, and ESP, respectively. Also, the effective FS gap (Δeff) is a linear and decreasing function of exchange field. The slope of (Δeff) versus exchange field for OSP is twice the SWP. Thus, we can determine the spin polarization of N/FS nano-junction based on the dependence of (Δeff) to exchange field. 展开更多

The goal of this research was to determine the impact of nonionic surfactants on drag reduction effect in water and metal oxide nanofluid. Two nonionic surfactants (Rokacet 07 and Rokanol KT) and copper(II) oxide wa- ter-based nanofluid were examined. Friction factors in a 4 mm diameter pipe for the Reynolds number between 8000 and 50000 were determined. Results showed that addition of nonionic surfactants caused the decrease of fric- tion factor in water and nanofluid. The drag reduction effect was similar in both cases. Presence of nanoparticles in the system has no great influence on drag reduction effect. 展开更多

Miniaturization of electronic equipment has forced researchers to devise more effective methods for dissipating the generated heat in these devices.In this study,two methods,including porous media inserting and adding nanoparticles to the base fluid,are used to improve heat transfer in an annulus heated on both walls.To study porous media insert,porous ribs are used on the outer and inner walls independently.The results show that when porous ribs are placed on the outer wall,although the heat transfer enhances,the pressure drop increment is so considerable that performance number (the ratio of heat transfer enhancement pressure increment,PN) is less than unity for all porous rib heights and porous media permeabilities that are studied.On the other hand,the PN of cases where porous ribs were placed on the inner wall depends on the Darcy number (Da).For example,for ribs with Da=0.1 and Da=0.0001,the maximum performance number,PN=4,occurs at the porous ribs height to hydraulic diameter ratios H/Dh=1 and H/Dh=0.25.Under these conditions,heat transfer is enhanced by two orders of magnitude.It is found that adding 5% nanoparticles to the base fluid in the two aforementioned cases improves the Nusselt number and PN by 10%–40%. 展开更多

AIM: To evaluate the positive predictive value of abdominal non-prepared computed tomography (CT) for diagnosing intestinal lumen or wall lesions in patients presenting to the emergency room (ER) with abdominal complaints.METHODS: For 1-year we prospectively evaluated all ER patients hospitalized after abdominal CT scan detected either intraluminal or intestinal wall lesions. These patients underwent colonoscopy serving as gold standard. Patients with prior abdominal pathology or CT findings of appendicitis or diverticulitis were excluded.RESULTS: Five hundred and sixty-eight abdominopelvic CT scans were performed in the ER, 96 had positive colonic findings. Sixty-two patients were excluded, 46 because of diverticulitis or appendicitis, 16 because of prior abdominal pathology. Of the remaining 34 patients, 14 did not undergo colonoscopy during hospitalization.Twenty eligible patients were included in the study. The positive predictive value of the CT scans performed in the ER was calculated to be 45% (95% CI 25-67).CONCLUSION: CT findings correlated with colonoscopic findings only in approximately half of the cases. Relying on non-prepared CT scan findings in planning patient management and colonoscopy may lead to unnecessary diagnostic work-ups. 展开更多

Recent research shows that Hawking radiation from black hole horizon can be treated as a quantum tunneling process, and fermions tunneling method can successfully recover Hawking temperature. In this tunneling framework, choosing a set of appropriate matrices γ^μ is an important technique for fermions tunneling method. In this paper, motivated by Kerner and Man's fermions tunneling method of 4 dimension black holes, we further improve the analysis to investigate Hawking tunneling radiation from a rotating charged black hole in 5-dimensional gauged supergravity by constructing a set of appropriate matrices γ^μ for general covariant Dirac equation. Finally, the expected Hawking temperature of the black hole is correctly recovered, which takes the same form as that obtained by other methods. This method is universal, and can also be directly extend to the other different-type 5-dimensional charged black holes. 展开更多

The therapeutic results were satisfactory as reported in the following.Clinical Data In this series, all the 127 cases were definitely diagnosed by pathological examination. Of them, 93 were male and 34 female, ranging in age from 12 to 75 years. 38 cases were carcinoma of esophagus, 22 carcinoma of cardia of stomach, 21 cancer of lung, 11 hepatic carcinoma, 8 lymphoma, 8 mammary cancer, 7 carcinoma of colon, and 12 other kinds of the tumors.
