The city form is subjected to a re-reading arguments of which are based on critical interpretation of the mechaitisms of urban morphology in relation not only to the impacts of global economy and building boom but also to the means of perception of urban space by different strata of the urban realm. Thus, urban morphology of the city is studied as a medium which manifests a dissociation, and thus duality, between social structure and its physical container. The paper further argues that uncritical import of urban and architectural typologies seem to create a peculiar type of urban-architectural forgery that is usually reduced to skin-deep facade mimicry. Particularly, solo performances of shiny high-rise buildings and sharp contrasts of street fronts between main arteries and back streets depict impressions of fragmentation and segregation. The emerging urban-scape that can be associated with the cultural and economic leap in Arab regions today is critically evaluated. Thus, the paper proposes judicious and critical planning policy instead of direct import of global urban-architectural typologies.展开更多

It is possible to identify distinct occupational stains within the neighborhood, specifically in the cell one in this article, as a pioneer construction, due to housing dimension that corresponds to different housing typologies, residents and daily use areas, equipment. The objective is therefore, to understand how these three factors are reflected inside the cell, managing occupational stains which differ in space appropriation. How those different occupational stains that derive from the housing and urban morphology, may result in the occupation and experience of its inhabitants, not invalidating a cohesive structure of the neighborhood?展开更多

These procedures implement automatic image segmentation in order to classify cell types as cancerous or noncancerous. The authors have developed a new approach aiming to detect colon cancer cells derived from the "Snake" method but using a progressive division of the dimensions of the image to achieve rapid segmentation. The aim of the present paper was to classify different cancerous cell types based on nine morphological parameters and on probabilistic neural network. Three types of cells were used to assess the efficiency of our classifications models, including BH (Benign Hyperplasia), IN (Intraepithelial Neoplasia) that is a precursor state for cancer, and Ca (Carcinoma) that corresponds to abnormal tissue proliferation (cancer). Results showed that among the nine parameters used to classify cells, only three morphologic parameters (area, Xor convex and solidity) were found to be effective in distinguishing the three types of cells. In addition, classification of unknown cells was possible using this method.展开更多
