Due to this type of injection velocity the dusty flow becomes 3D. Perturbation method is used to obtain the expressions for the velocity and temperature fields of both the fluid and dust. It was found that the velocity profiles of both the fluid and dust in the main flow direction decrease with the increase of the mass concentration of the dust particles, and those in cross flow direction increase with an increase in the mass concentration of the dust particles up to the middle of the channel and thereafter decrease with increase in mass concentration of the dust particles. The skin friction components Tx and Tz in the main flow and transverse directions respectively increase with an increase in the mass concentration of the dust particles (or) injection parameter. The heat transfer coefficient decreases with the increase of the injection parameter and increases with the increase in the mass concentration of the dust particles.展开更多

Fugitive road dust emission strengths were calculated using the AP-42 emission factor model. Silt loading on Beijing urban roads was typically less than 1.0 g/m^2, the PM10 emission strength was typically less than 100 kg/km·day, and road dust fall was typically less than 40 t/km^2·30day. The relationships between traffic volume, silt loading, fugitive road dust emission strength and road dust fall were studied in the Beijing metropolitan area. The results indicate that silt loading and emission factors are negatively correlated with traffic volume, but the PM10 emission rate and road dust-fall are positively correlated with traffic volume.展开更多

Stringent emissions limits, set by government organisations requires industries to conform to these limits to ensure that air quality is sustained and with minimum pollutant present. Electrostatic precipitators are typically used to filter and collect these particulate emissions. Fly ash resistivity is a primary parameter in the collection of particulate emissions, and there is a resistivity range at which electrostatic precipitator collection is most efficient and anything outside this range limits, their operation. High resistivity ash results in back-corona discharge, whilst low resistivity results in particle re-entrainment into the flue gas stream. The purpose of this paper is to investigate and obtain a fly ash resistivity profile for existing power plants in South Africa. Ash samples obtained from power plants are, tested making use of an ash-resistivity test oven, in accordance with IEEE Standard 548-1984. This paper discusses obtained experimental results, to determine the resistivity profile at which South African power plant electrostatic precipitators operate. The electrical efficiency of the electrostatic precipitator system is evaluated based on the obtained resistivity profiles.展开更多
