Purpose: To compare a new ophthalmic viscoelastic device (OVD) Healon 5 with twoother kinds of OVDs commonly used in China during phacoemulsification and intraocularlens (IOL) implantation in terms of removal time, intraocular pressure, corneal andanterior chamber response.Methods: This prospective randomized study, in which patients and observers aremasked, comprises niety eyes. They were randomly divided into 3 groups with differentOVDs. Healon 5 (sodium hyaluronate 5 000 2.3 % ) was compared with Healon GV(sodium hyaluronate 7 000 1.4 % ) and Iviz (sodium hyaluronate 1.0 % ) . Thesurgeries were performed with temporal corneal incision, phacoemulsification in situ andfoldable lens intracapsular implantation. The characteristic and the removal time of theviscoelastic material as well as the postoperative IOP, corneal reaction and anteriorchamber reactions of the eyes were observed preoperatively and 24 hrs postoperatively.Exclusion criteria were glaucoma, a preoperative dilated pupil diameter smaller than 5.0mm, proliferative diabetic retinopathy, significant corneal pathology or a history ofuveitis.Results: The removal time was 47.42 ± 13.09 seconds in Healon 5, 16. 50 ± 5.45 inHealon GV and 15.83±7.40 in Iviz. The removal time of Healon 5 group wassignificantly longer than that of the other groups ( P =0. 000) . There is no significantIOP change 24 hours postoperatively and the difference of intraocular pressure amongthree groups was not significant ( P > 0.05). Healon 5 group had the slightest cornealand anterior chamber response, followed by Healon GV and Iviz.Conclusion: Although takes longer time to remove, Healon 5 is an ideal viscoelasticmaterial for its superior space maintenance capacity and high dispersity which providessuperior protection of endothelial cells compared to Healon GV and Iviz. 展开更多

Based on the analysis of the properties of Nomex 450 and Nomex 462,the thermal properties of Nomex 462/Lenzing Viscose Flame retardent(FR)blending materials were analyzed.It was discovered through burning test and Thermal Gravity(TG)analysis that the blended material was superior in thermal behaviors to the material made from either Nomex or Viscose FR filament,when the ratio of Nomex and Lenzing Viscose FR reached 80∶20,and excellent thermal properties were achieved with the value of Limiting Oxygen Index(LOI)up to 36.1%.Blending Nomex and Viscose FR filaments may be recommended for better fire retardant property of related fabric. 展开更多

Industrialization has though brought comfort to our daily lives,but it has placed a lot of pressure on the planet’s natural resources,subsequently,it has adversely affected the environment.As the need for cement in the construction sector has grown,it has climbed dramatically globally.Around the world,more than 10 billion cubic meters of concrete are produced each year;it is doubtful that this volume will decrease.A significant expected rise in CO_(2) emissions is caused by increased cement demand.According to the UN Environment Program,buildings are responsible for up to 41%of global anthropogenic carbon emissions.The primary source of greenhouse gases utilized in the manufacturing of cement is clinker.Due to the unsustainable supply of fly ash,calcined clay appears to be a better Supplemental Cementitious Material(SCMs).Kaolin clay is widely available in Pakistan.The purpose of this investigation is to describe the mineral and thermal characteristics of Pakistani clays by examining their geographic distribution.Clay samples were gathered from 39 different places throughout Pakistan during a field investigation program.X-ray diffraction,X-ray Fluorescence,Reactivity,and thermogravimetric analyses were used to analyze the clay samples’mineral content and thermal characteristics.This study demonstrates that Pakistan has a substantial amount of kaolin clay reserves close to existing groups of cement plants.Pakistani clays can be utilized as SCM in the production of limestone calcined clay cement(LC^(3))due to the country’s vast kaolin clay reserves.This study further supports the viability of producing LC^(3) in the nation by providing a thorough analysis of the cement business,known deposits of qualifying clay,and the country’s cement production process. 展开更多

The characteristics of C-S-H gel in hardened Portland cement pastes and complex binder pastes with ground granulated blast furnace slag were investigated with nanoindentation. The composition of C-S-H gel was analysed with SEM-EDS. The obtained results showed that the volume fraction of LD C-S-H gradually reduced and the volume fraction of HD C-S-H increased with the prolongation of hydration age. Most of the C-S-H gel produced at later age was HD C-S-H. The volume fraction of HD C-S-H increased as the fraction of slag in complex binder pastes increased, suggesting that HD C-S-H was mainly in the hydration products of slag. The chemichal compositions of the two types of C-S-H gel were simlar, meaning that formation and transformation of the two types of C-S-H gel were not affected by their Ca/Si ratio. 展开更多
