Objective: To observe the physiological and psychological changing of type 2 diabetic patients after practicing Eight-Section Brocade, to evaluate the clinical curative effect, and to provide a safe and effective self-regulating method for type 2 diabetic patients. Methods: This study is a random controlled trial, the 54 type 2 diabetic patients were randomly assigned into the intervention and the control group. The intervention group was given a 2-month period of Eight-Section Brocade practice, then a comparison between groups was made. The intervention group continued to do Eight-Section Brocade practice for 2 months, so it was 4 months' intervention all together for this group, and then a comparison within the intervention group was made. Results: There was significant difference 4 months later on HbAlc in the intervention group (P〈0.05). There was significant difference between the intervention and control groups on obsessive-compulsive, depression, anxiety and hostility scores after 2 months' practice (P〈0.05). There was significant difference between 2 and 4 months' practice on hostilities scores within the intervention group (P〈0.05). Conclusions: As an important part of the traditional Chinese medicine, Eight-section Brocade has physiological and psycholozical effects on type 2 Diabetic Patients. 展开更多

Purpose: To further study the mechanism of epithelization on the fascia side of the flap after surgical incision and the treatment of the negative pressure therapy. Methods: With the patients' informed consent, parts of tissue samples were obtained from a 51-year-old diabetic patient who was suffering lower extremity ulcers. The samples were processed with hematoxylin and eosin (HE) staining and Masson trichrome staining. The keratin 19, keratin 15 and carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) were immunohistochemically detected. Results: The results of HE staining showed that the specimen was divided into two regions, newborn area and original epithelial area. There were more inflammatory cells infiltrating in the dermis in the newborn epithelial area, compared with the original epithelial area. Cells in newborn epithelial area were more active and many dinuclear and polynuclear cells were observed in newborn epithelial area. But there were more cuticular layers and obvious rete pegs in original epithelial area. In addition, the cells with keratin 19 and CEA positive were found around hair follicle, while keratin 15 was negative. Masson trichrome staining showed that there was a lot of de novo collagen in newborn epithelial area. Conclusion: Epidermal cells on the fascia side of the flap could be derived from the stem cells. Negative pressure wound therapy would attract not only cells but also other elements such as growth factors, cytokines, some nutrients and extracellular matrix. With the formation of the appropriate microenvironment after debridement, the migrated cells can grow, differentiate and spread, eventually leading to the epithelization on the fascia side of the flap in diabetic foot. 展开更多

Obesity, as a chronic condition, has been a serious public health issue over the last decades both in the affluent Western world and developing countries. As reported, the risk of several serious diseases increases with weight gain, including type 2 diabetes, coronary heart disease, cancer, and respiratory diseases. In addition to lifestyle modifications, pharmacotherapy has become an important strategy to control weight gain. However, most of the anti-obesity drugs often show poor outcome for weight-loss and cause severe adverse effects. This review surveys recent advances in nanomedicine as an emerging strategy for obesity treatment with an emphasis on the enhanced therapeutic efficiency and minimized side effects. The insights for future development are also discussed. 展开更多

OBJECTIVE:To study and analyze the etiology and pathogenesis, diagnosis and prescription for cases of diabetic nephropathy(DN) treated by Professor Zhongying Zhou(Prof.Zhou) with the help of dada mining technique,so as to inherit his clinical experience and academic thoughts.METHODS:After pretreatment of the medical record information, statistical software SPSS 13.0 was used to analyze and process the standardized data using the descriptive analysis, cluster analysis and association rules.RESULTS:Ninety-four entries derived from Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM) four-diagnostic information were selected.Through data mining, the highest frequency was yellow-thin-greasy tongue coating, followed by dark tongue, and then by thready-slippery pulse. The main self-conscious symptoms were limb numbness, dry mouth, frequent micturition, etc. With respect to pathogenesis, the etiology related to kidney reached 73.46%.The frequency of pathological factors for deficiency, blood stasis, heat, dampness, phlegm and dryness were 137.65%,80.25%,78.40%,48.77%,21.60%,and 14.20% respectively.A total of 236 kinds of herbs were used 2913 person times, averaging 17.98 herbs per prescription.CONCLUSION:The pathological location of DN is in the kidney. The pathogenesis of the disease is deficiency in origin and excess in superficiality, the former of which include deficiency of the liver and kidney, and deficiency of both Qi and Yin.The main pathological factors are blood stasis, heat, dampness, phlegm, and dryness;and they act upon each other to form the complex pathogenesis in terms of blood stasis-heat,dampness-heat,phlegm-heat,and dryness-heat.All the above factors are always crucial in the aggravation of DN throughout the whole course of its pathological evolution. 展开更多
