In this paper, the robust fault detection filter (RFDF) design problems are studied for nonlinear time-delay systems with unknown inputs. First, a reference residual model is introduced to formulate the RFDF design problem as an H∞ model-matching problem. Then appropriate input/output selection matrices are introduced to extend a performance index to the time-delay systems in time domain. The reference residual model designed according to the performance index is an optimal residual generator, which takes into account the robustness against disturbances and sensitivity to faults simultaneously. Applying robust H∞ optimization control technique, the existence conditions of the RFDF for nonlinear time-delay systems with unknown inputs are presented in terms of linear matrix inequality (LMI) formulation, independently of time delay. An illustrative design example is used to demonstrate the validity and applicability of the proposed approach. 展开更多

This paper presents the containment analysis and design of heterogeneous linear multi-agent systems(MAS)with time-delay under the output regulation.The leaders are treated as exosystems and an modified output regulation error is designed,which can deal with more than one leader in containment control,then the containment problem will be turned into an output regulation problem.A novel analysis framework of the output regulation is proposed to design a dynamic state feedback control law for containment error and distributed observer when the agents cannot receive external system signal,which guarantees the convergence of all follower agents to the dynamic convex hull spanned by the leaders.The system stability for time-delay containment is proved by the output regulation method instead of the Lyapunov method.Finally,a numerical example is given to illustrate the validity of the theoretical results. 展开更多

The stability and stabilization of a class of nonlinear discrete time delayed systems(NDTDS) with time-varying delay and norm-bounded nonlinearity are investigated. Based on discrete time Lyapunov–Krasovskii functional method, a sufficient delaydependent condition for asymptotic stability of nonlinear systems is offered. Then, this condition is used to design a new efficient delayed state feedback controller(DSFC) for stabilization of such systems. These conditions are in the linear matrix inequality(LMI) framework. Illustrative examples confirm the improvement of the proposed approach over the similar cases. Furthermore, the obtained stability and stabilization conditions will be extended to uncertain discrete time delayed systems(UDTDS) with polytopic parameter uncertainties and also with norm-bounded parameter uncertainties. 展开更多

The sensor tault is modeled as an additive perturbation described by a time varying function. Systems without model uncertainty are initially considered, followed by a discussion of a general situation where the system is subjected to either model uncertainty or external disturbance. An adaptive diagnostic algorithm is developed to diagnose the fault, and a modified version is proposed for general system to improve robusiness. The stability of fault diagnosis system is proved. The parameters of stable space under time delay uncertainty are fixed after Rekasius transformation, and then a new cluster treatment of characteristic roots (CTCR) procedure is adopted to determine the stable space. PID Controller Stabilization for First-order Integral Processes with Time Delay

Due to the widespread application of the PID controller in industrial control systems, it is desirable to know the complete set of all the stabilizing PID controllers for a given plant before the controller design and tuning. In this paper, the stabilization problems of the classical proportionalintegral-derivative (PID) controller and the singleparameter PID controller (containing only one adjustable parameter) for integral processes with time delay are investigated, respectively. The complete set of stabilizing parameters of the classical PID controller is determined using a version of the Hermite-Biehler Theorem applicable to quasipolynomials. Since the stabilization problem of the singie-parameter PID controller cannot be treated by the Hermite-Biehler Theorem, a simple method called duallocus diagram is employed to derive the stabilizing range of the single-parameter PID controller. These results provide insight into the tuning of the PID controllers. 展开更多

Aiming at the problem of network-induced delay and data dropout in networked control system, an improved fuzzy controller is proposed in this paper. Considering the great influence of a controller on the performance of control system, an improved controller with a second order fuzzy controller and network-induced delay compensator being added to the basic fuzzy controller is proposed to realize self-regulation on-line. For this type of controller, neither plant model nor measurement of network delay is required. So it is capable of automatically adjusting quantified factor, pro- portional factor, and integral factor according to the control system error and its derivative. The design makes full use of the advantages of quickness in operation and reduction of steady state error because of its integral function. The con- troller has a good control effect on time-delay and can keep a better performance by self-regulation on-line in the net- work with data dropout and interference. It is good in quickness, adaptability, and robustness, which is favorable for controlling the long time-delay system. 展开更多

The robust guaranteed cost sampled-data control was studied for a class of uncertain nonlinear systems with time-varying delay. The parameter uncertainties are time-varying norm-bounded and appear in both the state and the input control matrices. By applying an input delay approach, the system was transformed into a continuous time-delay system. Attention was focused on the design of a robust guaranteed cost sampled-data control law which guarantees that the closed-loop system is asymptotically stable and the quadratic performance index is less than a certain bound for all admissible uncertainties. By applying Lyapunov stability theory, the theorems were derived to provide sufficient conditions for the existence of robust guaranteed cost sampled-data control law in the form of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs), especially an optimal state-feedback guaranteed cost sampled-data control law which ensures the minimization of the guaranteed cost was given. The effectiveness of the proposed method was illustrated by a simulation example with the asymptotically stable curves of system state under the initial condition of x(0)=[0.679 6 0]. 展开更多

In this paper,we investigate an inertial two-neural coupling system with multiple delays.We analyze the number of equilibrium points and demonstrate the corresponding pitchfork bifurcation.Results show that the system has a unique equilibrium as well as three equilibria for different values of coupling weights.The local asymptotic stability of the equilibrium point is studied using the corresponding characteristic equation.We find that multiple delays can induce the system to exhibit stable switching between the resting state and periodic motion.Stability regions with delay-dependence are exhibited in the parameter plane of the time delays employing the Hopf bifurcation curves.To obtain the global perspective of the system dynamics,stability and periodic activity involving multiple equilibria are investigated by analyzing the intersection points of the pitchfork and Hopf bifurcation curves,called the Bogdanov-Takens(BT)bifurcation.The homoclinic bifurcation and the fold bifurcation of limit cycle are obtained using the BT theoretical results of the third-order normal form.Finally,numerical simulations are provided to support the theoretical analyses. 展开更多

This paper is concerned with the problem of robust H∞ filtering for linear discrete-time systems with multiple state delays and polytopic uncertain parameters. Attention is focused on the design of full-order, reduced-order and zeroth-order robust H∞ filters on the basis of a recently published parameter-dependent Lyapunov stability result. Sufficient conditions for the existence of such filters are formulated in terms of linear matrix inequalities, upon which admissible filters can be obtained from convex optimization problems. The proposed methodology has been shown, via a numerical example, to be much less conservative than previous filter design methods in the quadratic framework. 展开更多

Meanwhile, a sufficient criterion for robust stability with a guaranteeing cost for such systems is obtained, and an optimal procedure for decreasing the value of guaranteeing cost is put forward. This paper will further present the results on the robust output regulation problem for discrete-time linear systems with input and communication delays. The motivation of this paper comes from two aspects. First, it is known that the solvability of the output regulation problem for linear systems is dictated by two matrix equations. While, for delay-free systems, these two matrix equations are same for both continuous-time systems and discretetime systems, they are different for continuous-time time-delay systems and discrete-time time-delay systems. Second, the stabilization methods for continuous-time time-delay systems and discrete-time time-delay systems are also somehow different. Thus, an independent treatment of the robust output regulation problem for discrete-time time-delay systems will be useful and necessary. 展开更多

By transforming the system representation under the arrow form and using a new constructed Lyapunov function,the aggregation techniques,the Borne-Gentina practical stability criterion associated with the properties, new delay-independent stability conditions of the considered systems are established. Compared with the existing results in this area, the obtained result is explicit, simple to use and allows us to avoid the problem of searching a common Lyapunov function. In this paper, we propose a method for the projective synchronization between two different chaotic systems with variable time delays. Using active control approach, the suitable controller is constructed to make the states of two different diverse time delayed systems asymptotically synchronize up to the desired scaling factor. Based on the Lyapunov stability theory, the sufficient condition for the projective synchronization is calculated theoretically. Numerical simulations of the projective synchronization between Maekey-Glass system and Ikeda system with variable time delays are shown to validate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm. 展开更多
