Previously,a single data-path stack was adequate for data-path chips,and the complexity and size of the data-path was comparatively small.As current data-path chips,such as system-on-a-chip (SOC),become more complex,m...Previously,a single data-path stack was adequate for data-path chips,and the complexity and size of the data-path was comparatively small.As current data-path chips,such as system-on-a-chip (SOC),become more complex,multiple data-path stacks are required to implement the entire data-path.As more data-path stacks are integrated into SOC,data-path is becoming a critical part of the whole giga-scale integrated circuits (GSI) design.The traditional physical design methodology can not satisfy the data-path performance requirements,because it can not accommodate the data-path bit-sliced structure and the strict performance (such as timing,coupling,and crosstalk) constraints.Challenges in the data-path physical design are addressed.The fundamental problems and key technologies in data-path physical design are analysed.The corresponding researches and solutions in this research field are also discussed.展开更多
Aims to provide the block architecture of CoStar3400 DSP that is a high performance, low power and scalable VLIW DSP core, it efficiently deployed a variable-length execution set (VLES) execution model which utilizes ...Aims to provide the block architecture of CoStar3400 DSP that is a high performance, low power and scalable VLIW DSP core, it efficiently deployed a variable-length execution set (VLES) execution model which utilizes the maximum parallelism by allowing multiple address generations and data arithmetic logic units to execute multiple instructions in a single clock cycle. The scalability was provided mainly in using more or less number of functional units according to the intended application. Low power support was added by careful architectural design techniques such as fine-grain clock gating and activation of only the required number of control signals at each stage of the pipeline. The said features of the core make it a suitable candidate for many SoC configurations, especially for compute intensive applications such as wire-line and wireless communications, including infrastructure and subscriber communications. The embedded system designers can efficiently use the scalability and VLIW features of the core by scaling the number of execution units according to specific needs of the application to effectively reduce the power consumption, chip area and time to market the intended final product.展开更多

The first agent, parsing agent, syntactically p rocesses and semantically interprets natural language sentence to construct a fu zzy structured query language (SQL) statement. The second agent, defuzzif ying agent, defuzzifies the imprecise part of the fuzzy SQL statement into its e quivalent executable precise SQL statement based on fuzzy rules. The first agent can also actively ask the user some necessary questions when it manages to disa mbiguate the vague retrieval requirements. The adaptive defuzzification approach employed in the defuzzifying agent is discussed in detail. A prototype interface has been implemented to demonstrate the effectiveness.展开更多
Over the last few decades, a diverse and expanded practice has emerged from the increasingly collaborative work developed among architects, urbanists, artists, and media designers. This collaboration has more and more...Over the last few decades, a diverse and expanded practice has emerged from the increasingly collaborative work developed among architects, urbanists, artists, and media designers. This collaboration has more and more developed a particular landscape of projects which share the same operative principles and modes of operation. The city at large has been the context where these projects have been implemented and developed with the will of bringing these types of experimentation to the people and to the public and social scale. Cities are continuously produced through entropic processes that mediate between complexity and immediacy. Information technology operates as a linkage able to set up new rules for communication between man and matter. In this framework, by looking at spatial interventions in the urban space, the aim of the paper is to dissect the modes in which spatial practitioners operate in the digital city through "Urban Machines" and how information technology becomes a tool for place-making. The paper looks at integrated systems or machines that have spatial, social, and environmental implication in how we experience the city. Machines imply "something that has been constructed" and "function with a specific purpose" while being composed by parts that respond to a "functioning whole". These interventions start from sharing the same principle: How do we generate through technologically mediated experiences opportunities for new types of production of(social)space?; How such systems shape our urban experience and deploy forms of participation in civic life?.展开更多

Thanks to the implemen...In this paper, a strategy is proposed in order to introduce in a realistic way wind generation into a HL11 (bulk power system) non sequential Monte Carlo adequacy study with economic dispatch. Thanks to the implemented solution, wind generation is consequently confronted to operational constraints related to high powered thermal units, nuclear parks or thermal machines with technical minimum value. Moreover, during each simulated system state, a DC load flow is also calculated in order to evaluate reinforcements optimizing the large scale integration of wind power production. The simulation tool modified during the present work is called Scanner and is the property of Tractebel Engineering (Gaz de France-Suez) company. It has been here applied to an academic test system: the Roy Billinton Test System (RBTS).展开更多

Operating variables of distillation process have a critical effect on product output value and energy consumption. However, the objectives of minimum energy consumption and maximum product output value do not coordinate with each other and do not lead to the maximum economic benefit of a refinery. In this paper, a systematic optimization approach is proposed for the maximum annual economic benefit of an existing crude oil distillation system, considering product output value and energy consumption simultaneously. A shortcut model in Aspen Plus is used to describe the crude oil distillation and the pinch analysis is adopted to identify the target of energy recovery. The optimization is a nonlinear programming problem and solved by stochastic algorithm of particle warm optimization.展开更多

Then a prototype system was established by utilizing the known knowledge rules,topological relationships, and semantic relationships among strata.This system has a friendly human-computer interface and can meet requirements of mutual queries between attribute and spatial data.The generated profile map is editable.This study provides a new powerful tool for underground mine work.展开更多
