OM consisted of both natural(autochthonous and allochthonous) and anthropogenic inputs.The natural OM included input from vascular plants,especially non-woody angiosperms. The allochthonous input included plankton and microbial production, likely due to localized eutrophication. Anthropogenic inputs likely derived from petroleum input and/or urban activities.Other anthropogenic inputs were untreated sewage waste.These influences were concluded to be regionally specific point sources of pollution based on relative distributions and on the fact that molecular characteristics of sedimentary OM were not distributed smoothly along a gradient.展开更多

The rela...Understanding how spatial scale influences commonly-observed effects of climate and soil texture on soil organic carbon (SOC) storage is important for accurately estimating the SOC pool at different scales. The relationships among climate factors, soil texture and SOC density at the regional, provincial, city, and county scales were evaluated at both the soil surface (0-20 cm) and throughout the soil profile (0-100 cm) in the Northeast China uplands. We examined 1 022 profiles obtained from the Second National Soil Survey of China. The results indicated that the relationships between climate factors and SOC density generally weakened with decreasing spatial scale. The provincial scale was optimal to assess the relationship between climate factors and SOC density because regional differences among provinces were covered up at the regional scale. However, the relationship between soil texture and SOC density had no obvious trend with increasing scale and changed with temperature. There were great differences in the impacts of climate factors and soil texture on SOC density at different scales. Climate factors had a larger effect on SOC density than soil texture at the regional scale. Similar trends were seen in Heilongjiang and eastern Inner Mongolia at the provincial scale. But, soil texture had a greater effect on SOC density compared with climate factors in Jilin and Liaoning. Based on the observed data in monitored drainage areas and GIS spatial analysis tools,watershed basic database of Shitoukoumen Reservoir Basin was built.The multivariate analysis and redundancy analysis(RDA) were used...Based on the observed data in monitored drainage areas and GIS spatial analysis tools,watershed basic database of Shitoukoumen Reservoir Basin was built.The multivariate analysis and redundancy analysis(RDA) were used to analyze the spatial and temporal variations of water quality,identify the key environmental factors and their patterns influencing the spatial variation of water quality,and determine the main types and forms of the non-point source(NPS) pollutant export controlled by the key environmental factors.The results show that different patterns of environmental factors lead to great changes in water quality at spatial and seasonal scales.All selected environmental factors explain 64.5% and 68.2% of the spatial variation of water quality over dry season and rainy season,respectively,which shows clear seasonal difference.Over dry season,residential land is the most important environmental factor,which possesses 35.4% of the spatial variation,and drainage area is the second key environmental factor,which possesses 17.0% of spatial variation in the total variance.Over rainy season,slope length and drainage area are the key environmental factors,which possess 29.3% of the spatial variation together.Residential land influences nitrogen export by changing NH4+-N and particulate organic nitrogen(PON) discharge over dry season,and drainage area controls phosphorus export by regulating dissolved phosphorus(DP) drainage over dry season and phosphorus associated particulate(PAP) loss over rainy season,respectively.Although slope length is an important environmental factor,it does not influence NPS pollutant export.It is interesting that soil organic matter,as a minor environmental factor,highly determines phosphorus and nitrogen export by enhancing the DP,PAP and PON loss.展开更多
Background and objective:Acute liver failure(ALF)is a type of disease with high mortality and rapid progression with no specific treatment methods currently available.Glucocorticoids exert beneficial clinical effects ...Background and objective:Acute liver failure(ALF)is a type of disease with high mortality and rapid progression with no specific treatment methods currently available.Glucocorticoids exert beneficial clinical effects on therapy for ALF.However,the mechanism of this effect remains unclear and when to use glucocorticoids in patients with ALF is difficult to determine.The purpose of this study was to investigate the specific immunological mechanism of dexamethasone(Dex)on treatment of ALF induced by lipopolysaccharide(LPS)/D-galactosamine(D-Ga IN)in mice.Methods:Male C57 BL/6 mice were given LPS and D-Ga IN by intraperitoneal injection to establish an animal model of ALF.Dex was administrated to these mice and its therapeutic effect was observed.Hematoxylin and eosin(H&E)staining was used to determine liver pathology.Multicolor flow cytometry,cytometric bead array(CBA)method,and next-generation sequencing were performed to detect changes of messenger RNA(m RNA)in immune cells,cytokines,and Kupffer cells,respectively.Results:A mouse model of ALF can be constructed successfully using LPS/D-Ga IN,which causes a cytokine storm in early disease progression.Innate immune cells change markedly with progression of liver failure.Earlier use of Dex,at 0 h rather than 1 h,could significantly improve the progression of ALF induced by LPS/D-Ga IN in mice.Numbers of innate immune cells,especially Kupffer cells and neutrophils,increased significantly in the Dex-treated group.In vivo experiments indicated that the therapeutic effect of Dex is exerted mainly via the glucocorticoid receptor(Gr).Sequencing of Kupffer cells revealed that Dex could increase m RNA transcription level of nuclear receptor subfamily 4 group A member 1(Nr4 a1),and that this effect disappeared after Gr inhibition.Conclusions:In LPS/D-Ga IN-induced ALF mice,early administration of Dex improved ALF by increasing the numbers of innate immune cells,especially Kupffer cells and neutrophils.Gr-dependent Nr4 a1 upregulation in Kupffer cells may be an important ALF effect regulated by Dex in this process.展开更多
