The reason for requiring soft constraints adjustment and objective relaxation simultaneously is that the result is not satisfactory when the feasible region is apart from the desired working point or the optimization problem is infeasible. The mixed logic method is introduced to describe the priority of the constraints and objectives, thereby the soft constraints adjustment and objectives coordination are solved together in RTO. A case study on the Shell heavy oil fractionators benchmark problem illustrating the method is finally presented.展开更多

An effective preparation method for built-in silt samples in the triaxial test was firstly developed. By triaxial testing of samples at low confining pressures it was found that silt easily loses stability and liquefies. Loose silt may show temporary liquefaction under static loading, and develop full liquefaction under cyclic loading. The most important factors influencing the silt behaviour are porosity, confining pressure, consolidation state, cyclic loading level and number of cycles. The maximum obtainable shear stress is primarily a function of the confining pressure and the internal frictional angle. The actual structure of the silt material is the key factor in controlling its behaviour.展开更多

Two available ways for enforcing equality path constraints are presented, which can be directly incorporated into the improved CVI approach. Inequality path constraints are much more difficult to deal with, even for small scale problems, because the time intervals where the inequality path constraints are active are unknown in advance. To overcome the challenge, the ll penalty function and a novel smoothing technique are in-troduced, leading to a new effective approach. Moreover, on the basis of the relevant theorems, a numerical algo-rithm is proposed for nonlinear dynamic optimization problems with inequality path constraints. Results obtained from the classic batch reaCtor operation problem are in agreement with the literature reoorts, and the comoutational efficiency is also high.展开更多

By convex analyzing, the primal optimal problem can be converted to an equivalent problem, in which only the information of convex extremes of feasible space is included, and is more easy for GAs to solve. For avoiding invalid genetic operators, a redesigned convex crossover operator is also performed in evolving. As a integrality, the quality of two problem is proven, and a method is also given to get all extremes in linear constraint space. Simulation result show that new algorithm not only converges faster, but also can maintain an diversity population, and can get the global optimum of test problem.展开更多

Considering the difficulties in the current measurement system such as complicated calibration process, cumbersome aided-instruments,strict limitation of working distance, this paper carries out an optical method in which two high-speed cameras with variable-zoom lenses are adopted as binocular stereo sensors of measurement system and a high-ac-curacy 3D target with fast reconstruction is designed. The intrinsic parameters of the sensors and the relative positions between coordinate systems are solved by the method of colinearity constrained optimization algorithm. The calibration process is easy to operate and the device is also of portability. Most importantly, the severe working distance limitation between sensors and measured body is solved, enhancing the adaptability of measurement system to environment. Experimental results show that when the sensors are in the range of 8 -16 m away from the measured body, system accuracy can reach up to ±0. 5 mm, which meets the requirements to measure the dynamic envelope curve of high-speed vehicle.展开更多

The approach incorporates the virtues both from indirect and direct methods: it solves the optimality conditions like the traditional indirect methods do, but uses a discretization technique inspired from direct methods. Compared with other indirect approaches, the proposed approach has two main advantages: (1) the discretized optimization problem only employs unconstrained nonlinear programming (NLP) algorithms such as BFGS (Broyden-Fletcher-Goldfarb-Shanno), rather than constrained NLP algorithms, therefore the computational efficiency is increased; (2) the relationship between the number of the discretized time intervals and the integration error of the four-step Adams predictor-corrector algorithm is established, thus the minimal number of time intervals that under desired integration tolerance can be estimated. The classic batch reactor problem is tested and compared in detail with literature reports, and the results reveal the effectiveness of the proposed approach. Dealing with path constraints requires extra techniques, and will be studied in the second paper.展开更多

This potential is considered more accurate in elaborating excited states properties of insulators and semiconductors as compared to LDA and GGA. The present calculated band gaps values of BP, AlP, GaP, and InP are 1.867 eV, 2.268 eV, 2.090 eV, and 1.377 eV respectively, which are in close agreement to the experimental results. The band gap values trend in this study is as: E9 (mBJ-GGA/LDA) 〉 E9 (GGA) 〉 Eg (LDA). Optical parametric quantities (dielectric constant, refractive index, reflectivity and optical conductivity) which based on the band structure are aiso presented and discussed. BP, AlP, GaP, and InP have strong absorption in between the energy range 4-9 eV, 4-7 ev, 3-7 eV, and 2-7 eV respectively. Static dielectric constant, static refractive index and coefficient of reflectivity at zero frequency, within mBJ-GGA, are also calculated. BP, AIP, GaP, and InP show significant optical conductivity in the range 5.2-10 eV, 4.3-8 eV, 3.5- 7.2 eV, and 3.2-8 eV respectively. The present study endorses that the said compounds can be used in opto-electronic applications, for different energy ranges.展开更多
