Two nonionic surfactants (Rokacet 07 and Rokanol KT) and copper(II) oxide wa- ter-based nanofluid were examined. Friction factors in a 4 mm diameter pipe for the Reynolds number between 8000 and 50000 were determined. Results showed that addition of nonionic surfactants caused the decrease of fric- tion factor in water and nanofluid. The drag reduction effect was similar in both cases. Presence of nanoparticles in the system has no great influence on drag reduction effect.展开更多

Then, the obtained silica nanoparticles were surface functionalized by silane coupling agents, such as(3-Mercaptopropyl) triethoxysilane(MPTES) and(3-Amincpropyl) trithoxysilane(APTES). Some further modifications were studied by chloroaceetyl choride and 1,8-Diaminoaphalene for amino modified silica. The surface functionalized silica nanoparticles were characterized by Fourier transform infrared(FI-IR) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS). The prepared adsorbent of surface functionalized silica nanoparticles with differential function groups were investigated in the selective adsorption about Pb2+, Cu2+, Hg2+, Cd2+ and Zn2+ions in aqueous solutions. The results show that the(3-Mercaptopropyl) triethoxysilane functionalized silica nanoparticles(SiO2-MPTES) play an important role in the selective adsorption of Cu2+ and Hg2+, the(3-Amincpropyl) trithoxysilane(APTES) functionalized silica nanoparticles(SiO2-APTES) exhibited maximum removal efficiency towards Pb2+ and Hg2+, the 1,8-Diaminoaphalene functionalized silica nanoparticles was excellent for removal of Hg2+ at room temperature, respectively.展开更多

Experiments and molecular simulations have been used to study the concentration effect on the A-DNA→B-DNA conformational transition, but a systematical investigation on counterion effect on the dynamics of this transition has not been reported up to now. In present work, restrained and unrestrained molecular dynamics (MD) simulations have been performed to characterize the stability of DNA conformations and the dynamics of A-DNA→B-DNA transitions in aqueous solutions with different alkali metal counterions. The DNA duplex d(CGCGAATTCGCG)2, coion Cl- and counterions Li+, Na+, K+, Rb+ and Cs~ as well as water molecule were considered using the PARM99 force field in the AMBER8 package. It was found that B-form DNA is more stable than A-form DNA in aqueous electrolyte solutions with different alkali metal counterions. In- creasing KCI concentration in solution hinders the A-DNA^B-DNA transition and the transition times for different alkali metal counterions conform to neither the simple sequence related to naked ion size nor to hydrated diameter, but an apparently abnormal sequence of K+ 〈 Rb+ 〈 Cs+ 〈 Na+ 〈 Li+. This abnormal sequence can be well understood in terms of an electrostatic model based on the effective cation diameters and the modified mean-spherical approximation (MMSA). The present results provide valuable information for the design of DNA-based nanomaterials and nanodevices.展开更多

Effect of anions from various calcium sources on the microstructure of the xonotlite fibers is studied in this paper. These obtained products were characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD), transmission electron microscope(TEM) and scanning electron microscope(SEM) techniques to investigate their crystalline phase, crystal structure and morphology. The results indicate that anion from various calcium sources has little influence on the crystalline phases of xonotlite fibers but poses a great impact on their morphologies. Xonotlite fibers with single crystal characteristics and large aspect ratio of 50—100 were successfully fabricated from CaCl_2 as calcium material at 225 °C for 15 h. The existence of Cl-anion in the CaO-SiO_2-H_2O system significantly contributes to the formation of xonotlite crystal.展开更多
