A numerical model for steady state analysis and analytical expressions for the AM and FM modulation responses of DFB lasers are presented.The small signal modulation responses of 3 phase shift(PS) DFB is investigated for the first time.A new method(Vector Newton method) to obtain multiple longitudinal mode of DFB lasers is used.It is demonstrated that this method is suitable for obtaining multiple solution of high nonlinear equations.Longitudinal photon density distribution and multiple longitudinal mode of 3PS DFB and simple DFB lasers are analyzed.The results show that modulation response characteristics of 3PS DFB laser is as good as that of DFB,and PS can weaken the longitudinal spatial hole burning (LHSB) effect and is in favor of single longitudinal mode operating of lasers. 展开更多

Along with the expanding of span of cable-stayed bridge,wind load becomes a more and more important controlling factor for bridge the design.A very large proportion of the wind load acting on cables has exceeded that acting on deck.There was not any detailed prescript in Chinese code for calculation of longitudinal wind load on cables due to lack of theoretical research and experiment,and conservative simplified calculation was adopted during design,which leads to conservative and uneconomical design of structures.To resolve this problem,cable force experiment was carried out during the design of Sutong Bridge.By comparing with international research results,the calculation formula of longitudinal wind drag coefficient for cables was advanced to fill the blank of bridge wind resistant code of China,and has already been adopted in the Highway Bridge Wind Resistant Design Code(JTG/T D60-01-2004)with great significance for bridge engineering. 展开更多

Based on the stress-strain data collected by a CSSMAS (container ship structure monitoring and analyzing system) onboard a container vessel, stress-strain responses of the ship's structure in high wave were analyzed and illustrated for the identification of reasonable safe course sections. Besides the ship's structure safety, the maneuvering convenience is also deemed as a main concern which influences the safety of vessels in heavy waves. In order to develop a comprehensive guidance in adverse weather condition, the basic requirements on maneuvering convenience for vessels in storm were further discussed. In combination of the two requirements, namely structure health and maneuvering convenience, a proposed operational method was thus developed, which was an amendment to the traditional navigational method for ship in extreme weather. At the end of this paper, an example of optimal course planning in bad weather was illustrated by using the operational method proposed. 展开更多

Objective To investigate the diagnosis and therapy of mediastinal enterogenous cysts in children. Methods Clinical data of 17 cases with mediastinal enterogenous cysts within 19 years in our hospital were retrospectively analyzed. Results One case was intramural esophageal cyst and 16 cases were enteric cysts, two among which were complicated with abdominal enteric duplications. Most cases presented with symptoms of respiratory distress. Twelve cases were complicated with vertebral anomalies. Ultrasound helpful in confirming the cystic nature of these lesions. posterior mediastinum. of 12 cases and magnetic resonance imaging of 4 cases were Eight cases had technetium-99m pertechnetate scintigraphy of posterior mediastinum.Conclusions Most patients present with symptoms of respiratory distress, complicated with vertebral anomalies. Ultrasonography and magnetic resonance imaging may be helpful in confirming the cystic nature of these lesions. Technetium-99m pertechnetate scintigraphy is the most effective method for differentiation of the disease from other mediastinal cysts. 展开更多

The basic head shape of high-speed train is determined by its longitudinal type-line(LTL),so it is crucial to optimize its aerodynamic performance.Based on the parametric modeling of LTL constructed by non-uniform relational B-spline(NURBS)and the fluctuation pressure obtained by large eddy simulation(LES),the Kriging surrogate model(KSM)of LTL was constructed for low aerodynamic noise,and the accuracy of the KSM was improved gradually by adding the sample point with maximum expected improvement(EI)and the optimal point from optimization.The optimal objective was searched with genetic algorithm(GA).The results show that the total fluctuation pressure level(FPL)of the optimal LTL can be 8.7 dB less than that of original one,and the shape optimization method is feasible for low aerodynamic noise design. 展开更多

Coal rock is a type of dual-porosity medium,which is composed of matrix pores and fracture-cutting matrix.They play different roles in the seepage and storage capacity of coal rock.Therefore,constructing the micropore structure of coal rock is very important in the exploration and development of coalbed methane.In this study,we use a coal rock digital core and three-dimensional modeling to study the pore structure of coal rock.First,the micropore structure of coal rock is quantitatively analyzed using a two-dimensional thin-section image,and the quantitative information of the pore and fracture(cleat)structure in the coal rock is extracted.The mean value and standard deviation of the face porosity and pore radius are obtained using statistical analysis.The number of pores is determined using dichotomy and spherical random-packing methods based on compression.By combining with the results of the petrophysical analysis,the single-porosity structure model of the coal rock is obtained using a nonequal-diameter sphere to represent the pores of the coal rock.Then,an ellipsoid with an aspect ratio that is very much lesser than one is used to represent the fracture(cleat)in the coal rock,and a dual-pore structure model of the coal rock is obtained.On this basis,the relationship between the different pore aspect ratios and porosity is explored,and a fitting relationship is obtained.The results show that a nonlinear relationship exists between them.The relationship model can provide a basis for the prediction of coal rock pore structure and the pore structure parameters and provide a reference for understanding the internal structure of coalbed methane reservoirs. 展开更多

Research on the distribution of smoke in tunnels is significant for the fire emergency rescue after an operating metro train catches fire. A dynamic grid technique was adopted to research the law of smoke flow diffusion inside the tunnel when the bottom of a metro train was on fire and to compare the effect of longitudinal ventilation modes on the smoke motion when the burning train stopped. Research results show that the slipstream curves around the train obtained by numerical simulation are consistent with experimental data. When the train decelerates, the smoke flow first extends to the tail of the train. With the decrease of the train's speed, the smoke flow diffuses to the head of the train. After the train stops, the slipstream around the train formed in the process of train operation plays a leading role in the smoke diffusion in the tunnel. The smoke flow quickly diffuses to the domain in front of the train. After forward mechanical ventilation is provided, the smoke flow inside the tunnel continues to diffuse downstream. When reverse mechanical ventilation operates, the smoke in front of the train flows back rapidly and diffuses to the rear of the train. 展开更多

In a special case, with the proposed method an exact solution with a concise form can be obtained, which imply four types of profiles with variation in geometry or material properties. However, the WKB (Wentzel-Kramers-Brillouin) method leads to a series solution, which is a Taylor expansion of the results of the proposed method. For the arbitrary non-uniform rods, the comparison indicates that the WKB method is simpler, but the convergent speed of the series solution resulting from the pro-posed method is faster than that of the WKB method, which is also validated numerically using an exact solution of a kind of non-uniform rods with Kummer functions. 展开更多

We studied the compressional wave event in Pc5 frequency range observed in the dawn-side magnetic equator on 9 March 1998 by Grad-Shafranov(GS) reconstruction method for the first time. To test the effectiveness of application of GS method on Pc5 compressional wave, we benchmarked our procedure by applying it to a one-dimensional current sheet model first. Excluding the left-hand corners, the average error magnitude was less than 10%. The reconstruction of actual data showed that we obtained the 2-D map of compressional wave without suffering model constraints for the first time. The magnetic filed lines density cyclical changed, and the wavelength was about 2-4 times earth radius. The reconstructed magnetic topology had a shape very similar to the empirical 2-dimensional standing wave model proposed by the former workers. Besides, we also recovered the plasma thermal pressure and current density of the wave quantitatively. 展开更多

Ship maneuverability, in the field of ship engineering, is often predicted by maneuvering motion group (MMG) mathematical model. Then it is necessary to determine hydrodynamic coefficients and interaction force coefficients of the model. Based on the data of free running model test, the problem for obtaining these coefficients is called inverse one. For the inverse problem, ill-posedness is inherent, nonlinearity and great computation happen, and the computation is also insensitive, unstable and time-consuming. In the paper, a regularization method is introduced to solve ill-posed problem and genetic algorithm is used for nonlinear motion of ship maneuvering. In addition, the immunity is applied to solve the prematurity, to promote the global searching ability and to increase the converging speed. The combination of regularization method and immune genetic algorithm(RIGA) applied in MMG mathematical model, showed rapid converging speed and good stability. 展开更多
