Performance Evaluation of Antenna Receive Diversity in SlMO-OFDM System over Rayleigh Fading Channel

This paper represents a comparative performance evaluation of different diversity combining techniques for a SIMO-OFDM (single-input-multiple-output orthogonal frequency division multiplexing) system over Rayleigh fading channel. OFDM is a key technique for achieving high data rates and spectral efficiency requirements for wireless communication systems. But in scattering environment, the system performances are severely degraded by the effects of multipath fading and inter-symbol interference. In wireless communication systems, antenna diversity is an important technique to combat multipath fading in order to improve the system performance and increase the channel capacity. In this paper, the performance of different diversity combining techniques-SC (selection combining), EGC (equal gain combining) and MRC (maximal ratio combining) has been analyzed and compared in terms of SNR (signal to noise ratio) and BER (bit error rate) probability. The simulation results show that the maximal ratio combining technique provides maximum performance improvement relative to all other combining schemes by maximizing the SNR of SIMO-OFDM system at the combiner output. The analytic expressions of error probability and effective bit energy to noise ratio correlated with BPSK (binary phase shift keying) modulation have been derived and formulated for N-branch SC, EGC and MRC schemes. The BER characteristics for all three combining techniques are simulated in MATLAB (matrix laboratory) tool box for varying bit energy to noise ratio. Our results also derives that SNR can be improved if the number of receiving antenna is increased, which in turn reduces BER over a Rayleigh fading channel. 展开更多

This paper deals with a nonlinear control strategy of induction motor that combines an input-output linearization control technique and a nonlinear observer design. It is well known that induction motors are the most widely used motors in electrical appliances, industrial control and automation. However, it is also known that induction motor control is a complex task that is due to its nonlinear characteristics. Two main features of the proposed approach are worth to be mentioned. Firstly, a nonlinear control is carried out using a nonlinear feedback linearization technique involving non available state variable measurements of the induction motor system. Secondly, a nonlinear observer is designed to estimate these pertinent but unmeasurable state variables of the machine. The circle-criterion approach is performed to compute the observer gain matrices as a solution of LMI (linear matrix inequalities) that ensure the stability conditions, in the sense of Lyapunov, of the estimated state error dynamics of the designed observer. Simulation results are presented to validate the effectiveness of the proposed approach. 展开更多

The resulting multimodel, entitled ARX-Laguerre multimodel, is characterized by the parameter number reduction with a recursive representation. However, a significant reduction of this multimodel is subject to an optimal choice of Laguerre poles characterizing each local linear model ARX-Laguerre. Therefore, the authors propose an optimization algorithm to estimate, from input/output measurements, the optimal values of Laguerre poles. The ARX-Laguerre multimodel as well as the proposed optimization algorithm are tested on a continuous stirred tank reactor system (CSTR). This paper proposes the design and research on the high bandwidth linear frequency sweep signal source involved in the readout unit module of the wireless passive pressure sensor in high temperature based on the principle of mutual inductance coupling which is applied widely at present. The operating principle of the linear sweep frequency source based on the direct digital frequency synthesis (DDS) technology is introduced, and the implementation method of the hardware circuit and logic sequential control process required in our system has been realized utilizing this technology. Through the experiments under different conditions of the step value, the sweep range and other related design indicators, the influence on the extraction method of resonance frequency information, extraction accuracy, and others during the readout system of the mutual inductance coupling sensor are analyzed and studied. The design of the linear frequency sweep signal source is realized with a resonance frequency change resolution of 6 kHz, a minimum step value of 1 kHz, and a precision of frequency for 0.116 Hz within the sweep width of 1 MHz - 100MHz. Due to the use of the integrated commercial chip, the linear sweep frequency source is made small in size, high working frequency, high resolution and low step values for the readout unit modularized of a higher application value. 展开更多
