Passive optical limiters can be the solution of this kind of problems.So optical materials with large coefficients of TPA and nonlinear refraction are of prime importance in optical limiting applications. Recently the C_ 60-TTF have attracted much attention because of their three-dimensional π-electron conjugated systems which makes them promising as new limiting materials [2]. Two-photon absorption, second harmonic generation (SHG), detection of phase transition using photoinduced nonlinear effects and illustration of new system for optical recording and erasing of holograms under weak laser illumination will be discussed. In other hand a series of new Donor-π-Acceptor ruthenium acetylide systems built around thiophene-based π-conjugating spacers has been developed and studied, in terms of the oligothienyl chain length. Comparison of the linear and third-order nonlinear optical properties of these Donor-π-Acceptor chromophores shows that the elongation of the spacer and introduction of a double bond in this spacer produces a considerable bathochromic shift of the absorption maximum together with a dramatic enhancement of the molecular cubic hyperpolarizability in these systems. Finally, acoustically induced second harmonic generation (AISHG) has been observed for thin films of these complexes incorporated in PMMA matrices, which reaches values among the highest, reported so far.展开更多

To investigate the relationship between nonlinear parameters and spontaneous combustion tendency of sulfide ores, nine different sulfide ore samples were taken from a pyrite mine in China, and induced spontaneous comb...To investigate the relationship between nonlinear parameters and spontaneous combustion tendency of sulfide ores, nine different sulfide ore samples were taken from a pyrite mine in China, and induced spontaneous combustion experiment was carried out in the laboratory. Different stages of the induced spontaneous combustion process were studied by integrating wavelet technology and nonlinear dynamics theory. The results show that ignition points of all the ore samples are above 330 ℃, indicating that sulfide ores of the pyrite mine are difficult to combust spontaneously under normal mining conditions. Spontaneous combustion process includes three stages: incubation stage, development stage and approaching stage. The average temperature rising rate of the three stages are 1.0 ~C/min, 2.0 ~C/min and 4.2 ~C/min, respectively. During the spontaneous combustion process, mean values of approximate entropy and correlation dimension increase at first, and then decrease in the following stage. The mean value of the maximum Lyapunov exponent increases with the passage of reaction time. In a whole, correlation among the three nonlinear parameters firstly weakens, then enhances, and the best correlation period is at approaching stage. As ignition point increases, the maximum Lyapunov exponent of approaching stage decreases. Therefore, combustible tendency of sulfide ores could be qualitatively evaluated based on the maximum Lyapunov exponent of this stage.展开更多
We have previously reported that AD5-10, a novel agonistic monoclonal antibody against DRS, possessed a strong cytotoxic activity in various tumor cells, via induction of caspase-dependent and -independent signaling p...We have previously reported that AD5-10, a novel agonistic monoclonal antibody against DRS, possessed a strong cytotoxic activity in various tumor cells, via induction of caspase-dependent and -independent signaling pathways. The present study further demonstrates that reactive oxygen species (ROS) were generated in abundance in Jurkat leukemia cells upon AD5-10 stimulation and that ROS accumulation subsequently evoked sustained activation of c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK), loss of mitochondrial membrane potential, and release of endonuclease G (Endo G) from mitochondria into the cytosol. The reducing agent, N-acetylcysteine (NAC), effectively inhibited the sustained activation of JNK, release of Endo G, and cell death in Jurkat cells treated by AD5-10. Moreover, a dominant-negative form of JNK (but not of p38) enhanced NF-κB activation, suppressed caspase-8 recruitment in death-inducing signaling complexes (DISCs), and reduced adverse effects on mitochondria, thereby inhibiting AD5-10-induced cell death in Jnrkat leukemia cells. These data provide novel information on the DR5-mediated ceil death-signaling path- way and may shed new light on effective strategies for leukemia and solid tumor therapies.展开更多

METHODS: Inhibitory effects of PE on human hepatoma HepG2 cells were detected by 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay. Cell cycle, apoptosis and mitochondrial transmembrane potential (ΔΨm) were analyzed by flow cytometry. Immunocytochemical assay and Western blotting were used to examine Bcl-2, Bax and caspase-3 protein levels in HepG2 cells treated with PE. RESULTS: PE inhibited the growth of HepG2 cells in a doseand timedependent manner. It did notaffect the cell cycle, but induced apoptosis. PE significantly decreased ΔΨm at 0.25, 0.5 and 1 mmol/L, respectively, suggesting that PE induces cell apoptosis by decreasing the mitochondrial transmembrane potential. The Bcl-2 expression level induced by different concentrations of PE was lower than that in control groups. However, the Bax expression level induced by PE was higher than that in the control group. Meanwhile, PE increased the caspase-3 expression in a doseand time-dependent manner. CONCLUSION: Exogenous PE induces apoptosis of human hepatoma HepG2 cells via the bcl-2/bax pathway.展开更多
By numerically solving the Maxwell-Bloch equations using an iterative predictor-corrector finite-difference time-domain technique, we investigate propagating properties of a few-cycle laser pulse in a 4,4'-bis(di-n-...By numerically solving the Maxwell-Bloch equations using an iterative predictor-corrector finite-difference time-domain technique, we investigate propagating properties of a few-cycle laser pulse in a 4,4'-bis(di-n-butylamino) stilbene (BDBAS) molecular medium when a static electric field exists. Dynamical two-photon absorption (TPA) cross sections are obtained and optical limiting (OL) behavior is displayed. The results show that when the static electric field intensity increases, the dynamical TPA cross section is enhanced and the OL behavior is improved. Moreover, both even- and odd-order harmonic spectral components are generated with existence of the static electric field because it breaks the inversion symmetry of the BDBAS molecule. This work provides a method to modulate the nonlinear optical properties of the BDBAS compounds.展开更多

We consider acyclie k-eolourings such that each colour class induces a graph with a given (hereditary) property. In particular, we consider aeyclic k-eolourings in which each colour class induces a graph with maximum degree at most t, which are referred to as acyclic t-improper k-colourings. The acyelic t-improper chromatic number of a graph G is the smallest k for which there exists an acyclic t-improper k-colouring of G. We focus on acyclic colourings of graphs with maximum degree 4. We prove that 3 is an upper bound for the acyclic 3-improper chromatic number of this class of graphs. We also provide a non-trivial family of graphs with maximum degree 4 whose acyclic 3-improper chromatic number is at most 2, namely, the graphs with maximum average degree at most 3. Finally, we prove that any graph G with A(G) ≤ 4 can be acyelically coloured with 4 colours in such a way that each colour class induces an acyclic graph with maximum degree at most 3.展开更多

It is known that the parametric and external excitation may induce additional saddle states, and result in chaos in the phase space, which cannot be detected by applying the Melnikov method directly. A feasible solution for this problem is the combination of the averaged equations and Melnikov method. Therefore, we consider the averaged equations of the system subject to Duffing-Van der Pol strong nonlinearity by introducing the undetermined fundamental frequency. Then the bifurcation values of homoclinic structure formation are detected through the combined application of the new averaged equations with Melnikov integration. Finally, the explicit application shows the analytical conditions coincide with the results of numerical simulation even disturbing parameter is of arbitrary magnitude.展开更多
Significant efforts have been devoted to enhancing the sensitivity and working range of flexible pressure sensors to improve the precise measurement of subtle variations in pressure over a wide detection spectrum. How...Significant efforts have been devoted to enhancing the sensitivity and working range of flexible pressure sensors to improve the precise measurement of subtle variations in pressure over a wide detection spectrum. However,achieving sensitivities exceeding 1000 kPa^(-1) while maintaining a pressure working range over 100 kPa is still challenging because of the limited intrinsic properties of soft matrix materials. Here, we report a magnetic field-induced porous elastomer with micropillar arrays(MPAs) as sensing materials and a well-patterned nickel fabric as an electrode. The developed sensor exhibits an ultrahigh sensitivity of 10,268 kPa^(-1)(0.6–170 kPa) with a minimum detection pressure of 0.25 Pa and a fast response time of 3 ms because of the unique structure of the MPAs and the textured morphology of the electrode. The porous elastomer provides an extended working range of up to 500 kPa with long-time durability. The sophisticated sensor system coupled with an integrated wireless recharging system comprising a flexible supercapacitor and inductive coils for transmission achieves excellent performance. Thus, a diverse range of practical applications requiring a low-to-high pressure range sensing can be developed. Our strategy, which combines a microstructured high-performance sensor device with a wireless recharging system, provides a basis for creating next-generation flexible electronics.展开更多

The no...The instanton induced cross section in deep inelastic kinematics is a subject which people are tendentious to investigate it. Instanton induced contributions are well defined for the nucleon structure function. The non-perturbative contribution to the quark distributions of structure function, F2(x, Q2), is considered within an instanton model for the QCD vacuum. We find that the structure function may possess numerically large non-perterbative contributions which are related to the violation of chirality and correspond to the correction of parton distribution of the leading twist. It is shown that the instantons give a negative contribution to the structure function at the NLO approximation. A comparison between our results, considering instantaon effect, and the case when we do not take this effect is done. Taking into account the instanton size, p, via the modified running coupling constant we get to a good agreement between our results at the NLO and NNLO approximations and the available experimental data, specially at the low values of the Bjorken variable x 〈 0.1 which confirms the validity of our calculations.展开更多
