The parameters of the proposed model are calculated by using the optimization of experimental data for the different single gas adsorption systems at various temperatures. The experimental adsorption equilibrium data of adsorbate-adsorbent systems was compared with the calculated results in our proposed model and the two-dimensional Hill-deBoer equation model. The proposed model as indicated in the results shows a better prediction of the experimental results compared with two others.展开更多

The results of the simulation indicate that the WBC is prone to penetrating into the gap under northerly winds, and its path is more difficult to alter due to the larger interval between the two critical transition curves (C1P and C1L). For southerly winds, the WBC is prone to leaping across the gap, and its path is easier to alter due to the smaller interval between the two critical transition curves. The simulation results also indicate that the meridional winds over the southern region of the gap are the dominant factor determining the formation of the WBC. The dynamic mechanism influencing the transport of WBC near the gap is both Ekman transport and the blocking of Ekman transport. Ekman transport induced by northerly winds may reduce the transport of the WBC, causing the β-effect to dominate the meridional advection (promoting the penetration). Southerly winds, however, may enhance the transport of the WBC, causing the meridional advection to dominate the β-effect (promoting the leaping state). These results explain some structural features of the Kuroshio at the Luzon Strait.展开更多

Our procedure is much simper than the previous ones in the sense that, it only involves two steps and the explicit expression of local general measurement used in the procedure can be obtained by solving a set of linear equations. Furthermore, this procedure is still applicable in high dimensional case.展开更多

A novel nonlinear state estimation method for fermentation process is proposed using cubature Kalman filter (CKF) to incorporate delayed measurements. The square-root version of CI(F (SCKF) algorithm is given and the system with delayed measurements is described. On this basis, the sample-state augmentation method for the SCKF algorithm is provided and the implementation of the proposed algorithm is constructed. Then a nonlinear state space model for fermentation process is established and the SCKF algorithm incorporating delayed measurements based on fermentation process model is presented to implement the nonlinear state estimation. Finally, the proposed nonlinear state estimation methodology is applied to the state estimation for penicillin and industrial yeast fermentation processes. The simulation results show that the on-fine state estimation for fermentation process can be achieved by the proposed method with higher esti- mation accuracy and better stability.展开更多

Based on Lyapunov theory and linear matrix inequality (LMI) approach, for the first time, the ISS synchronization controller is presented to not only guarantee the asymptotic synchronization but also achieve the bounded synchronization error for any bounded disturbance. The proposed controller can be obtained by solving a convex optimization problem represented by the LMI. Simulation study is presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed synchronization scheme.展开更多

To facilitate the implementation of NMPC in batch processes, we propose a real-time updated model predictive control method based on state estimation. The method includes two strategies: a multiple model building strategy and a real-time model updated strategy. The multiple model building strategy is to produce a series of sim-plified models to reduce the on-line computational complexity of NMPC. The real-time model updated strategy is to update the simplified models to keep the accuracy of the models describing dynamic process behavior. The me-thod is validated with a typical batch reactor. Simulation studies show that the new method is efficient and robust with respect to model mismatch and changes in process parameters.展开更多

In this paper we show that without the assumption of dark energy it is not possible that perfect fluid spherical gravitational collapse will occur. We have solved the field equations by assuming linear equation of state(p = ωμ) in metric f(R) gravity with ω =-1. It is shown that Chakrabarti and Banerjee reached to false conclusion as they derived wrong field equations. We have also discussed formation of apparent horizon and singularity.展开更多

The authors derive the equations and appropriate nodal conditions, determine equilibrium solutions, and, by using the methods of quasilinear hyperbolic systems, prove that for tree networks the natural initial, boundary value problem has classical solutions existing in neighborhoods of the "stretched" equilibrium solutions. Then the local controllability of such networks near such equilib- rium configurations in a certain specified time interval is proved. Finally, it is proved that, given two different equilibrium states satisfying certain conditions, it is possible to control the network from states in a small enough neighborhood of one equilibrium to any state in a suitable neighborhood of the second equilibrium over a sufficiently large time interval.展开更多
