Purpose: The present study evaluated the effects of regular participation in small-sided team handball training on body composition, osteogenic response, physical performance, and cardiovascular risk factors, as well as well-being and motivation, in young untrained women. Methods: Twenty-eight untrained 20- to 30-year-old women were randomized to a handball training group(HG; n = 14, height 170 ± 5 cm, weight 73 ± 11 kg, VO_(2peak) 37.7 ± 4.1 mL/min/kg) that trained 1.7 ± 0.3 times per week over 12 weeks(70 min 4 v 4 handball sessions) or an inactive control group(CG; n = 14, 169 ± 5 cm, 71 ± 12 kg, 38.1 ± 3.7 mL/min/kg). Physiological and psychological and motivational training adaptations were assessed pre-and post-intervention by dual-energy X-ray Absorptiometry(DXA) scans, blood sampling, physical tests, and questionnaires. Results: The average heart rate(HR) over all training sessions was equal to 85% ± 6% HR_(max). Between-group intervention effects were observed in favor of HG for muscle mass(2.1%, p = 0.024), proximal femur bone mineral density(0.8%, p = 0.041), Yo-Yo IE1 intermittent endurance test level 1(IE1) performance(35%, p < 0.001), and incremental treadmill test performance(11.5%, p = 0.003), but not total fat mass(p = 0.176),mean arterial blood pressure(p = 0.328), resting HR(p = 0.219), or blood lipids(p = 0.298—0.854). In CG, no changes were observed in any of the measured physiological variables after the training period. Compared to CG, HG had an increase in intrinsic motivation(p < 0.001) and in the well-being subscale "energy"(p = 0.010).Conclusion: Participation in regular recreational team handball training organized as small-sided games has marked beneficial effects on physical performance, musculoskeletal fitness, well-being, and motivation in untrained young women. 展开更多

As international migrant workers, they should equip themselves with appropriate knowledge and skills to compete with other overseas workers in the global job market. This means that international migrant workers need to improve their quality and ability. In addition, it also requires a high work and motivation to produce a satisfactory performance. Capabilities like cognitive, affective, and psychomotor abilities are needed to support performance Information related to three abilities also motivation is important from international migrant workers from the island of Madura to be analyzed. Based on the results of qualitative research using interview technique and observation on three informants who had worked abroad as nursing, baby sitter, and housekeeper whose data validity of interview result is measured using triangulation method, it shows different ability in working on his job (though having the same motivation) resulted different performance. Low performance due to lack of ability in cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects resulted in workers who could not compete with other workers. The evidence came from the lack of contract extension for low-performing workers. It is therefore recommended for prospective international migrant workers to equip themselves with sufficient capacity through trainings undertaken by government training center (Balai Latihan Kerja/BLK) 展开更多

Background: Floorball training offers a motivating and socially stimulating team activity for older adults, and 12 weeks of floorball training twice a week among men aged 65—76 years have been shown to have positive effects on a number of physiological parameters important for health. However, the effect of long-term participation in floorball training among male elderly has not been investigated. The aim of the present study was to examine the effect of 26-month self-organized regular participation in floorball training on cardiovascular fitness, body composition, blood lipids, glucose control, and physical function among recreationally active men aged 66—78 years. Methods: After completing a 12-week randomized and controlled intervention with floorball and petanque training in the autumn 2014 or spring2015, 15 subjects chose to participate in floorball training(floorball group, FG), whereas 16 subjects resumed their usual lifestyle(control group,CG). FG took part in self-organized floorball training 1.7 sessions of 40 min/week, and CG continued their normal recreationally active lifestyle during a 26-month follow-up period. At baseline and after the follow-up period subjects were tested for cardiovascular fitness, glucose control(resting blood samples), body composition dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry(DXA-scanning), and functional capacity. Results: In FG, the decline in maximal oxygen uptake(VO_(2max)) during the follow-up period was lower(242 ± 379 mL/min, p = 0.01), blood glycosylated hemoglobin(HbA1c) increased less(—1.6 ± 2.9 mmol/L, p = 0.02), and leg bone mineral density increased more(0.03 ± 0.05 g/cm^2,p = 0.02) than those in CG. The effects on body mass, total lean body mass, fat mass, blood lipids, and physical function were similar in FG and CG.Conclusion: Approximately twice weekly floorball sessions with 40 min/session over 26-month appear to reduce age-related decline in cardiovascular fitness and glucose control and improve leg bone mineral density, suggesting that long-term participation in floorball training can be considered as a health-enhancing activity in recreationally active male elderly. 展开更多

Objective Previous studies showed that hypoxia preconditioning could protect cardiac function against subsequent myo-cardial infarction injury. However, the effect of hypoxia on left ventricular after myocardial infarction is still unclear. This study therefore aims to investigate the effects of hypoxia training on left ventricular remodeling in rabbits post myocardial infarction. Methods Adult male rabbits were randomly divided into three groups: group SO (sham operated), group MI (myocardial infarc-tion only) and group MI-HT (myocardial infarction plus hypoxia training). Myocardial infarction was induced by left ventricular branch ligation. Hypoxia training was performed in a hypobaric chamber (having equivalent condition at an altitude of 4000 m, FiO214.9%) for 1 h/day, 5 days/week for four weeks. At the endpoints, vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in the plasma was measured. Infarct size and capillary density were detected by histology. Left ventricular remodeling and function were as-sessed by echocardiography. Results After the 4-week experiment, compared with the group SO, plasma VEGF levels in groups MI (130.27 ± 18.58 pg/mL,P〈 0.01) and MI-HT (181.93 ± 20.29 pg/mL,P〈 0.01) were significantly increased. Infarct size in Group MI-HT (29.67% ± 7.73%) was deceased remarkably, while its capillary density (816.0 ± 122.2/mm2) was significantly increased. For both groups MI and MI-HT, left ventricular end-diastolic and end-systolic dimensions were increased whereas left ventricular ejection fraction was decreased. However, compared with group MI, group MI-HT diminished left ventricular end-diastolic (15.86 ± 1.09 mm,P〈 0.05) and end-systolic dimensions (12.10 ± 1.20 mm,P〈 0.01) significantly and im-proved left ventricular ejection fraction (54.39 ± 12.74 mm,P〈 0.05).ConclusionHypoxia training may improve left ven-tricular function and reduce remodeling via angiogenesis in rabbits with MI. 展开更多

Sports competition is competition in a particular environment, mad it has its own characteristics, tasks, opponents, environment and methods. Despite the psychological training is relevant to, and associated with physical exercise, but its nature determines its specificity. On the psychological point of view, due to the reinforcement of external stimuli, which led to strong psychological pressure, these are manifested through the behaviors of the players when they are compete with others, such as fear, excessive psychological tension, incorrect competition motivation, ambiguous purpose, lack of confidence, even there are phenomenon like isolated characteristics and irritation, etc. Thus, the regulation and control of mental activity, the overcome of the psychological barriers, and the implementation of the psychology training have become a big question which teachers and coaches must pay attention to and need to be solved. 展开更多

Objective: To evaluate the effects of core stability exercise (CST) on rehabilitation in stroke patients with hemiplegia. Methods: Randomly controlled trials about the effects of CST on rehabilitation in stroke patients with hemiplegia were searched in the database, including PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, CNKI, Wanfang, CBM and VIP. Search terms include “core stability training / core stability exercise / core stabilization training / core stabilization exercise/ core strength training / core strength exercise” and “stroke / brain ischemia / cerebral infarction / cerebral hemorrhage / intracranial thrombosis / brain hemorrhage / cerebrovascular disorder /cerebrovascular accident, cerebrovascular disease / hemiplegia / hemiparesis/ stroke rehabilitation”. Study screening, data extraction and quality assessment were conducted by two researchers independently. Data was analyzed using RevMan 5.3 software. Results: Totally 11 studies and 704 patients were included with 352 patients in experiment group and 352 in control group. Results of meta-analysis showed that combination of CST and conventional rehabilitation had better effects on trunk control [MD = 10.44, 95% CI (8.83-12.04), P 〈 0.001], banlace [MD = 5.6, 95% CI (4.81-6.39), P 〈 0.001], activities of daily living [MD = 12.06, 95% CI (7.65-16.46), P 〈 0.001], ambulation functional [MD = 0.72, 95% CI (0.32-1.12), P 〈 0.001] and walking speed [MD = 3.39, 95% CI (2.03-4.76), P 〈 0.001] than conventional rehabilitation, but there is no clear difference on walking stride [MD = 2.52, 95% CI (-0.25-5.29), P = 0.07] between two groups. Conclusion: CST together with conventional rehabilitation can better improve trunk control, banlace, activities of daily living, ambulation functional and walking speed in stroke patients compared with conventional rehabilitation, but can not make the walking stride better significantly. However, since the conclusion of this meta-analysis was drawn based on middle quality RCTs, future high quality researchs should be conducted to confirm its positive intervention effects. 展开更多

This paper analyzes attention theory in the cognitive psychology and introduces second language vocabulary acquisition. The filter theory and attention resource theory in the attention theory points out that attention has a key effect on the learner's cognitive vocabulary learning by raising students' expectations for new words, by increasing the frequency of exposure to them, by enhancing their perceptual salience, and by increasing the task demand for word study. The fact proves that enhancing attention in input could promote students' vocabulary acquisition and help them form efficient vocabulary learning strategy suitable for their levels of proficiency. 展开更多

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effects of acupuncture therapy compared with sham acupuncture on heart rate variability(HRV) in 24 elite soccer players during 4-week, high-intensity training sessions.METHODS: The subjects were randomly divided into two groups: acupuncture group(AG) and sham acupuncture group(SG). In addition, AG had been implemented two times/week to stimulate Zusanli(ST 36), Hegu(LI 4), Shenshu(BL 23), and Chize(LU5). While SG, had been applied to utilize a special "placebo-needle" technique on the same sites. What's more, the HRV parameters were calculated before and after interventions, respectively.RESULTS: First, stress index(SI) had a significantly increased in SG(P = 0.031) compare pre-test with post-test, however, no significantly difference in AG(P = 0.102). Secondly, standard deviation of N-N intervals(SNDD) have enormously significantly high-er in AG when comparing baseline with post therapy(P = 0.001), while, declined in SG(P = 0.827).Meanwhile, the root mean square of successive differences(RMSSD) were significant differences in AG(P = 0.023). What's more, when the high-frequency(HF) were significantly higher in AG(P = 0.047) after receiving the acupuncture therapy, the lowe-frequency(LF) power were decreased but no significant in AG and SG. Comparing with pre-experiment, the ratio of LF/HF was lower in AG, but higher in SG. Furthermore, it was significant difference when compare the post-experiment parameters of AG with SG(P = 0.015). And HF parameters have significance(P = 0.005) compare between two groups during the post-experiment.CONCLUSION: Based on evidence, acupuncture therapy on special acupoints could strengthen the parasympathetic nervous activity and modulates the balance between parasympathetic and sympathetic activity in soccer players while they engage in high-intensity training. 展开更多
