Despite of modern navigation devices, there are problems in navigation of vessels in waterways due to the geographical structures, disturbances in water, dynamic nature, and heavily environmental influenced sea traffic. Even though all vessels are equipped with modern navigation devices, the accidents are reported caused by various reasons and mainly by human factor according to investigation. We propose an effective and efficient composition collision risk calculation method for finding the collision probability and avoiding the collision between ships in possible collision situations. The proposed composition collision risk calculation method at ship's position using combination of fuzzy and fuzzy comprehensive evaluation methods. The algorithm is straightforward to implement and is shown to be effective in automatic ship handling for ships involved in complex navigation situations. Experiments are carried out with indigenous data and the results show the effectiveness of the proposed approach. 展开更多

Teacher evaluations intend to cultivate quality among teachers. However, since they are traditionally dependent on observers and their reports that are likely biased, the procedures probably effectuate discords among the calling-teaching professionals. An evaluation procedure that can ascertain fairness in the decisions about teacher retentions, terminations, promotions, and sanctions can capture the accordance of all teachers and teacher facilitators. This paper identifies the possibility of such an evaluation system that is built upon the existing value-added methods. Drawing upon the observations and recommendations by Chetty, Friedman, and Rockoff (2012) on value-added methods of evaluation, and considering the uniqueness of ELTs (English Language Teachers) as it was observed by Borg (2006) and Lee (2010), this paper describes the application of the value-added evaluation method, in gauging the quality of ELTs. The paper further explicates the vantages and conformities embodied in the procedure that could boost up the morale of ELTs as independent professionals of a creative art, and help them perform to their fullest potential 展开更多

Evaluation of Heat and Current Characteristics of Bypass Diodes for Fault Detection in Photovoltaic Module

In this study, the temperature ... In recent years, PV (photovoltaic) systems have been installed rapidly around the world. However, there is often a delay in the practical application of fault detection in PV systems. In this study, the temperature of BD (bypass diodes) mounted on PV modules was measured for simple and practical fault detection. The temperature of the BD of Module 31 was higher than other modules and a large current passed through one of the BDs. Measuring BD temperatures is easier than other conventional methods of fault detection. From the results of the rise in BD temperature under dark conditions, the increase in temperature increased linearly with increasing current flow. There is a proportional relationship between heat generated and the increasing temperature of the terminal box. The experimental results about surface temperature of the junction box in actual system operation suggested that the electric current through a BD in a terminal box can be known by measuring the surface temperature of the terminal box for PV module fault detection without a system shutdown. Moreover, we tried to evaluate temperature distribution of a terminal box using heat conduction equations. The evaluated results agreed well with the measured results. 展开更多
