The impact of cold rolling deformation,which was introduced after solid solution and before aging treatment,on microstructure evolution and mechanical properties of the as-extruded spray formed Al−9.8Zn−2.3Mg−1.73Cu−0.13Cr(wt.%)alloy,was investigated.SEM,TEM,and EBSD were used to analyze the microstructures,and tensile tests were conducted to assess mechanical properties.The results indicate that the D1-T6 sample,subjected to 25%cold rolling deformation,exhibits finer grains(3.35μm)compared to the D0-T6 sample(grain size of 4.23μm)without cold rolling.Cold rolling refines the grains that grow in solution treatment.Due to the combined effects of finer and more dispersed precipitates,higher dislocation density and smaller grains,the yield strength and ultimate tensile strength of the D1-T6 sample can reach 663 and 737 MPa,respectively.In comparison to the as-extruded and D0-T6 samples,the yield strength of the D1-T6 sample increases by 415 and 92 MPa,respectively. 展开更多

3D Ice Shape Description Method Based on BLSOM Neural Network

When checking the ice shape calculation software,its accuracy is judged based on the proximity between the calculated ice shape and the typical test ice shape.Therefore,determining the typical test ice shape becomes the key task of the icing wind tunnel tests.In the icing wind tunnel test of the tail wing model of a large amphibious aircraft,in order to obtain accurate typical test ice shape,the Romer Absolute Scanner is used to obtain the 3D point cloud data of the ice shape on the tail wing model.Then,the batch-learning self-organizing map(BLSOM)neural network is used to obtain the 2D average ice shape along the model direction based on the 3D point cloud data of the ice shape,while its tolerance band is calculated using the probabilistic statistical method.The results show that the combination of 2D average ice shape and its tolerance band can represent the 3D characteristics of the test ice shape effectively,which can be used as the typical test ice shape for comparative analysis with the calculated ice shape. 展开更多

Wire-arc additive manufacture(WAAM)has great potential for manufacturing of Al-Cu components.However,inferior mechanical properties of WAAM deposited material restrict its industrial application.Inter-layer cold rolling and thermo-mechanical heat treatment(T8)with pre-stretching deformation between solution and aging treatment were adopted in this study.Their effects on hardness,mechanical properties and microstructure were analyzed and compared to the conventional heat treatment(T6).The results show that cold rolling increases the hardness and strengths,which further increase with T8 treatment.The ultimate tensile strength(UTS)of 513 MPa and yield stress(YS)of 413 MPa can be obtained in the inter-layer cold-rolled sample with T8 treatment,which is much higher than that in the as-deposited samples.The cold-rolled samples show higher elongation than that of as-deposited ones due to significant elimination of porosity in cold rolling;while both the T6 and T8 treatments decrease the elongation.The cold rolling and pre-stretching deformation both contribute to the formation of dense and dispersive precipitatedθ′phases,which inhibits the dislocation movement and enhances the strengths;as a result,T8 treatment shows better strengthening effect than the T6 treatment.The strengthening mechanism was analyzed and it was mainly related to work hardening and precipitation strengthening. 展开更多

The effects of heat treatment parameters on the microstructure,and mechanical properties and fractured morphology of Ti-5Al-2Sn-2Zr-4Mo-4Cr with the equiaxed,bi-modal and Widmanst?tten microstructures were investigated.The heating temperatures for obtaining the equiaxed,bi-modal and Widmanst?tten microstructures were 830,890 and 920 °C,respectively,followed by furnace cooling at a holding time of 30 min.The volume fraction of primary α phase decreased with increasing the heating temperature,which was 45.8% at 830 °C,and decreased to 15.5% at 890 °C,and then the primary α phase disappeared at 920 °C during furnace cooling.The variation of volume fraction of primary α phase in air cooling is similar to that in furnace cooling.The increase in heating temperature and furnace cooling benefited the precipitation and growth of the secondary α phase.The equiaxed microstructure exhibited excellent mechanical properties,in which the ultimate strength,yield strength,elongation and reduction in area were 1035 MPa,1011 MPa,20.8% and 58.7%,respectively.The yield strength and elongation for the bi-modal microstructure were slightly lower than those of the equiaxed microstructure.The Widmanst?tten microstructure exhibited poor ductility and low yield strength,while the ultimate strength reached 1078 MPa.The dimple fractured mechanism for the equiaxed and bi-modal microstructures proved excellent ductility.The coexistence of dimple and intercrystalline fractured mechanisms for the Widmanst?tten microstructure resulted in the poor ductility. 展开更多

The microstrucatre observation results reveal that some δ' and T1 precipitates are found in a(Al) matrix of 2A97 alloy processed by the heat treatment with no pre-stretch deformation. When the pre-stretch deformation is 3% and 6%, respectively, amounts of tiny T1 and a few of S' precipitates precipitates are observed in the microstructures of 2A97 alloy. The tensile test results show that the tensile properties of 2A97 alloys are improved via thermo-mechanical treatment. When the pre-stretch deformation is from 0, 3% to 6%, the ultimate tensile strength values of the 2A97 alloys increase gradually from 447.7, 516.5 to 534.3 MPa, and the elongations decrease from 17.6%, 12.8% to 10.2%, respectively. Moreover, with increasing pre-stretch deformation amount from 0 to 6%, the in-plane anisotropy value of 2A97 alloys becomes more obvious. 展开更多

A sloping semisolid rheo-rolling process of Mg-3Sn-1Mn alloy was developed, and the effects of process parameters on the microstructure and mechanical properties of Mg-3Sn-lMn alloy strip were studied. The results show that the primary grain average diameter of the strip increases with the increase of the roll speed. The primary grain average diameter decreases firstly and then increases with the increase of the vibration frequency, and the tensile strength and elongation of the strip increase firstly and then decrease with the increase of the vibration frequency. The primary grain average diameter increases with the increase of casting temperature, and the tensile strength and elongation of the strip decrease correspondingly. When the casting temperature is 670℃, the roll speed is 52 mm/s, and the vibration frequency is 60 Hz, Mg-3Sn-1Mn alloy strip with good properties is produced. The mechanical properties of the present product are higher than those of Mg-3Sn-lMn alloy casting with the addition of 0.87% Ce (mass fraction). 展开更多

Asymmetric rolling (ASR), as one of severe plastic deformation (SPD) methods to make ultra-fine materials with enhanced performance is mainly used to prepare foil and thin strip. The asymmetrical rolling was achieved by adjusting the diameters of the upper roll and the bottom roll and was used to prepare hot-rolled thick plate of 5182 aluminium alloy. The shear deformation and plate shape control were experimentally studied. The experimental results show that asymmetrical rolling has a significant effect on metal deformation stream and can somehow refine microstructure and improve the uniformity of microstructure and properties. The asymmetrical rolling process can also reduce the rolling force. However, bending of rolling plate often happens during asymmetrical rolling process. Effects of process parameters on microstructure and mechanical properties of the AM50A magnesium alloy components formed by double control forming (DCF) were investigated via a four-factor and four-level orthogonal experiment. The variable curves of DCF showed that the forging procedure was started in the following 35 ms after the injection procedure was completed. It was confirmed that the high-speed filling and high-pressure densifying were combined together in the DCF process. Better surface quality and higher mechanical properties were achieved in the components formed by DCF as compared to die casting (DC) due to the refined and uniform microstructure with a few defects or without defects. Injection speed affected more effectively the yield strength (YS), ultimate tensile strength (UTS) and elongation as compared to pouring temperature, die temperature and forging force. But the pouring temperature had a more significant effect on hardness as compared to injection speed, die temperature and forging force. Pouring temperature of 675 &#176;C, injection speed of 2.7 m/s and forging force of 4000 kN except for die temperature were the optimal parameters for obtaining the highest YS, UTS, elongation and Vickers hardness. Die temperatures of 205, 195, 195 and 225 &#176;C were involved in achieving the highest YS, UTS, elongation and Vickers hardness, respectively. Obvious microporosity and microcracks were found on the fracture surface of the components formed by DC, deteriorating the mechanical properties. However, the tensile fracture morphology of the components formed by DCF was characterized by ductile fracture due to a large number of dimples and no defects, which was beneficial for improving the mechanical properties. 展开更多

With increasing the Gd content, as-cast microstructure... Microstructures and phase compositions of as-cast and extruded ZK60-xGd (x=0-4) alloys were investigated. Meanwhile, the tensile mechanical property was tested. With increasing the Gd content, as-cast microstructure is refined gradually. Mg-Zn-Gd new phase increases gradually, while MgZn2 phase decreases gradually to disappear. The second phase tends to distribute along grain boundary by continuous network. As-cast tensile mechanical property is reduced slightly at ambient temperature when the Gd content does not exceed 2.98%. After extrusion by extrusion ratio of 40 and extrusion temperature of 593 K, microstructure is refined further with decreasing the average grain size to 2 μm for ZK60-2.98Gd alloy. Broken second phase distributes along the extrusion direction by zonal shape. Extruded tensile mechanical property is enhanced significantly. Tensile strength values at 298 and 473 K increase gradually from 355 and 120 MPa for ZK60 alloy to 380 and 164 MPa for ZK60-2.98Gd alloy, respectively. Extruded tensile fractures exhibit a typical character of ductile fracture. 展开更多

The microstructural evolution and kinetic characteristics were studied during solution treatment of AM60B Mg alloy prepared by thixoforming. The results indicate that the microstructural evolution includes two stages: the first stage involves rapid dissolution of eutectic β (Mg 17 Al 12 ) phase, homogenization and coarsening, and the second stage is regarded as normal grain growth consisting of primary α-Mg particles (primary particles) and secondary α-Mg grains (secondary grains). In the first stage, the dissolution completes in a quite short time because the fine β phase can quickly dissolve into the small-sized secondary grains. The homogenization of Al element needs relatively long time. Simultaneously, the microstructure morphology and average grain size obviously change. The first stage sustains approximately 1 h when it is solutionized at 395 ℃ Comparatively, the second stage needs very long time and the microstructure evolves quite slowly as a result of low Al content gradient and thus low diffusivity of Al element after the homogenization of the first stage. The growth model of primary particles obeys power function while that of the secondary grains follows the traditional growth equation in the first stage. In the second stage, both of the primary particles and secondary grains behave a same model controlled by diffusion along grain boundaries and through crystal lattice. 展开更多

A set of uniaxial tensile creep tests at different pre-deformations, aging temperatures and stress levels were carried out for Al-Li-S4 alloy, and the creep behavior and the effects of pre-deformation on mechanical properties and microstructures were determined under basic thermodynamics conditions of aging forming. The results show that pre-deformation shortens the time of primary creep and raises the second steady-state creep rate. Then, the total creep strain is greater, but in the range of test parameters it is still smaller than that without pre-deformation. In addition, transmission electron microscopy(TEM) observation shows that pre-deformation promotes the formation of T1 phase and θ′ phase and makes them distribute more dispersively, while inhibits the generation of δ′ phase, which leads to the improvement of mechanical properties of the alloy. A unified constitutive model reflecting the effects of aging mechanism, stress levels and different pre-deformations was established. The fitting results agree with the experimental data well. 展开更多

A series of rod samples with diameter of 3 mm(Zr0.55Al0.10Ni0.05Cu0.30)100-xFex(x=0,1,2,3,4) were prepared by magnetic suspend melting and copper mold suction casting method.The effects of a small amount of Fe on glass forming ability(GFA) and mechanical properties of Zr55Al10Ni5Cu30 bulk metallic glass(BMG) were investigated.The results show that the addition of an appropriate amount(less than 3%,mole fraction) of Fe enhances GFA,as indicated by the increase in the reduced glass transition temperature Trg(=Tg/Tl) and the parameter γ(=Tx/(Tg+Tl)) with increasing Fe content,and GFA gets deteriorated by further Fe addition(4%).The addition of Fe also effectively improves the compressive plasticity and increases the compressive fracture strength in these Zr-based BMGs.Compressive tests on BMG sample with 3 mm in diameter and 6 mm in length reveal work-hardening and a certain plastic strain in the alloy containing 2% Fe.The BMG composite containing 4% Fe also exhibits a high fracture strength along with significant plasticity. 展开更多

As-received nickel-titanium (NiTi) shape memory alloy with a nominal composition of Ni50.9Ti49.1 (mole fraction,%) was subjected to solution treatment at 1123 K for 2 h and subsequent aging for 2 h at 573 K, 723 K and 873 K, respectively. The influence of solution treatment and aging on microstructural evolution and mechanical behavior of NiTi alloy was systematically investigated by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), high resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and compression test. Solution treatment contributes to eliminating the Ti2Ni phase in the as-received NiTi sample, in which the TiC phase is unable to be removed. Solution treatment leads to ordered domain of atomic arrangement in NiTi alloy. In all the aged NiTi samples, the Ni4Ti3 precipitates, the R phase and the B2 austenite coexist in the NiTi matrix at room temperature, while the martensitic twins can be observed in the NiTi samples aged at 873 K. In the NiTi samples aged at 573 and 723 K, the fine and dense Ni4Ti3 precipitates distribute uniformly in the NiTi matrix, and thus they are coherent with the B2 matrix. However, in the NiTi sample aged at 873 K, the Ni4Ti3 precipitates exhibit the very inhomogeneous size, and they are coherent, semi-coherent and incoherent with the B2 matrix. In the case of aging at 723 K, the NiTi sample exhibits the maximum yield strength, where the fine and homogeneous Ni4Ti3 precipitates act as the effective obstacles against the dislocation motion, which results in the maximum critical resolved shear stress for dislocation slip. 展开更多

Objective In order to probe into the morphological and histological characteristics of the telencephalon of Onychodactylusfischeri, and to enrich the comparable neurobiology. Method HE-staining method was used to describe the characters of the telencephalon of Onychodactylus fischeri. Results The olfactory bulb of Onychodactylus fischeri locates in the rastral and lateral to the cerebral hemisphere, and six distinct layers can be identified from the lateral to the medial, quite similar to Batrachuperus tibetanus and Hynobius leechii. In the cerebrum, the primordial hippocampus developed better than the primordial piriform. The former belongs to archipallium and the latter is paleopallium. Ventral to the primordial hippocampus there is a septal area which cannot be divided into medial and lateral parts. In the ventrical wall, there is neither medial limiting sulcus nor lateral limiting sulcus to saperate the primordial hippocampus and the septal area, or the primordial piriform and the corpus striatum. The corpus striatum of Onychodactylusfischeri is paleostriatum. There is choroids plexus anterior in the lateral ventricle. The cell group that located at two sides of the third ventricle is the amygdale. Besides, the shape and size of neurons within the telencephalon are poorly differentiated. Histological and immunocytochemical study of deferens ducts in the Chinese rat snake (Zaocys dhumnades)

To investigate the relationship between structure and function of the deferens ducts in the Chinese rat snake (Zaocys dhumnades), morphological changes within an annual cycle were observed by routine histological techniques. Also, the correlation of androgen receptor (AR), estrogen receptor (ER), progesterone receptor (PR) and aromatase (Ar) expressions in the vas deferens and testis were studied immunohistochemically. To confh'm that the sperm and the spherical structure existed in deferens ducts, we also used routine histological technique observed deferens ducts in the Striped-tailed rat-snake (Elaphe taeniura), Red-banded snake (Dinodon rufozonatum), and Tiger-spotted neck- troughed snake (Rhabdophis tigrina lateralis). The results showed that the deferens ducts of the Chinese Rat Snake were composed of efferent duct, epididymal duct and vas deferens. Efferent duct contained sperm from August-October, and the sperm were observed in the epididymal duct from August-the following January. Throughout the year (except July) a large number of sperm were present in the vas deferens where a previously unreported spherical structure formed by spermatids was observed, which showed no significant differences in the IOD values of AR-, ER-, PR- and Ar- immunoreactivities. Since the spermatids in the spherical structure were undergoing spermatogenesis and this phenomenon also existed in the Striped-tailed rat-snake and Red-banded snake, the term, seminiferous spherule, was named for this spherical structure This study demonstrated that the testis was the main site for snake spermiogenesis, and the seminiferous spherule in vas deferens was the other Both the epididymis and vas deferens stored sperm; however, the vas deferens was the main organ for sperm storage. 展开更多

The microstructures and phase compositions of the as-cast and die-cast Mg-6.02Al-1.03 Sm, Mg-6.05Al-0.98Sm-0.56 Bi and Mg-5.95Al-1.01Sm-0.57 Zn alloys were investigated. Meanwhile, the tensile mechanical and flow properties were tested. The results show that the as-cast microstructure of Mg-6.02Al-1.03 Sm alloy is composed of δ-Mg matrix, discontinuous δ-Mg17Al12 phase and small block Al2 Sm phase with high thermal stability. Rod Mg3Bi2 phase precipitates when Bi is added, while the added metal Zn dissolves into δ-Mg matrix and δ-Mg17Al12 phase. The as-cast alloys exhibit the excellent tensile mechanical property. The tensile strength(δb) and elongation(δ) can reach 205-235 MPa and 8.5%-16.0% at ambient temperature, respectively. Meanwhile, they can also exceed 160 MPa and 14.0% at 423 K, respectively. The die-cast microstructures are refined obviously, and meanwhile the broken second phases distribute dispersedly. The die-cast alloys exhibit better tensile mechanical properties with the values of δb and δ of 240-285 MPa and 8.5%-16.5% at ambient temperature, respectively, and excellent flow property with the flow length of 1870-2420 mm. The die-cast tensile fractures at ambient temperature exhibit a typical character of ductile fracture. 展开更多

METHODS Immunohistochemical investigation and the semiquantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) were used to assess the expression of SFRP1, β-catenin (β-cat) and E-caderin (E-cad) in matched samples of normal colorectal mucosa, adenomas and cancers. RESULTS SFRP1 mRNA expression was down-regulated in the neoplasms, and abnormal expressions of β-cat and E-cad were found in colorectal adenomas and colorectal cancers. CONCLUSION Down-regulation of SFRP1 observed is consistent with its acting as a tumor suppressor gene in colorectal tumorigenesis. 展开更多

The mechanical properties, microstructures, and fractographs of TA15 sheets vacuum-annealed under different patterns were investigated. The results indicate that vacuum annealing significantly improves the mechanical properties of the sheets in comparison with those after ambient annealing. With increasing the annealing temperature, the phase boundaries and secondary a-phase increase, whereas the volume fraction of primary a-phase decreases, resulting in increased strength and decreased elongation A relatively fine secondary a-phase is obtained after double annealing. The desirable mechanical properties (i.e., ultimate tensile strength, yield strength, and elongation are 1070 MPa, 958 MPa, and 15%, respectively) are obtained through double annealing ((950 ℃/2 h, AC)+(600 ℃/2 h, AC)). The fractographs obtained after tensile tests show that the deepest and largest dimples are formed in the specimen annealed at 850 ℃, which indicates that the best plasticity is obtained at this annealing temperature. 展开更多

The number of patients with gastric cancer has more than doubled since 1985 in developing countries. Thus, the questions of whether it can be predicted from gastritis morphology, who is at risk and who has a lower risk of developing gastric carcinoma are raised. H pylori-infection leads to erosions, ulcerations, carcinoma, mucosa associated lymphoid tissue (MALT)- lymphoma and extragastric diseases only in some individuals. The frequency of ulcerations among H pylori-infected individuals is estimated to be 13%, gastric cancer about 1% and MALT lymphoma around 0.1%. In the literature a multistep model from chronic active H pylori -infection through multifocal atrophy, intestinal metaplasia, dysplasia (intraepithelial neoplasia) and carcinoma has been described. But this model cannot be applied to all routine cases. Since risk factors such as metaplasia and atrophy are paracancerous rather than precancerous conditions, this raises the question whether there is a better morphological marker. Differences in topography, grade and activity of Helicobacter gastritis in the antrum and corpus might be good markers for identifying those who are at risk of developing gastric cancer. It is known that the so-called corpus dominant H pylori gastritis is found more frequently among individuals with early and advanced gastric cancer and within high risk populations. This is valid both for first- degree relatives of gastric cancer patients and for patients with gastric adenoma and hyperplastic polyps. In conclusion, corpus-dominant H pylori gastritis is significantly more common in patients with advanced and early gastric cancer, first-degree relatives of patients with gastric cancer, patients with gastric adenoma and gastric hyperplastic polyps. Therefore, all these patients are at risk of developing gastric cancer. Next, the question of who is at risk of developing corpus-dominant gastritis is raised. It appears that patients with a low acid output more frequently develop gastric cancer. Eradication therapy is never performed too early but probably sometimes too late after the patients pass a “point of no return”. Large prospective long term studiesare necessary to prove this and identify new reliable markers for gastric cancer development. 展开更多
