Methods Image fusion technology was applied to biological cell imaging processing. It could match the images and improve the confidence and spatial resolution of the images. Using two algorithms, double thresholds algorithm and denoising algorithm based on wavelet transform, the fluorescence image and transmission image of a Cell were merged into a composite image. Results and Conclusion The position of fluorescence and the structure of cell can be displyed in the composite image. The signal-to-noise ratio of the exultant image is improved to a large extent. The algorithms are not only useful to investigate the fluorescence and transmission images, but also suitable to observing two or more fluoascent label proes in a single cell.展开更多

The active contour method for image segmentation is a well known method for automatic detection of the cell contour. However, the application of this method on colon cell images was not effective. In this paper, the authors have proposed a new technique to reduce the analysis time needed to detect cells in a given image. This technique is based on the active contour method but now using a progressive division of the dimensions of the image to achieve convergence. The model proposed succeeded in detecting cells whose boundaries are not necessarily defined by a gradient. The initial curve can be anywhere in the image, and interior contours can be automatically detected. The developed algorithm was successfully applied on textured multispectral images of three types of cells, including benign hyperplasia (BH), intraepithelial neoplasia (IN), and carcinoma (Ca) cells.展开更多

Cell death was assessed by Live/Dead staining and image analysis. Reaulta The EPCs death rate seemed not affected by 48 h hypoxia ( P 〉 0. 05 ), but affected by SD ( P 〈 0. 01 ). Prolonged hypoxia concomitant with SD resulted in the death of nearly all EPCs from 72 h, but this rate was remarkably reduced when with 20% fetal bovine serum( P 〈 0. 01 ). Conclusion Our findings indicate that EPCs are sensitive to hypoxia/SD stimuli, while serum may be the more important factor for EPCs survival.展开更多
