This product was identified as p-hydroxy benzyl alcohol on the basis of its 1H, 13C NMR and EI-MS spectral data. It could be inferred that the enzyme responsible for the biotransforma-tion reaction was a kind of extracellular and constitutive enzyme since the transformation reaction of the substrate could be carried out in cell free extracts of the fermentation broth of the Mucor spinosus.展开更多

Methods: By using the transplantation tumor mouse models, the effects of Aidi Dripping Pills on the lymphocyte transformation rate and the hemolysin formation in the Sis0 tumor-bearing mice, and on the phagocytic function of macrophages in the abdominal cavity of H22 tumor-bearing mice were investigated. Results: In the 2.25 g/kg and 1.125 g/kg Aidi Dripping Pills groups, the lymphocyte transformation rates in the Sis0 tumor-bearing mice were significantly higher than that of the control group (P〈0.01). In all the Aidi Dripping Pills groups, HC50 significantly increased (P〈0.01 or P〈0.05), carbon granular clearance significantly raised, and both the phagocytic index and phagocytic coefficient were significantly higher than those in the control group (P〈0.01 or P〈0.05). Conclusion: The Aidi Dripping Pills can significantly increase the cellular immune function, the humoral immune function and the phagocytic function of the mononuclear- macrphages, so it may show anti-tumor effects by enhancing the function of the reticuloendothelial system.展开更多

Methods: We applied hydraulic pressure (50 cmH2O) to normal rat kidney tubular epithelial cells (NRK52E) for different durations. Furthermore, different pressure magnitudes were applied to cells. The morphology, cytoskeleton, and expression ofmyofibroblastic marker protein and transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF-β1) of NRK52E cells were examined. Results Disorganized actin filaments and formation of curling clusters in actin were seen in the cytoplasm of pressurized cells. We verified that de novo expression α-smooth muscle actin induced by pressure, which indicated TEMT, was dependent on both the magnitude and duration of pressure. TGF-β1 expression was significantly upregulated under certain conditions, which implies that the induction of TEMT by hydraulic pressure is related with TGF-β1. Conclusion: We illustrate for the first time that hydraulic pressure can induce TEMT in a pressure magnitude- and duration-dependent manner, and that this TEMT is accompanied by TGF-β1 secretion.展开更多
