The current fossil fuel energy system must be improved to ensure a better and cleaner transportation future for the world. Despite the fact that the marine transportation sector consumes only 5% of global petroleum production; it is responsible for 15% of the world NOx and SOx emissions. These figures must be the engine that powers the scientific research worldwide to develop new solutions for a very old energy problem. In this paper, the most effective types of marine power plants were discussed. The history of the development of each type was presented first and the technical aspects were discussed second. Also, the fuel ceils as a new type of power plants used in marine sector were briefed to give a complete overview of the past, present and future of the marine power plants development. Based on the increased worldwide concerns regarding harmful emissions, many researchers have introduced solutions to this problem, including the adoption of new cleaner fuels. This paper was guided using the same trend and by implementing the hydrogen as fuel for marine internal combustion engine, gas turbines, and fuel cells.展开更多

Gradual increases of distributed generation will cover current and future demand of consumers as well as allow to keep essential reserves in distribution and transmission grids. Emphasizing on this problem can upgrade economic efficiency and grid significance of distributed generation for investors and distribution utilities in Poland.展开更多

According to the sample pipeline characteristics and pipeline topography, reachable energy have been estimated; in the next step, pay attending to reachable energy, initial investment cost, total benefit of operating period, benefit to cost ratio and other economical parameters for small hydro-power plants in case study pipelines have been presented and generated power cost of the same amount via other resources compared to the hydro-power cost. At the end, in agreement with environmental advantages of small hydro-power plants, the methods of generated power utilization, proper solution for optimization of reachable energy in water transmission pipeline and substitution of pressure reducing valve by small hydro-power plant in the pipelines as a major solution for energy recovering in water pipelines have been proposed.展开更多

Thanks to the implemented solution, wind generation is consequently confronted to operational constraints related to high powered thermal units, nuclear parks or thermal machines with technical minimum value. Moreover, during each simulated system state, a DC load flow is also calculated in order to evaluate reinforcements optimizing the large scale integration of wind power production. The simulation tool modified during the present work is called Scanner and is the property of Tractebel Engineering (Gaz de France-Suez) company. It has been here applied to an academic test system: the Roy Billinton Test System (RBTS).展开更多
