The increasing scale and complexity of power systems require high performance and high reliability of power system protection.Protective relaying based on directional comparison with power line carrier or microwave ch...The increasing scale and complexity of power systems require high performance and high reliability of power system protection.Protective relaying based on directional comparison with power line carrier or microwave channels is the most suitable protection scheme for long distance EHV transmission lines and is widely used in power systems.The key element of such protection is a directional relay used to discriminate the fault direction.In order to overcome the disadvantages of conventional directional relays,the authors of this paper put forward the directional comparison carrier protection based on the artificial neural network(ANN).The protection is extensively tested using electromagnetic transient program (EMTP) under various electric power system operating and fault conditions.It is proved that the directional comparison carrier protection based on ANN,which can recognize various fault patterns of the protected transmission line(such as fault direction,fault phases etc.)correctly in any kind of operating and fault conditions and the whole process,is satisfactory for EHV transmission line protection.展开更多

The fault dictionary of nonlinear circuits is constructed based on improved back-propagation(BP) neural network. The as-obtained SBP-BF4 was dissolved in AN and used as the electrolyte for supercapacitor. Electrochemical measurements demonstrate that, compared with commercial electrolyte TEMA-BF4/AN, SBP-BF4/AN exhibits high ionic conductivity, lower resistance and improved cycling performance, which is due to its smaller ion size and stable symmetry structure.展开更多

Nicotine is a central nervous system stimulant and acts on cardiocirculatory and metabolic systems, involving tissue blood flow and circulatory vasoreactivity. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of the oral smokeless tobacco (Swedish snus (SS)) on the perception of fatigue and time to exhaustion (TTE) during moderate-intensity aerobic exercise. Methods: Fourteen healthy non-tobacco male users were recruited for a double-blind, controlled crossover design (SS vs. snus placebo (SP)). Subjects were tested for 3 sessions: experimental session 1 (Exp 1) consisted of an incremental test to determine the maximal aerobic power out-put (Wmax), whereas Exp2 and Exp3 consisted of exercising at 65%Wmax until exhaustion in SS or SP conditions. During Exp2 and Exp3, muscle and cerebral oxygenation was assessed by means of near-infrared spectroscopy, and the rating of perceived exertion (RPE) was recorded. Results: Comparing SS with SP tests, significant differences (p 〈 0.05) were found in the values of cerebral (-3%) and muscular tissues oxygenation (-4%) in the first 30 min of exercise. The RPE values were not significantly different between the 2 conditions (SS vs. SP). No significant difference was found in TTE (SS: 54.25 ± 21.84 min; SP: 50.01 ± 17.03 min). Conclusion: This study showed that muscular and cerebral oxygenation increased significantly with snus administration during an endurance exercise until exhaustion, but this did not affect fatigue perception and TTE. Datong-Qinhuangdao line, as the first electrified double-track heavy-haul line dedicated to coal transport in China, extends from Datong in the west, and reaches Qinhuangdao in the east, opened to traffic in December,...Datong-Qinhuangdao line, as the first electrified double-track heavy-haul line dedicated to coal transport in China, extends from Datong in the west, and reaches Qinhuangdao in the east, opened to traffic in December, 1992, totaling 653 km with the designed annual traffic volume of 1×108 t. In order to meet the demands of national economic development, the transport capacity of the line must be enhanced greatly. Depending on independent innovation, MOR, for the first time in the world,realizes the integration between GSM-R and Locotrol, the integration between 800 MHz digital radio and Locotrol, and the integration between a single set of Locotrol and SS4 locomotive. Meanwhile, CR develops equipment portfolio for heavy-haul through combining 2 high power locomotives of HXD series (means harmony) with controllable EOT. Relying on integration and innovation, it succeeds in operating 20 kt-level combined heavy-haul train on Datong-Qinhuangdao line, which tripled the annual traffic volume of the line from 1×108 t in 2002 to 3×108 t in 2007.展开更多

As a countermeasure, installation of the reactive power control of an inverter at each residence has been considered. However, there are not many types of inverters that can operate reactive power control because there are insufficient effects on a low voltage distribution line with low penetration PV with reactive power control. Therefore, it is necessary to consider how to increase generation efficiency with a lower number of inverters. In this paper, four Japanese standard distribution line structures, for example of a residential area on "C1", where 2,160 residential PV systems are grid-interconnected, are selected. The optimal setting of reactive power control at each residence is computed on the distribution lines with a greedy method.展开更多

The applications of neural networks based f...In modem protection relays, the accurate and fast fault location is an essential task for transmission line protection from the point of service restoration and reliability. The applications of neural networks based fault location techniques to transmission line are available in many papers. However, almost all the studies have so far employed the FNN (feed-forward neural network) trained with back-propagation algorithm (BPNN) which has a better structure and been widely used. But there are still many drawbacks if we simply use feed-forward neural network, such as slow training rate, easy to trap into local minimum point, and bad ability on global search. In this paper, feed-forward neural network trained by PSO (particle swarm optimization) algorithm is proposed for fault location scheme in 500 kV transmission system with distributed parameters presentation, The purpose is to simulate distance protection relay. The algorithm acts as classifier which requires phasor measurements data from one end of the transmission line and DFT (discrete Fourier transform). Extensive simulation studies carried out using MATLAB show that the proposed scheme has the ability to give a good estimation of fault location under various fault conditions.展开更多

Under the network environment, sources of information are of diversity and multi-channel.
