The development of efficient and stable non-mercury catalysts for the chlor-alkali industry is desirable but remains a great challenge.Herein,we design a series of ruthenium catalysts for acetylene hydrochlorination b...The development of efficient and stable non-mercury catalysts for the chlor-alkali industry is desirable but remains a great challenge.Herein,we design a series of ruthenium catalysts for acetylene hydrochlorination by regulating the electronic structure of ruthenium ions through coordination with various ligands(thiourea,phenanthroline,and L-lactic).The turnover frequencies(TOFs)and apparent activation energies for the acetylene hydrochlorination have a linear relationship with the binding energy of Ru3+in the ruthenium catalysts.The synergetic effect of the ruthenium ion and ligands plays an important role in acetylene hydrochlorination.The Ru-Thi/AC catalyst with thiourea as the ligand shows the highest TOF and stability in acetylene hydrochlorination.The present study provides a rational method to regulate the electronic structure of supported metal catalysts with high catalytic performance exhibited by the carbon-supported heterogeneous catalysts.展开更多

In this paper,dendritic Bi film electrodes with porous structure had successfully been prepared on glassy carbon electrode using a constant current electrolysis method based on hydrogen bubble dynamic templates.The el...In this paper,dendritic Bi film electrodes with porous structure had successfully been prepared on glassy carbon electrode using a constant current electrolysis method based on hydrogen bubble dynamic templates.The electrode prepared using a large applied current density showed an increased internal electroactive area and a significantly improved electrochemical performance.The analytical utility of the prepared dendritic Bi film electrodes for the determination of Pb(Ⅱ)and Cd(Ⅱ)in the range of 5–50 μg·L^(-1)were presented in combination with square wave stripping voltammetry in model solution.Compared with non-porous Bi film electrode,the dendritic Bi film electrode exhibited higher sensitivity and lower detection limit.The prepared Bi film electrode with dendritic structure was also successfully applied to real water sample analysis.展开更多

The catalysts were characterized by means of XRD and FT-IR. The synthesis of butyraldehyde glycol acetal catalyzed by H3PW12O40/MCM-48 was studied with butyraldehyde and glycol as reactants. H3PW12O40/MCM-48 was an excellent catalyst for the synthesizing butyraldehyde glycol acetal and Keggin structure of H3PW12O40 kept unchanged after being impregnated on surface of the molecular sieve support. Effects of n(butyraldehyde): n(glycol), catalyst dosage, cyclohexane(water-stripped reagent) and reaction time on yields of the product were investigated. The optimum conditions had been found, that was, molar ratio of butyraldehyde to glycol was 1: 1.6, mass ratio of catalyst used to the reactants was 0.25% and reaction time was 75 min. Under these conditions, the yield of butyraldehyde glycol acetal can reach 79.74%.展开更多
Dividing wall column(DWC)is shown to be energy efficient compared to conventional column sequence for multi components separation,which is used for olefin separation in fluidization methanol to propylene process in th...Dividing wall column(DWC)is shown to be energy efficient compared to conventional column sequence for multi components separation,which is used for olefin separation in fluidization methanol to propylene process in the present work.Detailed design for pilot DWC was performed and five control structures,i.e.composition control(CC),temperature control(TC),composition-temperature control(CC-TC),temperature difference control(TDC),double temperature difference control(DTDC)were proposed to circumvent feed disturbance.Sensitivity analysis and singular value decomposition(SVD)were used as criterion to select the controlled temperature locations in TC,CC-TC,TDC and DTDC control loops.The steady simulation result demonstrates that 25.7% and 30.2% duty can be saved for condenser and reboiler by substituting conventional column sequence with DWC,respectively.As for control structure selection,TC and TDC perform better than other three control schemes with smaller maximum deviation and shorter settling time.展开更多

The light weight heat treated B-grade bulletproof steel was developed through composition design and optimization based on multiplex alloying,multiplex micro-alloying design ideas and complex phase structure strengthe...The light weight heat treated B-grade bulletproof steel was developed through composition design and optimization based on multiplex alloying,multiplex micro-alloying design ideas and complex phase structure strengthening theory.The puzzle how to avoid the quenching deformation problem of super high strength thin sheet was solved through heat treatment in a die with a set of cooling system.Such B-grade bulletproof steel plate has fine tempered lath martensite structure.The shooting and certification test results showed that the shoot resistance of B-grade bulletproof steel plate can meet the protection demand of Protection specification for cash carrying vehicles(GA 164—2005).In comparison with B-grade bulletproof steel plate made by one of the companies in Sweden,the weight of the developed B-grade bulletproof steel plate can be decreased by 8 %under the same shoot resistance condition.It will be meaningful for cash truck and anti-hijacking vehicle to realize light weight,energy conservation and emission reduction.展开更多

As a result, it has become difficult to decide which middleware i...The past decade has witnessed a huge increase in the number of proposed middleware solutions for robotic fleets operating in unstructured environments. As a result, it has become difficult to decide which middleware is the most appropriate for a specific application or application domain. In this paper we first extract a set of common and specific challenges that middlewares address, and group them according to the source domain they have originated within. These challenges are derived from a specific precision agriculture use-case based on the robotic fleet for weed control elaborated within the European project RHEA-robot fleets for highly effective agriculture and forestry management. Furthermore, the paper provides an analysis of a number of different middlewares and suggests a set of criteria for systemizing representative solutions. The aim of this analysis is to assist the process of finding an adequate middleware for a specific application domain.展开更多

In this paper, the authors present an analytical approach through the Structuration Theory: How a university can assess its culture for the purposes of design and development of the ERPs. The authors extend the Structuration Theory by integrating it with the Activity Theory to provide the means of evaluating the activities that the system is to perform. The cesium corrosion test was performed in simulated environment of high burn-up fuel pin. And main corrosion products in the specimen after the corrosion test were specified by TEM (transition electron microscopy) and SEM (scanning electron microscopy) in order to formulate a hypothesis of the cesium corrosion process. At the end of this study, it was found that the dominant factors of the corrosion process are the amount of cesium on the surface of the specimen, chromium content in the alloy, the supply rate of oxygen and temperature.展开更多

It looks at the functions of a ...The architecture of footbridge design takes the form of a number of submissions from leading architects and engineers, each setting out their views on bridge design--present and future. It looks at the functions of a bridge, defining purpose of place and context, the spirit of creativity and the reasoned progression of an idea. It also explores the exploitation of materials technology and construction innovation and the tension between lightness and mass and between sculpture and scale. Present parameters of tempered and laminated glass create possibility of modern architecture of footbridges which are being full of transparency and light reflex effects. Four projects, using glass panels designed by Santiago Calatrava, have been presented in this paper. GFRP (glass fiber retrofit polymer) makes new horizon in material technology, helps to enrich new conception of structure with longer durability, low weight of deck and new creation of architecture line. The paper has described a few results of FEM (finite element method) analysis of footbridge with modular bridge GFRP deck system. The footbridge was excited by impact and human-induced vibrations. Composite material consists of glass fibers and polymer matrix is a promising alternative against traditional materials. New architecture and modern material engineering are looking for fresh possibilities of form and shape of structure, long durability and extraordinary technical parameters of building elements.展开更多
Demand for power in Malaysia is projected to double the current demand in 2030. The current fuel mix for power generation is heavily dependent on fossil fuels. This has created energy supply and environmental sustaina...Demand for power in Malaysia is projected to double the current demand in 2030. The current fuel mix for power generation is heavily dependent on fossil fuels. This has created energy supply and environmental sustainability concerns to the industry. Furthermore, at the recent United Nations Climate Change Conference 2009-15th Conference of Parties (COP15), Malaysia had given the commitment to voluntary reduction of up to 40% in terms of emissions intensity of GDP by the year 2020 compared to 2005 levels. Renewable energy (RE) provides the best alternative in addressing these issues. In 2001, RE was regarded as the fifth fuel in the new Five Fuel Strategy of the National Energy Policy. Small Renewable Energy Program (SREP) was launched with the main objective of supporting the government's strategy to intensify the development of RE as the fifth fuel resource. Biomass, the largest amongst the main RE resources available, can be used for heat and power generation. With optimum utilization, the value ofbiomass resources in Malaysia is estimated to be more than RM 500 billion (USD 156 billion) over the next 20 years. Malaysia has the capacity to use renewable energy resources to address the national energy agenda.展开更多

Based on the requirements of applications within one category,we first induce and extract some inherent computing patterns or core computing kernels from the applications.Some computing models and innovative computing architectures will then be developed for these patterns or kernels,as well as the software mapping techniques. Finally those applications which can share and utilize those computing patterns or kernels can be executed very efficiently on those novel computing architectures. We think that the proposed approach may not be achievable within the existing technology. However,we believe that it will be available in the near future. Hence,we will describe this approach from the following four aspects:multiscale environment in the world,mesoscale as a key scale,energy minimization multiscale(EMMS)paradigm and our perspective.展开更多
