China's low-carbon transition must include industry structure adjustment, energy saving and efficiency increases, energy structure improvement, carbon sink development, adaptation capability, and low-carbon pilot schemes.Low-carbon urbanization is a key measure in China's low-carbon transition. China's urbanization faces high-carbon risks. Thus, this study presents a roadmap for transforming urbanization into a low-carbon one. The transition to low-carbon urbanization is a common trend in the developing world. There is a lot of room for international cooperation.展开更多

Recently emerged RNA-seq method has brought our understanding of eukaryotic transcriptomes to a new level, because it can resolve both gene expression level and alternative splicing events simultaneously. To gain a better understanding of cellular differentiation in gonads, we analyzed mRNA profiles from Drosophila testes and ovaries using RNA-seq. We identified a set of genes that have sex-specific isoforms in wild-type (WT) gonads, including several transcription factors. We found that differentiation of sperms from undifferentiated germ cells induced a dramatic downregulation of RNA splicing factors. Our data confirmed that RNA splicing events are significantly more frequent in the undifferentiated cell-enriched bag of marbles (barn) mutant testis, but downregulated upon differentiation in WT testis. Consistent with this, we showed that genes required for meiosis and terminal differentiation in WT testis were mainly regulated at the transcriptional level, but not by alternative splicing. Unexpectedly, we observed an increase in expression of all families of chromatin remodeling factors and histone modifying enzymes in the undifferentiated cell-enriched bam testis. More interestingly, chromatin regulators and histone modifying enzymes with opposite enzymatic activities are coenriched in undifferentiated cells in testis, suggesting that these cells may possess dynamic chromatin architecture. Finally, our data revealed many new features of the Drosophila gonadal transcriptomes, and will lead to a more comprehensive understanding of how differential gene expression and splicing regulate gametogenesis in Drosophila. Our data provided a foundation for the systematic study of gene expression and alternative splicing in many interesting areas of germ cell biology in Droso- phila, such as the molecular basis for sexual dimorphism and the regulation of the proliferation vs terminal differentiation programs in germline stem cell lineages. The GEO accession number for the raw and analyzed RNA-seq data is GSE16960.展开更多

This article investigates the optimal restructuring strategies under different dynamic factors and their numerous impacts on firm value. The concept of quasi-leverage is introduced and valuation models are built for corporate debt and equity under imperfect market conditions. The model’s input variables include the quasi-leverage and other firm-specific parameters, the output variables include multiple corporate security values. The restruc- turing cost is formulated in the form of exponential function, which allows us to observe the sensitivity of the variation in security values. The unified model and its analytical solution developed in this research allow us to examine the continuous changes of security values by dynamically changing the coupon rates, riskless interest rate, bankruptcy cost, quasi-leverage, personal tax rate, corporate taxes rate, transaction cost, firm risk, etc., so that the solutions provide useful guidance for financing and restructuring decisions.展开更多

At Present, China is in a speciat period of rapid economic develop- ment. Some enterprises focus on short-term profits and don't formulate long-term strategies. For example, with the rapid expansion of the steel industry, some serious problems have emerged. Based on principles of industrial ecology and the concept of circular economy, to develop a new development model, taking a new road to industrialization is very necessary. Re-examining the current steel enterprises, this' paper proposes the new methods of the integration of material, energy integration, water system integration and sharing of information and facilities. Through ecologi- calization of technology, system, and industrial structure and product structure adjustment, the eco-transformation of the modern steel industry will be gradually achieved in China展开更多

This demographic change has some impact on the economic and social situation of the latter, in particular, the functioning of the family structure and solidarity between generations. The successive crises (food and financial) coupled with structural adjustment programs have in fact worsened the problems of the elderly, without having for compensation, provided the corresponding benefits for other age groups. This study contributes to the analysis of changes over time in the family support system, especially with regard to household's heads aged in Cameroon. To achieve this, the discussion turns around three questions: (1) what is the extent and nature of the ageing in Cameroon? (2) what are the demographic, economic, and social implications? and (3) what is the impact of economic and social change on intergenerational relationships? The data used come from the Population Census (1976, 1987, and 2005), and the Cameroonian Household Survey of 2007. The gradual deterioration of the support system for the family, especially due to modernization, and the current and future numbers of older should bring more policymakers to meet the specific needs of this group in Cameroon.展开更多

In the transitional period of intertwined challenges, a spirit of commitment and dedication to real industries will allow China to occupy vantage points in world manufacturing and become an industrial power in the real sense. To a certain extent the beginning year of the 12th Five-Year Plan period (2011-2015), while.fraught with challenges and pain, marks a departure from cutthroat competition to quality growth for Chinese enterprises and entrepreneurs. From 2012, China's industrial and market economic systems will both head towards more sophisticated stages of development. This process coincides with the late stage of China's industrialization, which international experience suggests is often frauht with twists and challenges. Among these challenges, great attention must be paid to overcapacity industrial restructuring and upgrades, and the "reindustrialization" of developed countries. As China enters the late stage of its industrialization, particularly during the 13th Five-Year Plan period from 2016 to 2020, the promotion of industrial development is of strategic significance for China to successfully complete industrialization and its economy to adapt to the "new normal ". In the face of these new challenges regarding industrial development, policymakers must strive to increase the dynamism of growth for industrial economy. In this new era, the momentum of industrial growth derives from the integration of the supply impetus of industrialization and the pull of demand caused by urbanization, while, the comprehensive deepening of refom provides the key source of momentum.展开更多

The features of Cu2O NPs were characterized by XRD, TEM and UV-Vis absorption spectra. When the reducer was added into the reactant system at one time, the sizes of the Cu2O NPs are in the range of 120-140 nm. Most Cu2O NPs are sol- id spheres. As the reducer was divided into two equal parts and stepwisely added, almost all the NPs are hollow spheres with good size (150-170 nm) distribution and dispersity. But when the reducer was divided into three or four equal parts and stepwisely added, the NPs are hollow spheres, core-shell structures or solid spheres, and the sizes distribution of the products is deteriorated. The effect of sodium hydrate (NaOH) was also probed. Addition of NaOH speeded up the nucleation and growth processes of Cu2O NPs. With the alkalinity increase, the shells of the hollow spheres become compact and the thicknesses of the shells increase, but the size distribution of the NPs is deteriorated. The absorption spectra of the CuzO NPs are tunable. With the shell thicknesses increase, the absorption peaks have red shifts. An inside-outside growth model of Cu2O NPs was proposed to explain the results. The Cu2O single crystalline grains grow not only in the reactant solution, but also inside of the hollow nanospheres. The new Cu2O nanocrystallines can not only aggregate onto the shells of the nano hollow spheres, but also inside and outside of the hollow spheres, which leads to increasing the shell thicknesses of the hollow spheres, forming core-shell structures or small solid spheres of Cu2O NPs, respectively.展开更多

While pristine graphene is desirable for applications that require a high electrical conductivity, many other applications require modified or functionalized forms of graphene, such as graphene oxide, reduced graphene, or other functionalized forms. Structurally modifying graphene through chemical functionalization reveals the numerous possibilities for tuning its structure; several chemical and physical functionalization methods have been explored to improve the stabilization and modification of graphene. In this review, we report recent progress towards the chemical modification of graphene, including both covalent and noncovalent methods, for use in various applications.展开更多
