First-principles calculations were carried out to investigate the structural stabilities and electronic properties of RhZr.The plane wave based pseudopotential method was used,in which both the local density approximation(LDA) and the generalized gradient approximation(GGA) implanted in the CASTEP code were employed.The internal positions of atoms in the unit cell were optimized and the ground state properties such as lattice parameter,density of state,cohesive energies and enthalpies of formation of ortho-RhZr and cubic-RhZr were calculated.The calculation results indicate that ortho-RhZr can form more easily than cubic-RhZr and the ortho-RhZr is more stable than cubic-RhZr.The density of states(DOS) reveals that the strong bonding in the Rh-Zr and Rh-Rh or Zr-Zr interaction chains accounts for the structural stability of ortho-RhZr and the hybridization between Rh-4d states and Zr-4d states is strong. 展开更多

The structural stability, elastic and electronic properties under pressure at 0 K for β-Ti have been investigated by per-forming first-principles calculations. With the increase of pressure, the structure of β-Ti becomes stabler, which is further con-firmed by the calculation for density of state (DOS). The phase transition pressure of is about 64. 3 GPa, which is consist-ent with other theoretical predictions (63. 7 GPa) and the experimental result (50 GPa). The pressure dependence of elastic constants shows that the low-pressure limit for a mechanically stable β-Ti is about 50 GPa with low Young?s modulus value of about 30. 01 GPa, which approaches the value of a human bone (30 GPa). In addition, the pressure dependence of bulk modu-lus B, shear modulus G, Young’s modulus E,Poisson’s ratio σ,aggregate sound velocities,and ductility/brittleness under different pressures were also discussed. B, G and E ascend monotonously with increasing pressure, while a descends. β-Ti re-mains ductile by analysis of B/G under considered pressures. 展开更多

To evaluate the fatigue damage reliability of critical members of the Nanjing Yangtze river bridge, according to the stress-number curve and Miner’s rule, the corresponding expressions for calculating the structural fatigue damage reliability were derived. Fatigue damage reliability analysis of some critical members of the Nanjing Yangtze river bridge was carried out by using the strain-time histories measured by the structural health monitoring system of the bridge. The corresponding stress spectra were obtained by the real-time rain-flow counting method. Results of fatigue damage were calculated respectively by the reliability method at different reliability and compared with Miner’s rule. The results show that the fatigue damage of critical members of the Nanjing Yangtze river bridge is very small due to its low live-load stress level. 展开更多

Consensus tracking control problems for single-integrator dynamics of multi-agent systems with switching topology are investigated. In order to design effective consensus tracking protocols for a more general class of networks, which are aimed at ensuring that the concerned states of agents converge to a constant or time-varying reference state, new consensus tracking protocols with a constant and time-varying reference state are proposed, respectively. Particularly, by contrast with spanning tree, an improved condition of switching interaction topology is presented. And then, convergence analysis of two consensus tracking protocols is provided by Lyapunov stability theory. Moreover, consensus tracking protocol with a time-varying reference state is extended to achieve the fbrmation control. By introducing formation structure set, each agent can gain its individual desired trajectory. Finally, several simulations are worked out to illustrate the effectiveness of theoretical results. The test results show that the states of agents can converge to a desired constant or time-varying reference state. In addition, by selecting appropriate structure set, agents can maintain the expected formation under random switching interaction topologies. 展开更多

This paper deals with the design of an observer-based nonlinear control for continuous stirred tank reactors(CSTR).A variable structure observer is constructed to estimate the whole process state variables.This observer is basically the conventional Luenberger observer with an additional switching term used to guarantee the robustness against modeling errors.The observer is coupled with a nonlinear controller,designed based on input-output linearization for controlling the reactor temperature.The asymptotical stability of the closed-loop system is shown by the Lyapunov stability theorem.Finally,computer simulations are developed for showing the performance of the proposed approach. 展开更多

Cohesive energy of five types of vanadium phosphide compounds was calculated to assess their structural stability. The charge density distribution and densities of states of vanadium phosphides were discussed to study further their electronic structures. The results show that the structure of metal-rich compounds is considerably more stable than the phosphorus-rich compositions,and covalent bond exists between the V and P atoms of V3P,V2P,VP,VP2 and VP4. 展开更多

Structural stabilities, thermodynamics stabilities, elastic properties and electronic structures of Mgl7Al12, Al2Y and AlaBa phases were analyzed by first-principles calculations with Castep and Drool3 program based on the density functional theory. The calculated results of heat of formation indicate that AI2Y phase has the strongest alloying ability. The calculated thermodynamic properties show that the thermal stability of these compounds gradually increases in the order ofMgl7Al12, A12Y and Al4Ba phases. Y or Ba addition to the Mg-Al alloys could improve the heat resistance. The calculated bulk modulus B, shear modulus G, elastic modulus E and Poisson ratio v show that the adding Y or Ba to Mg-Al alloys could promote the brittleness and stiffness, and reduce tenacity and plasticity by forming Al4Ba and Al2Y phases. The calculated cohesive energy and density of state (DOS) show that Al2Y has the strongest structural stability, then AlaBa and finally Mg17Al12. The calculated electronic structures show that Al2Y has the strongest structure stability because of the strong ionic bonds and covalent bonds combined action. 展开更多

Audit Partner Rotation, Audit Quality, and Dynamic Industry Structure

Previous research on the relationship between audit partner tenure and audit quality assumed that auditors conducted auditing works in a stable external environment where the corporate and management behavior was highly predictable. This study uses the joint tenure between audit partners and management to explain audit quality, because corporate directors would consider an appropriate adjustment in the management to deal with a dramatic change in the external environment. First, we examined whether there is a significant association between audit partner tenure and audit quality after the implementation of mandatory audit partner rotation by using the auditor tenure only. We addressed this issue by using a sample of Taiwan Residents companies and found no significant association between audit partner tenure and the magnitude of discretionary accruals (DA), a common proxy for audit quality. Second, we tested the relationship between audit partner tenure and audit quality under the consideration of industry structure stability. The result exhibits a negative relation between audit partner tenure and audit quality under the control of industry structural stability which is measured by a proxy variable, the joint tenure between audit partner and management. Third, we investigated whether the association does exist between joint tenure of auditors and management and audit quality. We also addressed this issue by using Taiwan Residents data and found a significant association between the joint tenure of auditor and management and the magnitude of DA. Our findings provide evidence that the use of a mandatory rotation rule is an ineffective way to improve audit quality. 展开更多

A robust multi-objective and multi-physics optimization of multi-physics behavior of microstructure

A new strategy is presented to solve robust multi-physics multi-objective optimization problem known as improved multi-objective collaborative optimization (IMOCO) and its extension improved multi-objective robust collaborative (IMORCO). In this work, the proposed IMORCO approach combined the IMOCO method, the worst possible point (WPP) constraint cuts and the Genetic algorithm NSGA-II type as an optimizer in order to solve the robust optimization problem of multi-physics of microstructures with uncertainties. The optimization problem is hierarchically decomposed into two levels: a microstructure level, and a disciplines levels, For validation purposes, two examples were selected: a numerical example, and an engineering example of capacitive micro machined ultrasonic transducers (CMUT) type. The obtained results are compared with those obtained from robust non-distributed and distributed optimization approach, non-distributed multi-objective robust optimization (NDMORO) and multi-objective collaborative robust optimization (McRO), respectively. Results obtained from the application of the IMOCO approach to an optimization problem of a CMUT cell have reduced the CPU time by 44% ensuring a Pareto front close to the reference non-distributed multi-objective optimization (NDMO) approach (mahalanobis distance, D2M =0.9503 and overall spread, So=0.2309). In addition, the consideration of robustness in IMORCO approach applied to a CMUT cell of optimization problem under interval uncertainty has reduced the CPU time by 23% keeping a robust Pareto front overlaps with that obtained by the robust NDMORO approach (D2M =10.3869 and So=0.0537). 展开更多

The global attractivity of the model is studied using Lyapunov functions and LaSalle's invariance principle. By the uniform persistence theories, the permanence of the system and the existence of the positive equilibrium are obtained. Moreover, by the normal form theory and the center manifold presented by Hassard, a stability and Hopf bifurcation analysis of the system around positive equilibrium from a local perspective are performed. Ultrasound(US) imaging in combination with US contrast agents(UCAs) is a powerful tool in the modern biomedical field because of its high spatial resolution, easy access to patients and minimum invasiveness.The microbubble-based UCAs have been widely used in clinical diagnosis; however, they are only limited to the blood pool imaging and not applicable to the tissue-penetrated imaging due to their large particle size and structural instability. Inorganic nanoparticles(NPs), such as silica,gold and Fe x O y, featured with both satisfactory echogenic properties and structural stability have the potential to be used as a new generation of UCAs. In this review, we present the most recent progresses in the tailored construction of inorganic UCAs and their biomedical applications in the US imaging-involved fields. Firstly, the typical inorganic NPs with different structures including solid, hollow and multiple-layer forms will be comprehensively introduced in terms of their structure design,physicochemical property, US imaging mechanism and diverse applications; secondly, the recent progress in exploring the gas-generating inorganic NP system for US imaging purpose will be reviewed, and these intelligent UCAs are multifunctional for simultaneous US imaging and disease therapy; thirdly, several nanocomposite platforms newly constructed by combining inorganic UCAs with other functional components will be presented anddiscussed. These multifunctional NPs are capable of further enhancing the imaging resolution by providing more comprehensive anatomical information simultaneously.Last but not the least, the design criteria for developing promising UCAs to satisfy both clinical demands and optimized US imaging capability will be discussed and summarized in this review. 展开更多

A novel layered hexagonal boron nitride/titanium dioxide(h-BN/TiO2) composite photocatalyst has been constructed by anchoring TiO2 nanoflakes on the surface of hBN flakes via a solvothermal method. The morphology and dispersion of TiO2 can be tuned by controlling the amount of flake h-BN. Benefiting from the unique hetero-structure, the photocatalytic performance of the obtained composite toward rhodamine B(Rh B) degradation is greatly enhanced, among which 12 wt% h-BN/TiO2 composites show 3.5 and 6.9 times higher degradation rate than the synthesized TiO2 and commercial TiO2(P25), respectively, and an excellent cycling stability has also been obtained. Moreover, the first-principles calculation reveals the synergetic catalytic effect between TiO2 and h-BN flake, which is found to be responsible for the significantly enhanced photocatalytic performance of h-BN/TiO2 composites. 展开更多
