The results showed that the taperingness of central trunk of free spindle dwarf-shoot Fuji apple treeshad negative correlations with each factor of inserted small branch, while the taperingness of central trunk of free spin- dle long-shoot Fuji apple treeshad positive correlations with each factor of inserted small branch, the taperingness of central trunk of slenderspindle short-shootFuji ap- ple treeshad negative correlation with total thickness of inserted small branch, but had positive correlations with other factors. This study can provide a scientifictheo- retical basis for the pruning technology of high-density planting trees grafting by dwarfing self-rooted rootstock.展开更多

Methods: A questionnaire survey was conducted in the test group (n = 98) by filling out a symptom checklist 90 (SCL-90). And then the survey result was compared with the normal group (n = 1388) contained in relevant references. Results: Except for hostile factor that was similar to normal level (P 〉 0.05), other 8 factors were higher than in normal group (P 〈 0.01). And the cancer patients were classified with the survey results. Conclusion: Compared with normal persons, cancer patients have more psychological problems and related intervention measures are sought necessarily to improve the quality of life, to advance the immune function and to prolong the survival time of patients.展开更多

Factors that influence shaft stability were obtained. The numerical simulation program FLAC3D was used to simulate the destruction of the deep shaft insert. Two different support methods were analyzed by simulation. The simulations demonstrate that a single stiffness support is inappropriate for this shaft insert. The appropriate support method is an integrated coupling method of rigid and flexible supports. The flexible support is applied first and then the rigid support is second. Engineering practice in the Xing'an Coal Mine shows that this technology can effectively control deep-shaft insert deterioration. This support approach provides an important direction for future project design and construction, as well.展开更多

Clinical and laboratory parameters were analyzed retrospectively.RESULTS: Among 128 patients, 62 had no recurrent gastrointestinal bleeding and 66 had recurrent gastrointestinal bleeding within 30 d. As determined by the use of multivariate analysis, an underlying malignancy, liver cirrhosis and hematemesis were significant factors related to recurrent gastrointestinal bleeding.CONCLUSION: Clinical factors including underlying malignancy, liver cirrhosis, and hematemesis are important predictors for rebleeding after angiographically negative findings in patients with acute non-variceal gastrointestinal bleeding.展开更多

More than one-third of patients with rectal cancer who underwent LAR will have functional stomas during primary operation. The aim of this retrospective study was to evaluate the risk factors associated with clinical AL following LAR without diversional stomas. Methods Between 2012 and 2017, information about 578 consecutive patients with rectal tumors less than 12 cm from the anal verge who underwent LAR without diversional stomas by the same surgical team was collected retrospectively. A standardized extraperitonealized anastomosis and pelvic drainage were conducted for all patients during primary operations, and the outcome of interest was clinical AL. The associations between AL and 14 patient-related and surgical variables were examined by both univariate chi-square test and multivariate logistic regression analysis. Results The AL rate was 7.27%(42 of 578). Univariate and multivariate analyses showed that male sex(P = 0.018), mid-low rectal cancer(located 10 cm or less above the anal verge)(P = 0.041), presence of diabetes(odds ratio = 2.117), longer duration of operation(odds ratio = 1.890), and intraoperative contamination(odds ratio = 2.163) were risk factors of AL for LAR without diversional stoma and independently predictive of clinical AL. Nearly 83.3%(35 of 42) of leakage could be cured by persistent pelvic irrigation-suction-drainage without surgical intervention. Only 7 patients(16.7%) with severe complications, such as peritonitis, and fistula, required reoperation, and functional stoma was used as a salvage treatment. Conclusion From the findings of this retrospective survey, we identified that mid-low rectal cancer and male sex were independent risk factors for developing clinical AL after LAR without diversional stomas, as well as longer duration of operation, presence of diabetes, and contamination of the operative field. Moreover, we deemed that LAR without diversional stomas for mid-low rectal cancers was safe, effective, and feasible. Extraperitonealized anastomosis and pelvic drainage obtained a relatively low rate of AL and avoided unnecessary functional stomas. Pelvic irrigation-suction-drainage was an effective procedure to resolve AL, and functional stoma was potentially used as a salvage modality for serious leakage.展开更多

Several studies have investigated how to use learning games to improve inquiry abilities. However, not every learner favors this kind of approach. Thus, we need to examine how human factors affect learners' reactions to the use of a digital game to support inquiry-based learning. This study addressed this issue by developing a digital game, "Baking Town", and using the game to examine the effects of two central human factors, sex differences and problem-solving strategies, on students' performance. The results demonstrate that students' inquiry abilities were significantly improved after they participated in the digital game. The results also demonstrate that the digital game may be a feasible way to reduce differences between boys and girls in this domain. Finally, we used the findings to develop a framework that can be used to enhance our understanding of sex differences and the use of problem-solving strategies in the context of digital games.展开更多

On this basis, the effectiveness and rationalization of the fuzzy theory's application in the English literature teaching were confirmed from many aspects. Among them, it is mainly investigated and analyzed from the objective factors and subjective factors. Subjective aspects mainly contain students' different cognitive ability, and the diversity existed in teachers' teaching and guiding methods. Objective aspects mainly include that the literature language and literature thoughts itself have the unique ambiguity. Finally, in summing up the investigation results the author put forward the essence of English literature teaching activity and put forward the methods to improve English literature teaching.展开更多

Vanmarcke's peak factor is directly related to an explicit measure of structural reliability against a Gaussian response process. We review the use of this factor for time-variant reliability design by comparing it to the conven- tional Davenport's peak factor. Based on the asymptotic theory of statistical extremes, a new closed-form peak factor, the so-called Gamma peak factor, can be obtained for a non-Gaussian resultant response characterized by a Rayleigh distribution process. Using the Gamma peak factor, a combined peak factor method was developed for predicting the expected maximum resultant responses of a building undergoing lateral-torsional vibration. The effects of the standard deviation ratio of two sway components and the inter-component correlation on the evaluation of peak resultant response were also investigated. Utilizing wind tunnel data derived from synchronous multi-pressure measurements, we carried out a wind-induced time history response analysis of the Common- wealth Advisory Aeronautical Research Council (CAARC) standard tall building to validate the applicability of the Gamma peak factor to the prediction of the peak resultant acceleration. Results from the building example indicated that the use of the Gamma peak factor enables accurate predictions to be made of the mean extreme resultant acceleration responses for dynamic service- ability performance design of modem tall buildings.展开更多
