In considering the characteristic of a rudder,the maneuvers of a ship were described by an unmatched uncertain nonlinear mathematic model with unknown virtual control coefficient and parameter uncertainties.In order t...In considering the characteristic of a rudder,the maneuvers of a ship were described by an unmatched uncertain nonlinear mathematic model with unknown virtual control coefficient and parameter uncertainties.In order to solve the uncertainties in the ship heading control,specifically the controller singular and paramount re-estimation problem,a new multiple sliding-mode adaptive fuzzy control algorithm was proposed by combining Nussbaum gain technology,the approximation property of fuzzy logic systems,and a multiple sliding-mode control algorithm.Based on the Lyapunov function,it was proven in theory that the controller made all signals in the nonlinear system of unmatched uncertain ship motion uniformly bounded,with tracking errors converging to zero.Simulation results show that the demonstrated controller design can track a desired course fast and accurately.It also exhibits strong robustness peculiarity in relation to system uncertainties and disturbances.展开更多

In this paper, based on the analysis of content distribution, status of content store, and pending interest, we propose a novel caching algorithm with which the resources of content store and pending interest table can be efficiently used. Based on the height of back-filled materials, thickness of ore body, height of boundary pillar and dipping angle of ore body and water pressure, the safety factors of all the pillars are calculated with the limit equi...Based on the height of back-filled materials, thickness of ore body, height of boundary pillar and dipping angle of ore body and water pressure, the safety factors of all the pillars are calculated with the limit equilibrium method. The calculation results present that the safety factors of pillars in Sections 19, 20, 24, 28 are less than 1.3, and those of unstable sections are identified preliminarily. Further, a numerical investigation in Sections 18, 20, 22, 24, 25 and 28 implemented with numerical code RFPA20 is employed to further validate the pillar performance and the stability of stopes. The numerical results show the pillars in Sections 18, 22 and 24 are stable and the designed pillar size is suitable. The width of the ore body near Section 28 averages 20 m, failure occurs in the left stope, but the boundary pillars near Section 28 maintain good performance. The pillars in Sections 20 and 25 are unstable which are mainly affected by the Faults F8 and F18. The existence of faults alters the stress distribution, failure mode and water inrush pathway. This work provides a meaningful standard for boundary pillar and stope design in a mine as it transitions from an open pit to underground.展开更多

However, the specifications do not make any mention of how to choose wave force calculation methods of deep-water breakwaters. To study the feasibility of different formulae for wave force estimation of deep water combined breakwaters, the wave force calculated by the Sainflou's, Goda's, modified Goda's and specifications' methods are compared for various water depths and wave heights in this paper. The calculated results are also compared with experimental data. The total horizontal forcing and the pattern of pressure distributions are presented. Comparisons show that the wave pressure distributions by the four methods are similar, but the total horizontal forces are different. The results obtained by the Goda's method and the specified formulae are much closer to the experimental data. As for the wave force estimation for the deepwater mixed embankment foundation bed parapet, the Goda's formula is applied in the case with a water depth of less than 42 m. The Specifications method is suitable for standing waves. In the wave force estimates of breastworks, Sainflou's and the modified Gaoda's formulae are no longer applicable for the foundation bed of mixed embankment.展开更多
A critical safe distance(CSD)model in V2V(vehicle-to-vehicle)communication systems was proposed to primarily enhance driving safety by disseminating warning notifications to vehicles when they approach calculated CSD....A critical safe distance(CSD)model in V2V(vehicle-to-vehicle)communication systems was proposed to primarily enhance driving safety by disseminating warning notifications to vehicles when they approach calculated CSD.By elaborately analyzing the vehicular movement features especially when braking,our CSD definition was introduced and its configuration method was given through dividing radio range into different communication zones.Based on our definition,the needed message propagation delay was also derived which could be used to control the beacon frequency or duration.Next,the detailed CSD expressions were proposed in different mobility scenarios by fully considering the relative movement status between the front and rear vehicles.Numerical results show that our proposed model could provide reasonable CSD under different movement scenarios which eliminates the unnecessary reserved inter-vehicle distance and guarantee the safety at the same time.The compared time-headway model always shows a smaller CSD due to focusing on traffic efficiency whereas the traditional braking model generally outputs a larger CSD because it assumes that the following car drives with a constant speed and did not discuss the scenario when the leading car suddenly stops.Different from these two models,our proposed model could well balances the requirements between driving safety and traffic throughput efficiency by generating a CSD in between the values of the two models in most cases.展开更多

A new public transportation system design problem that simultaneously considers both bus network design and public bicycle network design is proposed. The chemical reaction optimization(CRO) is designed to solve the problem. A shortcoming of CRO is that, when the two-molecule collisions take place, the molecules are randomly picked from the container.Hence, we improve CRO by employing different mating strategies. The computational results confirm the benefits of the mating strategies. Numerical experiments are conducted on the Sioux-Falls network. A comparison with the traditional sequential modeling framework indicates that the proposed approach has a better performance and is more robust. The practical applicability of the approach is proved by employing a real size network.展开更多
For different kinds of rocks,the collapse range of tunnel was studied in the previously published literature.However,some tunnels were buried in soils,and test data showed that the strength envelopes of the soils foll...For different kinds of rocks,the collapse range of tunnel was studied in the previously published literature.However,some tunnels were buried in soils,and test data showed that the strength envelopes of the soils followed power-law failure criterion.In this work,deep buried highway tunnel with large section was taken as objective,and the basic expressions of collapse shape and region were deduced for the highway tunnels in soils,based on kinematical approach and power-law failure criterion.In order to see the effectiveness of the proposed expressions,the solutions presented in this work agree well with previous results if the nonlinear failure criterion is reduced to a linear Mohr-Coulomb failure criterion.The present results are compared with practical projects and tunnel design code.The numerical results show that the height and width of tunnel collapse are greatly affected by the nonlinear criterion for the tunnel in soil.展开更多

Based on the confirmed simulation model, the simulation results of pressure and flow of the hydraulic system were analyzed. The dynamic simulation method is very helpful for designing and analyzing the performance of hydraulic system and further optimization design. Poor links result in retransmissions and more energy consumption. So link quality is an important issue in the design of routing protocol which is not considered in most traditional clustered routing protocols. A based on energy and link quality's routing protocol( EQRP) is proposed to optimize the clustering mechanism which takes into account energy balance and link quality factors. EQRP takes the advantage of high quality links to increase success rate of single communication and reduce the cost of communication. Simulation shows that,compared with traditional clustered protocol,EQRP can perform 40% better,in terms of life cycle of the whole network.展开更多

High dimensional data were considered as the a typical structure. Additionally, overlapped and non-overlapped data were introduced, and similarity measure analysis was also illustrated and compared with conventional similarity measure. As a result, overlapped data comparison was possible to present similarity with conventional similarity measure. Non-overlapped data similarity analysis provided the clue to solve the similarity of high dimensional data. Considering high dimensional data analysis was designed with consideration of neighborhoods information. Conservative and strict solutions were proposed. Proposed similarity measure was applied to express financial fraud among multi dimensional datasets. In illustrative example, financial fraud similarity with respect to age, gender, qualification and job was presented. And with the proposed similarity measure, high dimensional personal data were calculated to evaluate how similar to the financial fraud. Calculation results show that the actual fraud has rather high similarity measure compared to the average, from minimal 0.0609 to maximal 0.1667.展开更多

The purpose of the present experiment was to obtain the natural circulation data in HX to research the heat transfer behavior. The PRHR HX was simulated by three C-type tubes with prototype sizes immerged in a cooling tank. Separate-effect tests of natural circulation in HX tubes have been performed within wide conditions which could cover the operation conditions in AP1000. The experiment provided lots of important data to indicate heat transfer phenomena of PRHR HX. The test conditions were calculated by RELAP5/MOD3.3. The calculation results agreed well with the experiment. RELAP5 could be applied with proper correlations to analyze the heat transfer in PRHR HX under the test conditions.展开更多
The KDOT (Kansas Department of Transportation) is currently adopting MEPDG (mechanistic-empirical pavement design guide) to replace the 1993 AASHTO (American Association of State Highway and Transportation Offici...The KDOT (Kansas Department of Transportation) is currently adopting MEPDG (mechanistic-empirical pavement design guide) to replace the 1993 AASHTO (American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials) design method. The main objective of this study was to compare flexible pavement design using 1993 AASHTO design guide and MEPDG. Five newly built Superior PERforming Asphalt PAVEments (Superpave), designed using the 1993 AASHTO Design Guide, were selected as test sections for the design simulation study. Deflection data were collected approximately 8 to 10 weeks after construction using FWD (falling weight deflectometer). The FWD deflection data were used to back-calculate the pavement layer moduli using three different back-calculation programs. The existing pavement structures were analyzed for a 10-year analysis period. The maximum numbers of years the existing pavement structures will be in a serviceable condition as well as the minimum thicknesses of different layers to serve for 10-years were also determined. Effects of changing subgrade modulus, target distress, and reliability were also investigated. The MEPDG design analysis shows that the 1993 AASHTO Guide-designed flexible pavements do not show the distresses currently observed in Kansas for the 10-year design period. The MEPDG design simulation shows that the thinner the pavement sections, the higher the permanent deformation. The existing pavement structures can serve for more than 20 years as per the MEPDG design analysis if the default failure criteria and nationally-calibrated models are used.展开更多

Parametric studies on the proposed antenna structure were carried out by using CST MWS. Simulation results show that the proper choice of spiral turns and cavity depth can miniaturize the dimensions of the cavity-backed spiral antenna presented here. According to simulation results, prototype antennas operating in the 6 12 GHz band are fabricated and the dimension of the proposed cavity-backed spiral antenna is 22 mm (diameter)×15 mm (height). The performance of the proposed antenna was measured and compared with the simulation results. It is shown that the experimental results are consistent with the theoretical predictions and the suggested antenna is good enough to adapt for various wideband applications.展开更多

It is necessary, in fact, to design a controller that is able to set the output value of the voltage and ensure the working within the maximum power point. In this paper, we propose the application of the robust sliding mode control technique to a DC-DC buck converter which is combined with a classical P & O (perturbation and observation) algorithm to enhance the solar system efficiency. Dynamic equations describing the boost converter are derived and a sliding mode controller for a buck converter is designed. It is shown that, this control approach gives good results in terms of robustness toward load and input voltage variations. The effectiveness of the proposed work is verified by the simulation results under PowerSim environment.展开更多

Proposed similarity measure was applied to express financial fraud among multi dimensional datasets. In illustrative example, financial fraud similarity with respect to age, gender, qualification and job was presented. And with the proposed similarity measure, high dimensional personal data were calculated to evaluate how similar to the financial fraud. Calculation results show that the actual fraud has rather high similarity measure compared to the average, from minimal 0.0609 to maximal 0.1667.
文摘The heat transfer characteristics of the PRHR (passive residual heat removal) HX (heat exchanger) are very important to reactor design and safety assessment of AP1000. The purpose of the present experiment was to obtain the natural circulation data in HX to research the heat transfer behavior. The PRHR HX was simulated by three C-type tubes with prototype sizes immerged in a cooling tank. Separate-effect tests of natural circulation in HX tubes have been performed within wide conditions which could cover the operation conditions in AP1000. The experiment provided lots of important data to indicate heat transfer phenomena of PRHR HX. The test conditions were calculated by RELAP5/MOD3.3. The calculation results agreed well with the experiment. RELAP5 could be applied with proper correlations to analyze the heat transfer in PRHR HX under the test conditions.
文摘The KDOT (Kansas Department of Transportation) is currently adopting MEPDG (mechanistic-empirical pavement design guide) to replace the 1993 AASHTO (American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials) design method. The main objective of this study was to compare flexible pavement design using 1993 AASHTO design guide and MEPDG. Five newly built Superior PERforming Asphalt PAVEments (Superpave), designed using the 1993 AASHTO Design Guide, were selected as test sections for the design simulation study. Deflection data were collected approximately 8 to 10 weeks after construction using FWD (falling weight deflectometer). The FWD deflection data were used to back-calculate the pavement layer moduli using three different back-calculation programs. The existing pavement structures were analyzed for a 10-year analysis period. The maximum numbers of years the existing pavement structures will be in a serviceable condition as well as the minimum thicknesses of different layers to serve for 10-years were also determined. Effects of changing subgrade modulus, target distress, and reliability were also investigated. The MEPDG design analysis shows that the 1993 AASHTO Guide-designed flexible pavements do not show the distresses currently observed in Kansas for the 10-year design period. The MEPDG design simulation shows that the thinner the pavement sections, the higher the permanent deformation. The existing pavement structures can serve for more than 20 years as per the MEPDG design analysis if the default failure criteria and nationally-calibrated models are used.
文摘The numerical simulation on drawing process of automotive B-pillar was carried out on AutoForm software,and dangerous forming areas were discovered.The processing parameters,such as the layout of drawbeads,blank holding force and the shape of blank,were adjusted and optimized according to the simulation results.Results indicate that the quality defects can be forecast and removed,which improves the stability of forming process.The cost of design is decreased and the research cycle is shortened.It is proved that the drawing process and die design of B-pillar forming are feasible in actual production.
文摘The design and optimization of a self-complementary two-arm Archimedean spiral antenna backed by an absorptive cavity were presented. Parametric studies on the proposed antenna structure were carried out by using CST MWS. Simulation results show that the proper choice of spiral turns and cavity depth can miniaturize the dimensions of the cavity-backed spiral antenna presented here. According to simulation results, prototype antennas operating in the 6 12 GHz band are fabricated and the dimension of the proposed cavity-backed spiral antenna is 22 mm (diameter)×15 mm (height). The performance of the proposed antenna was measured and compared with the simulation results. It is shown that the experimental results are consistent with the theoretical predictions and the suggested antenna is good enough to adapt for various wideband applications.
文摘The MPPT (maximum power point tracking) is one of the most important features of a regulator system that processes the energy produced by a photovoltaic generator. It is necessary, in fact, to design a controller that is able to set the output value of the voltage and ensure the working within the maximum power point. In this paper, we propose the application of the robust sliding mode control technique to a DC-DC buck converter which is combined with a classical P & O (perturbation and observation) algorithm to enhance the solar system efficiency. Dynamic equations describing the boost converter are derived and a sliding mode controller for a buck converter is designed. It is shown that, this control approach gives good results in terms of robustness toward load and input voltage variations. The effectiveness of the proposed work is verified by the simulation results under PowerSim environment.
