The oldest patient with takotsubo cardiomyopathy

Takotsubo cardiomyopathy （TTC） is a rare condition that affects mainly aging women. According to a retrospective review, patients with TTC accounted for approximately 2% of all the patients with suspected acute coronary syndrome （ACS）. A few reports indicated that the average age of TTC patients was 68 years, although children or young adults may also be affected. In US and Europe, a number of contemporary TTC studies report that 90% of patients with TTC are women aged 65-70 years. Meta analysis showed that the age ranged from 10 to 89 years.

Fuzzy Synthetic Evaluation of Wetland Soil Quality Degradation:A Case Study on the Sanjiang Plain,Northeast China

Wetland soil quality degradation caused by large-scale agricultural reclamation on the Sanjiang Plain of Northeast China has been widely reported. A relative soil quality evaluation (RSQE) model and a projection pursuit evaluation (PPE) model based on real-coded accelerating genetic algorithm were introduced to evaluate quality variations in top layers of the main wetland soils on the Sanjiang Plain in 1999 and 2003, respectively. As soil quality degradation boundaries were vague, this study established two fuzzy synthetic evaluation (FSE) models based on the original data and criteria used in the RSQE and PPE models. The outputs of the two FSE models were obtained by choosing two fuzzy composite operators M(∧, ∨) and M(·, ⊕). Statistical analysis showed that the results of the FSE, RSQE, and PPE models were correlated. In particular, outputs of the FSE model using M(·, ⊕) were significantly correlated with those of the RSQE model with r = 0.989 at P < 0.01. Compared with RSQE and PPE models, the FSE model may be more objective in showing soil quality variations and was closer to the natural situation, showing the feasibility and applicability of the FSE model in evaluating soil quality degradation. However, the choice of composite operator was of critical importance. The study of wetland soil quality degradation on the Sanjiang Plain was of scientific and practical significance for protection and management of soils and for sustainable development of agriculture in this area in the future.

Comparisons on RIEMS2.0's Ability to Simulate Multi-Year Mean Climate in Northern China with Two Model Domains

Regional Integrated Environment Modeling System Version 2.0 (RIEMS2.0) is now being developed by the Key Laboratory of Regional Climate-Environment for Temperate East Asia, Chinese Academy of Sciences. In order to test the sensitivity of the RIEMS2.0 model domain to simulate long-term climate and its change, and provide a basis for the further development and application of the model, the authors compared results between simulated and observed precipitation and surface-airtemperature using two model domains under different cumulus parameterization schemes. The model was driven by NCEP/NCAR re-analysis data with a simulation duration ranging from 1 January 1979 to 31 December 2007. There were no significant differences found in the spatial distributions of the simulated precipitation and surface-air-temperature, or interannual variations between the two model domains. There were, however, differences observed between the two model domain simulations of local sub-regions. The smaller model domain more accurately simulated precipitation, especially in summer (June, July, and August), and decreased the bias of surface-airtemperature, especially in winter (December, January, and February). The weak summer and winter monsoons simulated by the smaller model domain was a result of boundary forcings and may partially account for the improvements of this model.

Objective To investigate trichorhinophalangeal syndrome 1 gene （TRPS-1） expression patterns in different subtypes of breast cancer and its correlations with other genes and survival using microarray data sets. Methods The transcripts of TRPS-1 and its role in survival in breast cancer were analyzed using published microarray data sets-Netherlands Cancer Institute （NKI） cohort and Wang cohort.

BeiDou Integrated Disaster Reduction Application Platform

To better improve the emergency communication and location-based services of disaster information reporting network for serious natural response and relieL disaster emergency the national natural disaster reduction application platform based on BeiDou navigation satellite system is constructed. The administrative distributed platform is integrated with BeiDou positioning and multiple communication ways so as to achieve main disaster reduction application services, including disaster information acquisition and monitoring, emergency relief for trapped people, on-site emergency relief command service, relief supplies＇ transportation monitoring, and disaster information publishing service. By the platform, serious disaster information reporting time may be reduced to one hour and the emergency decision-making information service for serious natural disasters can be effectively improved, and it will be helpful to provide technical references for the industrial application and promotion of BeiDou inte- grated disaster reduction.

Relationship of level of sex hormone and sex hormone receptor with development of metabolic syndrome in elderly men

Objective The sex hormone and the corresponding receptor may play some roles in the development of the metabolic syndrome （MS） in the elderly men. This study was designed to examine the relationship of level of the sex hormone and androgen receptor with MS in elderly men, thus to investigate the possible pathogenesis of MS. Methods This cross sectional study enrolled 587 elderly men, including 400 healthy controlls aged 62-92 years and 187 MS patients aged 60-87 years in Wan Shou Lu area of Beijing city. Dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate （DHAE-S）, total testosterone （TT）, sex hormone binding globulin （SHBG）, free testosterone （FT）, follicle-stimulating hormone （FSH）,Estradiol （E2）,luteinizing hormone（LH） and androgen receptor （AR） in blood were tested. Statistical analyses included the comparison analysis of variables and independent variables, correlation analysis using multi-factor linear regression, and multiple logistic regression analysis. Results DHAE-S, TT, SHBG, FT and AR fluorescence intensity in healthy control group were higher than those in MS group, however, FSH and E2 levels were lower in healthy group. Age was negatively correlated with diastolic blood pressure （DBP） and FT, but positively correlated with systolic blood pressure （SBP） and E2. AR fluorescence intensity was negatively correlated with SBP and LH. The logistic regression equation showed the negative correlation between DHEA-S, SHBG and the development of MS. Conclusions There are low levels of DHEA-S, TT, SHBG, FT and AR in the elderly patients with MS. On the contrary, FSH and E2 concentration are higher. It can be suggested that low levels of DHEA-S and SHBG may be the potential risk factors of MS in elderly men.

Hepatic expression and cellular distribution of the glucose transporter family

Glucose and other carbohydrates are transported into cells using members of a family of integral membrane glucose transporter (GLUT) molecules. To date 14 members of this family, also called the solute carrier 2A proteins have been identified which are divided on the basis of transport characteristics and sequence similarities into several families (Classes 1 to 3). The expression of these different receptor subtypes varies between different species, tissues and cellular subtypes and each has differential sensitivities to stimuli such as insulin. The liver is a contributor to metabolic carbohydrate homeostasis and is a major site for synthesis, storage and redistribution of carbohydrates. Situations in which the balance of glucose homeostasis is upset such as diabetes or the metabolic syndrome can lead metabolic disturbances that drive chronic organ damage and failure, confirming the importance of understanding the molecular regulation of hepatic glucose homeostasis. There is a considerable literature describing the expression and function of receptors that regulate glucose uptake and release by hepatocytes, the most import cells in glucose regulation and glycogen storage. However there is less appreciation of the roles of GLUTs expressed by non parenchymal cell types within the liver, all of which require carbohydrate to function. A better understanding of the detailed cellular distribution of GLUTs in human liver tissue may shed light on mechanisms underlying disease pathogenesis. This review summarises the available literature on hepatocellular expression of GLUTs in health and disease and highlights areas where further investigation is required.

Study on the extra X chromosome＇s effect on the hormone level of Klinefelter＇s syndrome

Klinefelter＇s syndrome is an inherited （genetic） disorder found only in men caused by at least one extra X chromosome in a cell. Does the extra X chromosome have any effect on the hormone level of Klinefelter＇s Syndrome？ In this paper, 25 subjects with Klinefelter＇s syndrome, 30 infertile subjects and 36 normal men without Klinefelter＇s syndrome were compared each other in endocrinology profile and cytogenetics. Subjects with Klinefelter＇s syndrome were identified by the karyotypes 47, XXY or 47, XXY/46XY, and positive of the X-chromatins （Barr bodies）. Hormone analysis of subjects with Klinefelter＇s syndrome showed that the testosterone （T） values were lower than those of the normal subjects, while the FSH and LH values were higher than those of the normal people; in the infertile experiment subjects without Klinefelter＇s Syndrome, the karyotypes are 46, XY, with negative of the X-chromatins. The testosterone （T） values of these subjects were also lower than those of the normal people, but the FSH and LH values were within the normal range. These results indicated that endocrinological test on infertile subjects can be used to determine whether a cytogenetic analysis is necessary, and hence exclude non- Klinefelter＇s syndrome. The mechanism of the occurrence of this difference, its clinical applications and the relationship among the karyotypes, the endocrinological test and the severity of the phenotype are discussed. Lyon＇s hypothesis stating that only one of the two X-chromosomes is genetically active in female cells, but our study concluded that the extra X chromosome do have effect on the hormone level of Klinefelter＇s Syndrome.

The Teachings of Christianity About Peace： Some Basic Principles

Authentic peace is much more comprehensive and far-reaching than the absence of war. The Jewish concept of shalom and its concrete experience entail harmony with nature, with oneself, with others and with God. This article delves into the Hebrew scriptural foundations of Christianity＇s teachings about peace, and then proceeds to give an overview of some of the key references to the same theme in the New Testament. A number of key affirmations about peace and its various aspects were made during the Second Vatican Council （1962-1965）. These were followed by several official statements made by the Popes in their annual World Day of Peace Messages since 1968 The Christian concept of peace offers a number of practical applications which can be embraced by all men and women of good will, namely the creation of a purified mentality, as well as a sincere pedagogy of dialogue.

Second-trimester maternal β-human chorionic gonadotropin level associated with subsequent development of pregnancy-induced hypertension

Objective:To determine whether maternal β-human chorionic gonadotropin(β-hCG) level in second-trimester may be associated with subsequent development of pregnancy-induced hypertension(PIH).Methods:Seven hundred and sixty-two women in mid-trimester were to have maternal urine β-hCG standardized concentrations and maternal serum β-hCG measurements.Their case histories were recorded and reviewed from mid-trimester to delivery.The relation was observed between maternal urine,serum markers and subsequent development of PIH.Results:Among 762 women,504 cases were normal pregnancies,42 cases had PIH,94 cases had premature rupture of membrane (PROM),69 cases had preterm delivery (PD),53 other cases were excluded by various reasons.The levels of maternal urine,serum β-hCG in PIH were (61.75±9.78) IU/L and (304.56±54.17) ng/mg respectively,which were higher significantly than normal pregnancy group ([20.65±7.61] IU/L and [146.34±47.81] ng/mg,P<0.05).When maternal serum,urine β-hCG levels ≥2 MOM(multiple of mean),the incidences of developing PIH were increased significantly as compared with those of β-hCG <2 MOM women.The incidence of PIH increased from 5.1% in pregnancies with urine β-hCG ≥2 MOM to 11.7% in cases with urine β-hCG ≥4 MOM.Conclusion:The elevation of maternal mid-trimester urine,serum β-hCG levels is not only an early signal for dysfunction of placenta but also a dangerous signal for development of PIH.Second-trimester maternal urine β-hCG measurement proves to be superior to serum marker in clinical prediction.

Teaching Chinese to Ethnic Minority Students in Hong Kong:A Systematic Review

This paper presents a systematic review of research on Chinese as a Second Language(CSL)education for ethnic minority students in Hong Kong SAR.Using three databases and screening with specific inclusion and exclusion criteria,the study selected 38 empirical studies published in English-language peer-reviewed journals.We find that there has been a surge of publications in Hong Kong in the past decade(2010–2020),and they are mostly authored by scholars from three universities in Hong Kong.Most of the research took a phenomenological approach,using interviews as the main data collection method and focusing on underprivileged South Asian students in secondary schools.The thematic analysis showed that Hong Kong’s CSL adopted a poststructuralist paradigm for understanding and revealing social inequalities surrounding Chinese language education for ethnic minority students.The study concludes that Hong Kong must decolonise its education system to genuinely support ethnic minority students to achieve educational equality and social justice.

Intelligent Data Pre-processing Model in Integrated Ocean Observing Network System

There are a number of dirty data in observation data set derived from integrated ocean observing network system. Thus, the data must be carefully and reasonably processed before they are used for forecasting or analysis. This paper proposes a data pre-processing model based on intelligent algorithms. Firstly, we introduce the integrated network platform of ocean observation. Next, the preprocessing model of data is presemed, and an imelligent cleaning model of data is proposed. Based on fuzzy clustering, the Kohonen clustering network is improved to fulfill the parallel calculation of fuzzy c-means clustering. The proposed dynamic algorithm can automatically f＇md the new clustering center with the updated sample data. The rapid and dynamic performance of the model makes it suitable for real time calculation, and the efficiency and accuracy of the model is proved by test results through observation data analysis.
