The increasing demand for sustainable and environmentally friendly materials has driven research towards the development of green composites.In this work,the flax/polylactic acid(PLA)braided yarns were fabricated by b...The increasing demand for sustainable and environmentally friendly materials has driven research towards the development of green composites.In this work,the flax/polylactic acid(PLA)braided yarns were fabricated by braiding PLA filaments with 4 to 24 spindles on flax yarns.After curing at different temperatures(180℃and 190℃),the core/sheath structural flax/PLA composite yarns were manufactured.According to the results of the tensile test,the flax/PLA composite yarn with 4-spindle PLA yarns as a sheath layer and at a curing temperature of 180℃reached the maximum elastic modulus of about(5.79±0.65)GPa and the maximum tensile strength of about(162.17±18.18)MPa.This flax/PLA composite yarn with good mechanical properties would be suitable for green composites in the automobile manufacturing industry and building materials.展开更多

The determination of effective color features depen...An approach for color image segmentation is proposed based on the contributions of color features to segmentation rather than the choice of a particular color space. The determination of effective color features depends on the analysis of various color features from each tested color image via the designed feature encoding. It is different from the pervious methods where self organized feature map (SOFM) is used for constructing the feature encoding so that the feature encoding can self organize the effective features for different color images. Fuzzy clustering is applied for the final segmentation when the well suited color features and the initial parameter are available. The proposed method has been applied in segmenting different types of color images and the experimental results show that it outperforms the classical clustering method. The study shows that the feature encoding approach offers great promise in automating and optimizing the segmentation of color images.展开更多

AIM:To clarify the association between a polymorphism-449 C>G(rs72696119) in 5'-UTR of NFKB1 with ulcerative colitis(UC).METHODS:The studied population comprised 639 subjects,including patients with UC(UC cases...AIM:To clarify the association between a polymorphism-449 C>G(rs72696119) in 5'-UTR of NFKB1 with ulcerative colitis(UC).METHODS:The studied population comprised 639 subjects,including patients with UC(UC cases,n = 174) and subjects without UC(controls,n = 465).We employed polymerase chain reaction-single strand conformation polymorphism to detect the gene polymorphism.RESULTS:The rs72696119 G allele frequencies in controls and UC cases were 33.4% and 38.5%,respectively(P = 0.10).Genotype frequency of the GG homozygote in UC cases was significantly higher than that in controls(P = 0.017),and the GG homozygote was significantly associated with susceptibility to UC [odds ratio(OR),1.88;95%CI,1.13-3.14].In male subjects,the GG homozygote was associated with an increased risk for UC(OR,3.10;95%CI,1.47-6.54;P = 0.0053),whereas this association was not found in female subjects.In addition,the GG homozygote was significantly associated with the risk of non-continuous disease(OR,2.06;95%CI,1.12-3.79;P = 0.029),not having total colitis(OR,2.40;95%CI,1.09-3.80,P = 0.040),disease which developed before 20 years of age(OR,2.80;95%CI,1.07-7.32,P = 0.041),no hospitalization(OR,2.28;95%CI,1.29-4.05;P = 0.0090) and with a maximum of 8 or less on the UCDAI score(OR,2.45;95%CI,1.23-4.93;P = 0.022).CONCLUSION:Our results provide evidence that NFKB1 polymorphism rs72696119 was significantly associated with the development of UC.This polymorphism influences the susceptibility to and pathophysiological features of UC.展开更多
The long-term creep behavior of polymer-matrix 3-D braided composites was studied by using the tensile creep test method, and the effect of braiding structure, braiding angle and fiber volume fraction were discussed. ...The long-term creep behavior of polymer-matrix 3-D braided composites was studied by using the tensile creep test method, and the effect of braiding structure, braiding angle and fiber volume fraction were discussed. The creep curve appears as expected, and can be defined two phases, namely, the primary phase and the secondary phase. For each sample, strain increases with time rapidly, and then the strain rate decreases and appears to approach a constant rate of change (steady-state creep). The experiment results show that the creep resistant properties are improved while the braiding angle decreases or the fiber volume fraction increases, and that the five-directional braiding structure offers better creep resistant properties than the four-directional braiding structure.展开更多

In our previous studies, we identified a lnc RNA, ENST00000439577, which is highly expressed in lung carcinomas, and termed it lung cancer progression-associated transcript 1(LCPAT1). To characterize the role of LCPAT1 in lung cancer, we conducted the current study.Methods: Expression of LCPAT1 and autophagy-associated markers in tumor tissues and lung cancer cell lines was determined by real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction(q PCR). Hematoxylin and eosin(HE) staining, q PCR, Western blot, and immunohistochemistry were performed to evaluate xenografted tumor tissues. Autophagy induced by rapamycin was detected by Western blot and immunofluorescence in lung cancer cell lines.Results: Expression of LCPAT1 and microtubule-associated protein 1 light chain 3 beta(LC3B) was positively correlated in lung cancer. Knockdown of LCPAT1 inhibited tumor growth and suppressed cell autophagy in vivo. Moreover, LCPAT1 knockdown in lung cancer cell lines resulted in decreased autophagy-associated gene expression and alleviated the cell autophagy induced by rapamycin.Conclusions: We speculate that LCPAT1 plays a crucial role in regulating autophagy in lung cancer.展开更多

Manufacturers have preferred to use woven fabrics or microp...Recent developments in endovascular surgery (EVAR) have opened new avenues to successfully treat aneurysms with percutaneous deployment of stent-grafts. Manufacturers have preferred to use woven fabrics or microporous tubes which are supported by metallic frames or stents. Woven fabrics are much thinner than knits and this permits the use of a smaller delivery catheter. However, since woven constructions are stiffer and have little porosity, the tissue ingrowth is poor or absent. On the other hand, knitted constructions can be considered as a scaffold for tissue ingrowth, and hence they represent an attractive alternative because of their open structure and better conformability in the case of balloon deployment. The present study was undertaken to analyze the properties of two knitted and crimped polyester arterial prototype prostheses, one with and the other without a gelatin coating as sealant. Two commercial controls were also included in the study, namely the uncoated knitted polyester vascular prosthesis VP1200K, and its sealed version, the gelatin coated polyester knitted Gelsoft device, manufactured by Vascutek Ltd., Scotland, UK. In vitro testing consisted of analyzing the and marphology of the yam and fabric structures, and measuring the physical and mechanical properties of the grafts, including the water prow.ability, the longitudinal and radial campliance, and the suture retention strength. In order to the different properties of the four samples, tests were performed on the gelatin coated of sealed devices before and after gelatin removal. The results provided a useful comparison between the prototypes and the commercial contorl devices. The latter used ten times the amount of gelatin which had been applied as a coating in order to achieve the same low level of impemeability to water. Anomalous trajectory detection and traffic flow classification for complicated airspace are of vital importance to safety and efficiency analysis.Some researchers employed density-based unsupervised machine learning m...Anomalous trajectory detection and traffic flow classification for complicated airspace are of vital importance to safety and efficiency analysis.Some researchers employed density-based unsupervised machine learning method to exploit these trajectories related to air traffic control(ATC)actions.However,the quality of position data and the tiny density difference between traffic flows in the terminal area make it particularly challenging.To alleviate these two challenges,this paper proposes a novel framework which combines robust deep auto-encoder(RDAE)model and density peak(DP)clustering algorithm.Specifically,the RDAE model is utilized to reconstruct denoising trajectory and identify anomaly trajectories in the terminal area by two different regularizations.Then,the nonlinear components captured by the encoder of RDAE are input in the DP algorithm to classify the global traffic flows.An experiment on a terminal airspace at Guangzhou Baiyun Airport(ZGGG)with anomaly label shows that the proposed combination can automatically capture non-conventional spatiotemporal traffic patterns in the aircraft movement.The superiority of RDAE and combination are also demonstrated by visualizing and quantitatively evaluating the experimental results.展开更多

Three SMPU knitted fabrics series with different content of SMPU fibers: 100% SMPU, 50% SMPU and 50% cotton, 16% SMPU and 84% cotton are designed and manufactured in our lab. Their shape memory behaviors at different temperatures are characterized in terms of bagging. Our experimental results showed that shape memory effect can be improved with increasing content of SMPU fibers. A comparison between Lycra and SMPU knitted fabrics was also made to validate the shape memory effects of SMPU knitted fabrics.展开更多

Methods HCMV UL138 ORF was amplified by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and PCR amplif...Objective To investigate the variability of human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) UL138 open reading frame (ORF) in clinical strains. Methods HCMV UL138 ORF was amplified by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and PCR amplification products were sequenced directly, and the data were analyzed in 19 clinical strains. Results LIL138 ORF in all 30 clinical strains was amplified successfully. Compared with that of Toledo strain, the nucleotide and amino acid sequence identifies of LIL138 ORF in all strains were 97.41% to 99.41% and 98.24% to 99.42%, respectively. All of the nucleofide mutations were substitutions. The spatial structure and post-translational modification sites of HL138 encoded proteins were conserved. The result of phylogenetic tree showed that HCMV HL138 sequence variations were not definitely related with different clinical symptoms. Conclusion HCMV UL138 ORF in clinical strains is high conservation, which might be helpful for UL138 encoded protein to play a role in latent infection of HCMV.展开更多

The applications during recent six years indicate that it is reasonable and fully admitted by colleagues abroad. Some creative papers with new concept are published. For instance, we first time pointed out a new phenomenon of "tritium well depth and tritium well time" during the fusion reactor start-up phase. This is somewhat similar to, but quite different from the "iodine well depth and iodine well time" poisoning problem during restart-up process of a fission reactor. The authors not only proposed but also numerically solved this new phenomenon. The combination of the SWITRIM code package, user's guide, and application example are briefly introduced in this article.展开更多

It is illegal to spread and transmit pornographic images over internet,either in real or in artificial format.The traditional methods are designed to identify real pornographic images and they are less efficient in de...It is illegal to spread and transmit pornographic images over internet,either in real or in artificial format.The traditional methods are designed to identify real pornographic images and they are less efficient in dealing with artificial images.Therefore,criminals turn to release artificial pornographic images in some specific scenes,e.g.,in social networks.To efficiently identify artificial pornographic images,a novel bag-of-visual-words based approach is proposed in the work.In the bag-of-words(Bo W)framework,speeded-up robust feature(SURF)is adopted for feature extraction at first,then a visual vocabulary is constructed through K-means clustering and images are represented by an improved Bo W encoding method,and finally the visual words are fed into a learning machine for training and classification.Different from the traditional BoW method,the proposed method sets a weight on each visual word according to the number of features that each cluster contains.Moreover,a non-binary encoding method and cross-matching strategy are utilized to improve the discriminative power of the visual words.Experimental results indicate that the proposed method outperforms the traditional method.展开更多

However, the function of DEAD-box proteins in aquaculture species is poorly understood at molecular level. We obtained the full-length cDNA sequences of two genes encoding helicase-related proteins, Fc-vasa and Fc-PL10a, from the testes of Chinese shrimp, Fenneropenaeus chinensis. The two predicted amino acid sequences contain all the conserved motifs characterized by the DEAD-box family and several RGG repeats in the N-terminal regions. Homology and phylogenetic analyses indicate that they belong to the vasa and PLIO subfamilies. The three-dimensional structures of the two proteins were predicted with a homology modeling approach. Both core proteins consist of two tandem RecA-like domains similar to those of the DEAD-box RNA helicase. Using reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and real-time PCR we found that Fc-vasa was expressed specifically in the adult gonads. Transcription decreased in the ovary but increased in the testis during gonadal development. Fc-PL10a expression was widely distributed in the tissues we examined. Using in situ hybridization, we demonstrated that the Fc-vasa transcript is localized to the cytoplasm of the spermatogonia and oocytes. Thus, our results suggest that Fc-wasa plays an important role in germ-line development, and has utility as a germ cell lineage marker which will help to generate new insight into the origin and differentiation of germ cells as well as the regulation of reproduction in F. chinensis.展开更多

For the first time, it became possible to synthesize controllable composition of poly(3-hydroxyalkanoate) (P3HA) consisting of 3-hydroxydodec- anoate (3HDD) and phenyl group on the side-chain when chromosome of Pseudomonas entomophila was edited to weaken its t-oxidation. Cultured in the presence of 5-phenylvaleric acid (PVA), the edited P. entomophila produced only homopolymer poly(3-hydroxy-5-phenylvalerate) or P(3HPhV). While copolyesters P(3HPhV-co-3HDD) of 3-hydroxy-5-phenylvalerate (3HPhV) and 3-hydroxydodecanoate (3HDD) were synthesized when the strain was grown on mixtures of PVA and dodecanoic acid (DDA). Compositions of 3HPhV in P(3HPhV-co-3HDD) were controllable ranging from 3% to 32% depending on DDDA/PVA ratios. Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectra clearly indicated that the polymers were homopolymer of P(3HPhV) and random copolymers of 3HPhV and 3HDD. Their mechanical and thermal properties varied dramatically de- pending on the monomer ratios. Our results demonstrated the possibility to produce tailor-made, novel functional PHA using the chromosome edited P. entomophila.展开更多

文摘Anomalous trajectory detection and traffic flow classification for complicated airspace are of vital importance to safety and efficiency analysis.Some researchers employed density-based unsupervised machine learning method to exploit these trajectories related to air traffic control(ATC)actions.However,the quality of position data and the tiny density difference between traffic flows in the terminal area make it particularly challenging.To alleviate these two challenges,this paper proposes a novel framework which combines robust deep auto-encoder(RDAE)model and density peak(DP)clustering algorithm.Specifically,the RDAE model is utilized to reconstruct denoising trajectory and identify anomaly trajectories in the terminal area by two different regularizations.Then,the nonlinear components captured by the encoder of RDAE are input in the DP algorithm to classify the global traffic flows.An experiment on a terminal airspace at Guangzhou Baiyun Airport(ZGGG)with anomaly label shows that the proposed combination can automatically capture non-conventional spatiotemporal traffic patterns in the aircraft movement.The superiority of RDAE and combination are also demonstrated by visualizing and quantitatively evaluating the experimental results.

文摘A preliminary investigation of shape memory (SM) effects of SMPU (shape memory polyurethane) knitting fabric is presented in this paper. Three SMPU knitted fabrics series with different content of SMPU fibers: 100% SMPU, 50% SMPU and 50% cotton, 16% SMPU and 84% cotton are designed and manufactured in our lab. Their shape memory behaviors at different temperatures are characterized in terms of bagging. Our experimental results showed that shape memory effect can be improved with increasing content of SMPU fibers. A comparison between Lycra and SMPU knitted fabrics was also made to validate the shape memory effects of SMPU knitted fabrics.

文摘Objective To investigate the variability of human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) UL138 open reading frame (ORF) in clinical strains. Methods HCMV UL138 ORF was amplified by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and PCR amplification products were sequenced directly, and the data were analyzed in 19 clinical strains. Results LIL138 ORF in all 30 clinical strains was amplified successfully. Compared with that of Toledo strain, the nucleotide and amino acid sequence identifies of LIL138 ORF in all strains were 97.41% to 99.41% and 98.24% to 99.42%, respectively. All of the nucleofide mutations were substitutions. The spatial structure and post-translational modification sites of HL138 encoded proteins were conserved. The result of phylogenetic tree showed that HCMV HL138 sequence variations were not definitely related with different clinical symptoms. Conclusion HCMV UL138 ORF in clinical strains is high conservation, which might be helpful for UL138 encoded protein to play a role in latent infection of HCMV.
文摘The ftrst numerical simulation code package WITRIM has been developed to calculate the tritium inventory distribution and time-evolution in all sub-systems of FEB fusion reactor. The applications during recent six years indicate that it is reasonable and fully admitted by colleagues abroad. Some creative papers with new concept are published. For instance, we first time pointed out a new phenomenon of "tritium well depth and tritium well time" during the fusion reactor start-up phase. This is somewhat similar to, but quite different from the "iodine well depth and iodine well time" poisoning problem during restart-up process of a fission reactor. The authors not only proposed but also numerically solved this new phenomenon. The combination of the SWITRIM code package, user's guide, and application example are briefly introduced in this article.
文摘In this work, the mechanical tensile and elongation properties and the non-woven polypropylene flammability were evaluated, with variations of gratings, compared to non-woven fabrics prepared with thermo film and TNT (fabric non-fabric), for applications such as geotextile sorption of oil spills. The results showed high values of tensile strength for non-woven fabric prepared for application as geotextile, improving the mechanical properties of rupture.

文摘It is illegal to spread and transmit pornographic images over internet,either in real or in artificial format.The traditional methods are designed to identify real pornographic images and they are less efficient in dealing with artificial images.Therefore,criminals turn to release artificial pornographic images in some specific scenes,e.g.,in social networks.To efficiently identify artificial pornographic images,a novel bag-of-visual-words based approach is proposed in the work.In the bag-of-words(Bo W)framework,speeded-up robust feature(SURF)is adopted for feature extraction at first,then a visual vocabulary is constructed through K-means clustering and images are represented by an improved Bo W encoding method,and finally the visual words are fed into a learning machine for training and classification.Different from the traditional BoW method,the proposed method sets a weight on each visual word according to the number of features that each cluster contains.Moreover,a non-binary encoding method and cross-matching strategy are utilized to improve the discriminative power of the visual words.Experimental results indicate that the proposed method outperforms the traditional method.

文摘RNA helicases of the DEAD-box and related families are involved in various cellular processes including DNA replication, DNA repair, and RNA processing. However, the function of DEAD-box proteins in aquaculture species is poorly understood at molecular level. We obtained the full-length cDNA sequences of two genes encoding helicase-related proteins, Fc-vasa and Fc-PL10a, from the testes of Chinese shrimp, Fenneropenaeus chinensis. The two predicted amino acid sequences contain all the conserved motifs characterized by the DEAD-box family and several RGG repeats in the N-terminal regions. Homology and phylogenetic analyses indicate that they belong to the vasa and PLIO subfamilies. The three-dimensional structures of the two proteins were predicted with a homology modeling approach. Both core proteins consist of two tandem RecA-like domains similar to those of the DEAD-box RNA helicase. Using reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and real-time PCR we found that Fc-vasa was expressed specifically in the adult gonads. Transcription decreased in the ovary but increased in the testis during gonadal development. Fc-PL10a expression was widely distributed in the tissues we examined. Using in situ hybridization, we demonstrated that the Fc-vasa transcript is localized to the cytoplasm of the spermatogonia and oocytes. Thus, our results suggest that Fc-wasa plays an important role in germ-line development, and has utility as a germ cell lineage marker which will help to generate new insight into the origin and differentiation of germ cells as well as the regulation of reproduction in F. chinensis.

文摘Microbial synthesis of functional polymers has become increasingly important for industrial biotechnology. For the first time, it became possible to synthesize controllable composition of poly(3-hydroxyalkanoate) (P3HA) consisting of 3-hydroxydodec- anoate (3HDD) and phenyl group on the side-chain when chromosome of Pseudomonas entomophila was edited to weaken its t-oxidation. Cultured in the presence of 5-phenylvaleric acid (PVA), the edited P. entomophila produced only homopolymer poly(3-hydroxy-5-phenylvalerate) or P(3HPhV). While copolyesters P(3HPhV-co-3HDD) of 3-hydroxy-5-phenylvalerate (3HPhV) and 3-hydroxydodecanoate (3HDD) were synthesized when the strain was grown on mixtures of PVA and dodecanoic acid (DDA). Compositions of 3HPhV in P(3HPhV-co-3HDD) were controllable ranging from 3% to 32% depending on DDDA/PVA ratios. Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectra clearly indicated that the polymers were homopolymer of P(3HPhV) and random copolymers of 3HPhV and 3HDD. Their mechanical and thermal properties varied dramatically de- pending on the monomer ratios. Our results demonstrated the possibility to produce tailor-made, novel functional PHA using the chromosome edited P. entomophila.
