Codec is a portmanteau of coder-decoder. According to different technical principles of audio compression, audio compression coding methods have their own characteristics. This paper considers that the coding quality is high and the digital rate is also high. In addition, according to the compressed data whether exists information loss, data compression coding can also be divided into two forms, which is lossless compression and lossy compression. Lossy compression method also called compression method for the amount of information. Lossy compression is always larger, widely used in audio compression. It is also familiar to us. However, for the more critical to the quality of people, especially the music enthusiast, lossy compression of audio files often cannot meet their quality on the requirements, and it is very necessary and lossless compression. Firstly, this paper has designed and executed tests to compare the performance ofcodecs by using my methodology. Then, it has analysed the results. Finally, there are conclusions on the relative merits of the codecs selected and some recommendations.展开更多

Downmixing and parametric coding is efficient coding scheme with wide applications in some up-to-date audio codecs such as Parametric Stereo (PS) in EAAC+ and MPEG-Surround. Principle Component Analysis (PCA) stereo coding followed this idea to map two channels to one channel with maximum energy and parameterize the secondary channel. This paper investigates the conventional PCA method performance under general stereo model with multiple sound sources and different directions, and then proposes a Polar Coordinate based PCA (PC-PCA) stereo coding method. It has been proved that when multiple sound sources exist with different directions, PC-PCA is better than the conventional PCA method when Mean to Standard deviation Ratio (MSR) is large. A stereo codec based on PC-PCA is proposed to validate the performance improvement of proposed method. Objective and subjective tests show the proposed method achieves a comparative quality and saves 50% parameter bit rate comparing with conventional PCA method, and obtains a 4-8 MUSHRA scores improvement comparing with state-of-the-art stereo codec at the same parameter bit rate.展开更多

Three key steps are encompassed in the proposed method, namely, the simplification of vector data map via the elimination of vertices, the compression of re- moved vertices based on a clustering model, and the decoding of the compressed vector data map. The proposed compres- sion method was implemented and applied to compress vector data map to investigate its performance in terms of the com- pression ratio and distortions of geometric shapes. The results show that the proposed method provides a feasible and effi- cient solution for the compression of vector data map and is able to achieve a promising ratio of compression and maintain the main shape characteristics of the spatial objects within the compressed vector data map.展开更多

Based on the rate-distortion criterion, the quantization level adjustment algorithm effectively improves coding efficiency by adaptively optimizing quantization levels of the signals near the boundaries of quantization cells and adjusting quantization levels per block. In addition, it has no overhead and is fully compatible with the existing compression standards. The proposed algorithm can be applied in any block based image and video coding method. In particular, the algorithm has been verified on the platform of H.264. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm improves objective and subjective performances substantially. It is shown that the proposed algorithm has a gain of several dB comparing with the newest H.264 standard for high bit rates.展开更多

文摘In this paper, a rate-distortion based quantization level adjustment (RDQLA) algorithm is presented.
