A general architecture of IUCELA is designed to connect multiple sensing devices with locationaware applications. Then the function of location-aware middleware which is the core componnet of the proposed architecture is elaborated. The temporal and spatial distribution characteristics of earthquakes in the Ordos block are studied by using historical earthquake data,instrument data of the regional seismic network around the Ordos block and the hi...The temporal and spatial distribution characteristics of earthquakes in the Ordos block are studied by using historical earthquake data,instrument data of the regional seismic network around the Ordos block and the historical felt earthquake data,and the relationship between seismicity in the Ordos block and seismicity around the Ordos block is discussed. The result shows that the Ordos block is a typical moderate-strong earthquake active region where many M_S≥5.0 destructive earthquakes have occurred. The temporal and spatial distribution of earthquakes in the Ordos block is asymmetrical. The temporal distribution of earthquakes shows a periodic characteristic and the activity of earthquakes in the southeastern Ordos block is higher than in the northwest Ordos block. The M_S≥5.0 moderate size earthquakes in the Ordos block are controlled by the M_S≥6.0 earthquake around the Ordos block.展开更多
In this paper,according to the Fujian Seismic Network earthquake catalog records,the T now method and the Four Stations Continuous Location method( hereinafter called FSCL)put forward by Jin Xing are inspected by usin...In this paper,according to the Fujian Seismic Network earthquake catalog records,the T now method and the Four Stations Continuous Location method( hereinafter called FSCL)put forward by Jin Xing are inspected by using P-wave arrival information of the first four stations of each seismic event. Results show that for earthquakes within the network,both methods can obtain similar location results and location deviations are small for the majority of the events. For earthquakes outside the network,the location deviation may be amplified as the epicentral distance increases,owing to the seismic station distribution which spread toward the side of the epicenter and the small opening angle between seismic stations used for locating and epicenter. For the FSCL method,the impacts of the wave velocity on the location results may be significant for earthquakes outside the network.Thus,selecting a velocity model which is similar to the actual structure of the wave velocity will contribute to improving location results of earthquakes. The FSCL method can locate more seismic events than the T now method. It concludes that the T now method makes use of mistake information from some non-triggering stations in earthquake catalog,and some P-wave arrivals are not included in the earthquake catalog due to discontinuous records or unclear records of the seismic phase,which induces incorrect location.展开更多
The Panzhihua Ms6. 1 earthquake sequence on August 30, 2008 was relocated using the Hypo2000 + HypoDD algorithm with the seismic phase data from the Sichuan and Yunnan regional digital seismic networks, and the resul...The Panzhihua Ms6. 1 earthquake sequence on August 30, 2008 was relocated using the Hypo2000 + HypoDD algorithm with the seismic phase data from the Sichuan and Yunnan regional digital seismic networks, and the results show that the epicenters are distributed in the near NS direction, the length of aftershock concentration zone is about 30kin, and the main shock is about 14km in depth. The depth of the sequence is distributed in the range of 0 -4km and 5 -20km, and the layer of 4 -5kin depth is an apparent earthquake absence layer. The cross-section along the fracture's long axis shows there is an irregular seismic gap in the middle segment of the aftershock region, which is the rupture region of 3 the M6 3/4earthquake in 1955, and this earthquake occurred in the south of the gap. We believe that the Panzhihua Ms6. 1 earthquake sequence on August 30, 2008 was a result of rupture of the residual asperity caused by the stress adjustment of the Wenchuan Ms8. 0 earthquake. The other two profiles perpendicular to the long axis show that the focal depth in the north segment is larger and the fault plane dips NW, which is consistent with the dip of the Hongge fault.展开更多

Based on the seismic observation report data provided by the Xinjiang Digital Seismic Network from 2009 to 2014,we calculate the wave velocity ratio and its background value for medium and small earthquakes by using t...Based on the seismic observation report data provided by the Xinjiang Digital Seismic Network from 2009 to 2014,we calculate the wave velocity ratio and its background value for medium and small earthquakes by using the multi-station method in Tianshan,Xinjiang.This paper analyzes the variation of the wave velocity ratio disturbance value to highlight the abnormal,and also back-traces 7 moderate earthquakes at the research area.The results show that:(1)the background value of the wave velocity ratio is almost 1.70,the wave velocity ratio obviously decreases in the middle-eastern part of Tianshan and the region near the Puchang fault;(2)the wave velocity ratio disturbance value is mostly low in the epicenter before four earthquakes of M≥5.0 from 2011 to 2013 in the study area;(3)before 7 moderate strong earthquakes,the earthquake events with low value of the wave velocity ratio account for over 60% of corresponding total events near the epicenters,and the low value of the wave velocity ratio is relatively obvious before moderate earthquakes.展开更多

The disaster level of this event is the slightest on t...An earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale struck Wen'an county,Hebei Province on July 4,2006. No casualties have been reported,with only slight damage. The disaster level of this event is the slightest on the M4.9~5.1 events record tally since the CCDSN (China Center of Digital Seismic Network) was built in 1999. The epicenter intensity of this earthquake was low,while in areas like Beijing,which is 100km far away,abnormal high intensity zones appeared. This article discusses the reasons behind this abnormal phenomenon,with the diagrams of intensity isolines drawn by the intense seismic stations and networks in the capital circle area as references,as well as the seismogenic mechanism in the source,the seismic histories,the geological structures and the ray pathways of seismic waves in areas within 150km around the epicenter. It was concluded that the special dynamic and geological situations were the main causes for the lower intensity degree and slight damage in the epicenter area,but higher intensity in the surrounding areas.展开更多
