Some existing fast spectrum sensing algorithms cannot get sp...This paper focuses on improving the detection performance of spectrum sensing in cognitive radio(CR) networks under complicated electromagnetic environment. Some existing fast spectrum sensing algorithms cannot get specific features of the licensed users'(LUs') signal, thus they cannot be applied in this situation without knowing the power of noise. On the other hand some algorithms that yield specific features are too complicated. In this paper, an algorithm based on the cyclostationary feature detection and theory of Hilbert transformation is proposed. Comparing with the conventional cyclostationary feature detection algorithm, this approach is more flexible i.e. it can flexibly change the computational complexity according to current electromagnetic environment by changing its sampling times and the step size of cyclic frequency. Results of simulation indicate that this approach can flexibly detect the feature of received signal and provide satisfactory detection performance compared to existing approaches in low Signal-to-noise Ratio(SNR) situations.展开更多
An improved automatic voltage coordination control strategy (AVCCS) based on ;automatic voltage control (AVC) and battery energy storage control (BESC) is proposed for photovoltaic grid-connected system (PVGS)...An improved automatic voltage coordination control strategy (AVCCS) based on ;automatic voltage control (AVC) and battery energy storage control (BESC) is proposed for photovoltaic grid-connected system (PVGS) to mitigate the voltage fluctuations caused by environmental disturbances. Only AVC is used when small environ- mental disturbances happen, while BESC is incorporated with AVC to restrain the voltage fluctuations when large disturbances happen. An adjustable parameter determining the allowed amplitudes of voltage fluctuations is introduced to realize the above switching process. A benchmark low voltage distribution system including ]?VGS is established by using the commercial software Dig SILENT. Simulation results show that the voltage under AVCCS satisfies the IEEE Standard 1547, and the installed battery capacity is also reduced. Meanwhile, the battery's service life is ex- tended by avoiding frequent charges/discharges in the control process.展开更多

This paper analyzes and discusses overseas and domestic research achievements on radio interference, audible noise, power frequency electric field, power frequency magnetic fields, DC resultant field intensity and ion stream involved in power transmission at ultra-high-voltage (UHV)AC and ± 800 kV DC or even higher voltage levels. Along with such a tendency, the number of students who use PC (Personal computer) has also increased during the lesson at university. Hereupon, the authors investigate whether the students will get high scores in tests when some limitations are imposed on the students' use of the PC during lecture and when they are not. The authors create the tool to check the students' learning situation and to grasp which student is performing the PC operations, which are not related to the ongoing lesson, during the lecture. Teaching assistant carrying the iPad is made to walk around the class during the lecture and collect data of the students. In addition, the authors develop "MyPage" that the students can be given access to their personal information including individual class absence/tardiness, lesson comprehension and question understanding level of them and after using MyPage, the authors examine its effectiveness as a tool and its relationship with their attendance rate.展开更多

The theoretical background of the allowable conductor temperature as well as load current determination principles are proposed. On one hand, the principles are based on mechanical limitations; on the other hand, they are based on thermal limitations. The simulation tasks were based on specific data information of three existing overhead lines of Latvian power system as well as the planned 330 kV overhead line. Moreover, the special thermovision device was used for precious determination of conductor temperature of the existing transmission lines. This study aims to identify the current situation and problems of environmental information statement for major four home appliances (refrigerators, washing machines, air conditioners and television receivers) sold ...This study aims to identify the current situation and problems of environmental information statement for major four home appliances (refrigerators, washing machines, air conditioners and television receivers) sold at online stores in Japan, and then to suggest how to improve the situation, through a questionnaire survey conducted among businesses that operate online stores and online malls with multiple online stores. The findings of this study are summarized into the following two points: (l) It is found out that environmental information statement for the home appliances at online stores has four problems: (i) less information on "three Rs (reduce, reuse and recycle)" and "chemical substances" than the one on "energy conservation"; (ii) cost for providing environmental information statement; (iii) issues associated with a label and mark placement; (iv) issues associated with energy conservation statement. (2) Improvements are suggested for each of the four problems listed above, and shown are (i) the effectiveness of, and need to promote, a label and mark placement; (ii) cost burden on buyers; (iii) need of active efforts made by businesses and of dissemination of legal regulations to businesses.展开更多

In real life situation, electrical machines usually share voltage and current from common terminals and would easily influence each other. This will result in considerable amount of interferences among motors and doubt in identity of fault signals. Therefore, estimating the mutual influence of motors will help identifying the original signal from the environmental noise. This research aims at modelling the propagation of signals that are caused by faults of induction motors in power networks. Estimating the propagation pattern of fault signal leads to a method to discriminate and identify the original source of major events in industrial networks. Simulation results show that source of fault could be identified using this approach with a higher certainty than anticipated output coming of any individual diagnosis.展开更多

By processing these threat information, it completes the construction of three-dimensional power security defense system. The paper carries on the corresponding data training methods by using T-shirt model fuzzy neural network, which has certain reference significance for the data analysis of other similar fields. The first model consists of speed gov...Modeling and simulation of two different microturbine (MT) models to analyze load following performance as distributed energy resource (DER) have been presented in this paper. The first model consists of speed governor, acceleration control, and temperature control blocks while the other is GAST model. The system comprises a synchronous generator and a MT coupled to it. Simulations are carried out in islanded and grid-connected mode to observe the system response when supplying variable loads. The load following characteristics is observed and validated for this MT-synchronous generator model in Matlab-Simulink environment. This is applicable with combined heat power (CHP) generators both with general fuel as well as bio-fuels. The use of bio-fuels is very much promising for generating green power preventing green house gas emissions for fighting against global warming.展开更多

Herein, hollow- channel t...The construction of flexible platform possessing the functions of immobilizing, separating, rinsing, and high-throughput analysis plays a significant role in biological and clinical research. Herein, hollow- channel technique was integrated with lab-on-paper for the simultaneous determination of two different concentrations of Zn2+ based on the origami principle, in which microfiuidic channels were first patterned on a cellulose paper using commercial solid-state wax printer. Hollow-channels were created by laser cutting method as the role of both injecting ending and reaction tank. After screen printing three elec- trodes system, the resulting planar paper sheets were then folded into steric structures and functional- ized by in-situ synthesized reduced graphene oxide. As a proof-of-concept, such lab-on-paper device was employed in the ratiometric electrochemical monitoring of zinc ion from the environment and HepG2 cells extract, by combining with co-catalysis of porous metal-organic frameworks and hemin/ G-quadruplex toward H202 in the linear range of 0.1-7,000 nmol/L. The results indicated that integrating hollow-channel with steric lab-on-paper offered a new methodological approach for the development of metal ions monitoring research. It is believed that it could be useful for various point-of-care related research fields, such as, on-site environmental monitoring, food safety, and disease diagnosis.展开更多
