Due to 5G's stringent and uncertainty traffic requirements,open ecosystem would be one inevitable way to develop 5G.On the other hand,GPP based mobile communication becomes appealing recently attributed to its striking advantage in flexibility and re-configurability.In this paper,both the advantages and challenges of GPP platform are detailed analyzed.Furthermore,both GPP based software and hardware architectures for open 5G are presented and the performances of real-time signal processing and power consumption are also evaluated.The evaluation results indicate that turbo and power consumption may be another challengeable problem should be further solved to meet the requirements of realistic deployments. 展开更多

In order to achieve the acoustic signal distributed acquisition of stored grain pests, a novel acoustic signal acquisition system was presented based on the wireless sensor networks. And the system architecture, hardware configuration, and software were introduced in detail. Considering bandwidth limitation of wireless sensor networks, random sampling algorithm based on the compressed sensing theory was proposed. The developed acoustic signal acquisition system was applied in sampling the crawl acoustic signal of Tribolinm castaneum Herbst adults in granary. Preliminary experimentation indicated the rationality and practicability of the developed system and the proposed algorithm. They can implement the remote, real-time, and reliable wireless transmission for the acoustic signal sampled data of multiple points stored grain pests effectively. 展开更多

A new optical wireless network based on white LED lights in home area is proposed. It is a duplex channel communication system utilizing signal emitters of white LED lights in the downlink and infrared devices in the uplink. Strategies for the system construction are given. Performance for users' mobile access of different kinds of optical concentrators is investigated. Indoor channel band-width is analyzed considering white LED light distribution, wall reflection, and receivers field of view (FOV). Various modulation methods are discussed. A demo point-to-point system for surfing the net is constructed using a new line code of 4B6B which is developed to stabilize the optical output, and a peak data rate of 1 Mbps is achieved. This system is built into the lighting infrastructure, therefore decreasing the cost and offering a solution for wireless access in places which are sensitive to radio frequency like hospitals. 展开更多

Since Caenorhabditis elegans was chosen as a model organism by Sydney Brenner in 1960's, genetic studies in this organism have been instrumental in discovering the function of genes and in deciphering molecular signaling network. The small size of the organism and the simple nervous system enable the complete reconstruction of the first connectome. The stereotypic developmental program and the anatomical reproducibility of synaptic connections provide a blueprint to dissect the mechanisms underlying synapse formation. Recent technological innovation using laser surgery of single axons and in vivo imaging has also made C. elegans a new model for axon regeneration. Importantly, genes regulating synaptogenesis and axon regeneration are highly conserved in function across animal phyla. This mini-review will summarize the main approaches and the key findings in understanding the mechanisms underlying the development and maintenance of the nervous system. The impact of such findings underscores the awesome power of C. elegans genetics. 展开更多
