In order to save the energy, multi-hop routing between the sensor nodes and the sink node is necessary because of limited resource. In addition, the unpredictable conditional factors make the sensor nodes unreliable. In this paper, the reliability of routing designed for sensor network and some dependability issues of DSN, such as MTTF (mean time to failure) and the probability of connectivity between the sensor nodes and the sink node are analyzed. Unfortunately, we could not obtain the accurate result for the arbitrary network topology, which is #P-hard problem. And the reliability analysis of restricted topologies clustering-based is given. The method proposed in this paper will show us a constructive idea about how to place energy-constrained sensor nodes in the network efficiently from the prospective of reliability.展开更多

Ecological network analysis(ENA) was introduced in this paper as an approach to quantitatively measure the growth, development, and sustainability of an economic system. The Guangdong economic networks from 1987 to 2010 were analyzed by applying the ENA approach. Firstly, a currency flow network among economic sectors was constructed to represent the Guangdong economic system by adapting the input-output(I-O) table data. Then, the network indicators from the ENA framework involving the total system throughput(TST), average mutual information(AMI), ascendency(A), redundancy(R) and development capacity(C) were calculated. Lastly, the network indicators were analyzed to acquire the overall features of Guangdong's economic operations during 1987–2010. The results are as follows: the trends of the network indicators show that the size of the Guangdong economic network grows exponentially at a high rate during 1987–2010, whereas its efficiency does not present a clear trend over its whole period. The growth is the main characteristic of the Guangdong economy during 1987–2010, with no clear evidence regarding its development. The quantitative results of the network also confirmed that the growth contributed to a great majority of the Guangdong economy during 1987–2010, whereas the development's contribution was tiny during the same period. The average value of the sustainability indicator(α) of the Guangdong economic network was 0.222 during 1987–2010, which is less than the theoretically optimal value of 0.37 for a sustainable human-influenced system. The results suggest that the Guangdong economic system needs a further autocatalysis to improve its efficiency to support the system maintaining a sustainable evolvement.展开更多

The algorithm integrates the concepts of artificial neural network, the first order second moment reliability method and the deterministic stability analysis method of earth slope. The performance function and its derivatives in slope stability analysis under seismic loadings were approximated by a trained multi-layer feed-forward neural network with differentiable transfer functions. The statistical moments calculated from the performance function values and the corresponding gradients using neural network were then used in the first order second moment method for the calculation of the reliability index in slope safety analysis. Two earth slope examples were presented for illustrating the applicability of the proposed approach. The new method is effective in slope reliability analysis. And it has potential application to other reliability problems of complicated engineering structure with a considerably large number of random variables.展开更多

System reliability can produce a strong influence on the performance of the heat exchanger network(HEN).In this paper,an optimization method with system reliability analysis for flexible HEN by genetic/simulated annea...System reliability can produce a strong influence on the performance of the heat exchanger network(HEN).In this paper,an optimization method with system reliability analysis for flexible HEN by genetic/simulated annealing algorithms(GA/SA) is presented.Initial flexible arrangements of HEN is received by pseudo-temperature enthalpy diagram.For determining system reliability of HEN,the connections of heat exchangers(HEXs) and independent subsystems in the HEN are analyzed by the connection sequence matrix(CSM),and the system reliability is measured by the independent subsystem including maximum number of HEXs in the HEN.As for the HEN that did not meet system reliability,HEN decoupling is applied and the independent subsystems in the HEN are changed by removing decoupling HEX,and thus the system reliability is elevated.After that,heat duty redistribution based on the relevant elements of the heat load loops and HEX areas are optimized in GA/SA.Then,the favorable network configuration,which matches both the most economical cost and system reliability criterion,is located.Moreover,particular features belonging to suitable decoupling HEX are extracted from calculations.Corresponding numerical example is presented to verify that the proposed strategy is effective to formulate optimal flexible HEN with system reliability measurement.展开更多

The traffic with tidal phenomenon in Heterogeneous Wireless Networks(HWNs)has radically increased the complexity of radio resource management and its performance analysis.In this paper,a Simplified Dynamic Hierarchy R...The traffic with tidal phenomenon in Heterogeneous Wireless Networks(HWNs)has radically increased the complexity of radio resource management and its performance analysis.In this paper,a Simplified Dynamic Hierarchy Resource Management(SDHRM)algorithm exploiting the resources dynamically and intelligently is proposed with the consideration of tidal traffic.In network-level resource allocation,the proposed algorithm first adopts wavelet neural network to forecast the traffic of each sub-area and then allocates the resources to those sub-areas to maximise the network utility.In connection-level network selection,based on the above resource allocation and the pre-defined QoS requirement,three typical network selection policies are provided to assign traffic flow to the most appropriate network.Furthermore,based on multidimensional Markov model,we analyse the performance of SDHRM in HWNs with heavy tailed traffic.Numerical results show that our theoretical values coincide with the simulation results and the SDHRM can improve the resource utilization.展开更多

It is demonstrated that dense partitions improve autonomic processing scalability, for instance, reducing routing process complexity. The solution looks for a significant trade-off between partition autonomic algorithm execution time and path selection quality in large domains. Simulation scenarios for path selection execution time are presented and discussed. Distributed coordinated control of networked robotic systems formulated by Lagrange dynamics has recently been a subject of considerable interest within science and technology communities due to its broad engineering ...Distributed coordinated control of networked robotic systems formulated by Lagrange dynamics has recently been a subject of considerable interest within science and technology communities due to its broad engineering applications involving complex and integrated production processes,where high flexibility,manipulability,and maneuverability are desirable characteristics.In this paper,we investigate the distributed coordinated adaptive tracking problem of networked redundant robotic systems with a dynamic leader.We provide an analysis procedure for the controlled synchronization of such systems with uncertain dynamics.We also find that the proposed control strategy does not require computing positional inverse kinematics and does not impose any restriction on the self-motion of the manipulators;therefore,the extra degrees of freedom are applicable for other sophisticated subtasks.Compared with some existing work,a distinctive feature of the designed distributed control algorithm is that only a subset of followers needs to access the position information of the dynamic leader in the task space,where the underlying directed graph has a spanning tree.Subsequently,we present a simulation example to verify the effectiveness of the proposed algorithms.展开更多

Commodity multi-core CPUs have been widely applied in network...The demands of programmability have become more and more exigent as novel network services appear, such as E-commerce, social softwares, and online videos. Commodity multi-core CPUs have been widely applied in network packet processing to get high programmability and reduce the time-to-market. However,there is a great gap between the packet processing performance of commodity multi-core and that of the traditional packet processing hardware, e.g., NP(Network Process). Recently, optimization of the packet processing performance of commodity multi-cores has become a hot topic in industry and academia. In this paper, based on a detailed analysis of the packet processing procedure, firstly we identify two dominating overheads, namely the virtual-to-physical address translation and the packet buffer management. Secondly, we make a comprehensive survey on the current optimization methods. Thirdly, based on the survey, the heterogeneous architecture of the commodity multi-core + FPGA is proposed as a promising way to improve the packet processing performance.Fourthly, a novel Self-Described Buffer(SDB) management technology is introduced to eliminate the overheads of the allocation and deallocation of the packet buffers offloaded to FPGA. Then, an evaluation testbed, named PIOT(Packet I/O Testbed), is designed and implemented to evaluate the packet forwarding performance. I/O capacity of different commodity multi-core CPUs and the performance of optimization methods are assessed and compared based on PIOT. At last, the future work of packet processing optimization on multi-core CPUs is discussed.展开更多

Reliability evaluatio...As technology scales down, the reliability issues are becoming more crucial, especially for networks-on-chip (NoCs) that provide the communication requirements of multi-processor systems-on-chip. Reliability evaluation based on analytical models is a precise method for dependability analysis before and after designing the fault-tolerant systems. In this paper, we accurately formulate the inherent reliability and vulnerability of some popular NoC architectures against permanent faults, also depending on the employed routing algorithm and traffic model. Based on this analysis, effects of failures in the links, switches and network interfaces on the packet delivery of NoCs are determined. Besides, some extensions to evaluate a fault-tolerant method and some routing algorithms are described. The analyses are validated through appropriate simulations. The results thus obtained are exactly the same as or very close to the analytical ones.展开更多

Since the traditional IP provides the best effort service only, the issue of supporting IP packets with QoS (quality of Service) transfer has become a crucial issue for multimedia transmission. We do so by addressing the priority-aware QoS model. Finally present performance analysis multiple classes of hierarchical WDM ring networks.

文摘Distributed coordinated control of networked robotic systems formulated by Lagrange dynamics has recently been a subject of considerable interest within science and technology communities due to its broad engineering applications involving complex and integrated production processes,where high flexibility,manipulability,and maneuverability are desirable characteristics.In this paper,we investigate the distributed coordinated adaptive tracking problem of networked redundant robotic systems with a dynamic leader.We provide an analysis procedure for the controlled synchronization of such systems with uncertain dynamics.We also find that the proposed control strategy does not require computing positional inverse kinematics and does not impose any restriction on the self-motion of the manipulators;therefore,the extra degrees of freedom are applicable for other sophisticated subtasks.Compared with some existing work,a distinctive feature of the designed distributed control algorithm is that only a subset of followers needs to access the position information of the dynamic leader in the task space,where the underlying directed graph has a spanning tree.Subsequently,we present a simulation example to verify the effectiveness of the proposed algorithms.

文摘This paper addresses the teachability/controllability of high order mix-valued logical control networks by using the semi-tensor product method, and presents some necessary and sufficient conditions for the reachability/controllability. The high order mix-valued logical network is converted into an algebraic form first, baaed on which the reachability/controllability of the system is then investigated, and several necessary and sufficient conditions are established. The study of several illustrative examples shows that our new method is very effective in dealing with the reachability/controllability of high order mix-valued logical control networks.

文摘The demands of programmability have become more and more exigent as novel network services appear, such as E-commerce, social softwares, and online videos. Commodity multi-core CPUs have been widely applied in network packet processing to get high programmability and reduce the time-to-market. However,there is a great gap between the packet processing performance of commodity multi-core and that of the traditional packet processing hardware, e.g., NP(Network Process). Recently, optimization of the packet processing performance of commodity multi-cores has become a hot topic in industry and academia. In this paper, based on a detailed analysis of the packet processing procedure, firstly we identify two dominating overheads, namely the virtual-to-physical address translation and the packet buffer management. Secondly, we make a comprehensive survey on the current optimization methods. Thirdly, based on the survey, the heterogeneous architecture of the commodity multi-core + FPGA is proposed as a promising way to improve the packet processing performance.Fourthly, a novel Self-Described Buffer(SDB) management technology is introduced to eliminate the overheads of the allocation and deallocation of the packet buffers offloaded to FPGA. Then, an evaluation testbed, named PIOT(Packet I/O Testbed), is designed and implemented to evaluate the packet forwarding performance. I/O capacity of different commodity multi-core CPUs and the performance of optimization methods are assessed and compared based on PIOT. At last, the future work of packet processing optimization on multi-core CPUs is discussed.
文摘As technology scales down, the reliability issues are becoming more crucial, especially for networks-on-chip (NoCs) that provide the communication requirements of multi-processor systems-on-chip. Reliability evaluation based on analytical models is a precise method for dependability analysis before and after designing the fault-tolerant systems. In this paper, we accurately formulate the inherent reliability and vulnerability of some popular NoC architectures against permanent faults, also depending on the employed routing algorithm and traffic model. Based on this analysis, effects of failures in the links, switches and network interfaces on the packet delivery of NoCs are determined. Besides, some extensions to evaluate a fault-tolerant method and some routing algorithms are described. The analyses are validated through appropriate simulations. The results thus obtained are exactly the same as or very close to the analytical ones.
