A novel Wireless Fidelity (WiFi) over fiber link and a wavelength assignment protocol are proposed to provide sufficient bandwidth and extensive coverage range for the various applications in the Internet of Things (I...A novel Wireless Fidelity (WiFi) over fiber link and a wavelength assignment protocol are proposed to provide sufficient bandwidth and extensive coverage range for the various applications in the Internet of Things (IoT).The performance of the WiFi over fiber-based wireless IoT network is evaluated in terms of error vector magnitude (EVM) and data throughput for both the up and down links between the WiFi central control system and remote radio units (RRUs).The experimental results illustrate the reliability of the fiber transmission of 64 Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (64QAM) WiFi signals by direct analog modulation.In order to efficiently utilize the wavelength resources,we also demonstrated the wavelength assignment protocol by employing optical switching configurations in Central Station (CS) to realize the wavelength switching,and the simulation results indicate the queuing size and the corresponding queue delay for different numbers of available wavelengths.展开更多

An adaptive fuzzy logic controller (AFC) is presented for the signal control of the urban traffic network. The AFC is composed of the signal control system-oriented control level and the signal controller-oriented fuz...An adaptive fuzzy logic controller (AFC) is presented for the signal control of the urban traffic network. The AFC is composed of the signal control system-oriented control level and the signal controller-oriented fuzzy rules regulation level. The control level decides the signal timings in an intersection with a fuzzy logic controller. The regulation level optimizes the fuzzy rules by the Adaptive Rule Module in AFC according to both the system performance index in current control period and the traffic flows in the last one. Consequently the system performances are improved. A weight coefficient controller (WCC) is also developed to describe the interactions of traffic flow among the adjacent intersections. So the AFC combined with the WCC can be applied in a road network for signal timings. Simulations of the AFC on a real traffic scenario have been conducted. Simulation results indicate that the adaptive controller for traffic control shows better performance than the actuated one.展开更多
To enhance the communication quality of Open Flow controlled all-optical networks,an optical signal-to-noise ratio comprehensive-awareness(OSNR-CA) model based lightpath control scheme is proposed.This approach transf...To enhance the communication quality of Open Flow controlled all-optical networks,an optical signal-to-noise ratio comprehensive-awareness(OSNR-CA) model based lightpath control scheme is proposed.This approach transforms main physical-layer optical impairments into OSNR value,and takes this comprehensive OSNR value of the optical signal along the lightpath into consideration,when establishing the lightpath for the connection request using OpenFlow protocol.Moreover,the proposed scheme makes full advantages of the OSNR monitoring function in each node,and assigns the lightpath according to the comprehensive-OSNR value by extending messages of Open Flow protocol,in order to guarantee the reliable establishment of the lightpath.The simulation results show that the proposed scheme has better performance in terms of packet loss rate and lightpath establishment time.展开更多
