This study aims： （1） to describe the students＇ perception of the use of Interact as teaching media in learning reading comprehension; （2） to depict the students＇ perception of the importance oflnternet to access information; and （3） to explain the students＇ frequency to access Internet. This study uses the descriptive method to reveal the research problems. A questionnaire is used to collect the data. It consists of 20 questions with five options to reveal the students＇ perception of the use of Internet. The questionnaire is distributed to 120 students who took reading subject at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang. The study shows that （1） The students＇ perception toward the use of Internet to improve Reading Comprehension subject is positive; （2） According to the students, the use of Internet to access reading materials is very important; and （3） The students frequently access Internet to find the reading materials.展开更多

The participants of the st...This study aimed at investigating the effect of using a Web Quest program on developing some EFL critical reading and writing skills of the first year experimental secondary school students. The participants of the study were 60 students from one of the Experimental Secondary Schools in Egypt. Instruments of the study were EFL critical reading and writing tests. Students in both the experimental and the control groups were pre-tested using the critical reading test and the writing test. Then, students of the experimental group were using Web Quest. Finally, students in both groups were post-tested using the same instruments. The study showed that there was statistically significant difference between the mean scores of the pre and the post critical reading test and writing test of the experimental group in favor of the post tests. This difference can be attributed to using Web Quest.展开更多

The study aims to investigate Taiwan Residents elementary school students＇ use of online reading strategies, and their relationship with students＇ performance on reading proficiency tests. The target population consisted of upper-grade learners （n = 83）. The instruments were a M-SORS （modified survey of reading strategy） questionnaire and a reading proficiency test. Major findings were as follows： （l） Students used online reading strategies at medium level; （2） problem solving strategies were proven to significantly correlate with students＇ performance on reading comprehension test; and （3） there was a significant difference between higher and lower reading proficiency learners＇ use of online reading strategies. Pedagogical implications of the findings and suggestion for future research are discussed.展开更多

The number of online news readers is rapidly increasing along with the popularity of t...Dissemination of information medium are no longer limited to newspapers, television and radio but is extending to the online news. The number of online news readers is rapidly increasing along with the popularity of the Internet. However, only sources that emphasizes the element of credibility will be accepted by the readers. This study was conducted to determine the credibility of online news; to identify the relationship between online news credibility and youth acceptance. Using a quantitative approach, a total of 400 youth selected to participate in the study out of the 68,000 population in Selangor. The data was analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Science （SPSS） version 21.0. This study shows that a group of young women were the common group who seek and read online information. Based on the findings too, online news in Malaysia are less credible. Although the online news is less credible, the results shows that youth read online news because the contents are current and up to date. Further, result of the Pearson＇s correlation test shows that the more credible elements available in online news, the more that medium is accepted by youth.展开更多
