In simple geographical terms, a global city-region can be refered to comprise any major metropolitan area or any contiguous set of metropolitan areas together with a surrounding hinterland of variable extent-itself a locus of scattered urban settlements-whose internal economic and political affairs are bound up in intricate ways in intensifying and far-flung extra-national relationships. Scott refers to these extra-national relationships as a symptom of "globalization". As economic motors and political actors, the global city regions have been regarded as crucial parts of development strategies in China. In the "Eleventh Five-year Plan" issued by the National Development and Reform Commission of P. R. China, the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Province (Jing-Jin-Ji) region, one of the typical megalopolises or global city regions in the East Coastal China is paid more attention. This paper first analyzes the regional structure of the Jing-Jin-Ji region based on data of the fifth national population census of China. And then through the changes of the population growth, the dynamic process and mechanisms of the regional restructuring in the Jing-Jin-Ji is explored and discussed.展开更多

The study on the industrial location has become the focus of the massive theoretical location problems about agglomeration since the 1970s. The authors here analyze the evolution and the characteristics of the Industrial Agglomeration Theory and study its effect on the reconstruction of industrial location. The study suggests that the new idea ofrecoustmction of industrial location is to cultivate regional innovative system. On this basis, the authors analyze two cases of old industrial bases on their constniction-Tiexi Industrial District in Shenyang City and Changchun Industrial Economic Development Zone. Finally, the authors put forward some suggestions that should be regarded, which include: 1) to combine industrial location reconstruction and enterprises' inner reform; 2) to speed up adjustment of resources and opening to the world; 3) to combine government mechanism with the market mechanism properly.展开更多

The relationship between economic organizations in the industrial cluster is similar to the relationship of species in ecological system, and symbiotic reciprocity, competition and cooperation are the basic. The ecological development is mainstream and direction of industrial cluster. In this paper, firstly, we studied the ecological symbiosis growth model of industry cluster, and tbund it being according to logistic growth model; secondly, we studied the growth and reproduction of economic organizations in industrial cluster in three different cases, which with only competition relations, only beneficial relations, and both competition and beneficial cooperation relationship between economic organizations, and finally, we determined the number of economical organizations when the industrial cluster attained ecological equilibrium.展开更多

The improvement in synthetic skills has led to many successful syntheses of nanostructures including zerodimensional (0D) nanoclusters, one-dimensional (1D) nanowires, two-dimensional (2D) nanosheets and other higher-level complex nanostructures, where cluster-assembly of primary nanocrystals is a common process. In this review, progress in ultrathin nanocrystals in the last decade and several important factors in the growth mechanisms are covered. By giving examples of cluster assembly from 1D to 3D nanostructures, the utility of cluster assembly in the synthesis of new materials has been demonstrated.展开更多

In particular, microorganism systems have served as model systems for observing dynamic assembly and collective motility of active particles and significant progresses have been made on in-depth understanding of how high density bacteria colony behaves in the non-equilibrium state. In this mini-review, we mainly focus on the collective motion of bacteria and their dynamic assembly from four aspects: (1) the general phenomenon and biological mechanism of bacterial collective motion; (2) the common experimental techniques for studying bacterial motility; (3) some active systems on exploring bacterial collective behavior, which include both non-restricted free suspensions and those in relative confined geometric space; (4) the phenomenological and descriptive statistical methods and physical models on the underlying laws that lead to large-scale coordinate patterns in multicellular systems. This review aims to give a general picture of the collective motion in bacterial active matter systems experimentally and theoretically in order to reflect the interplays between individuals among populations in motion. It is expected that the general regulation rules related to the boundary effects in the complex systems and materials can be elucidated to some extent.展开更多

The (H2O)16 cluster is composed of two pairs of edge-sharing (H2O)5 rings attached to one (H2O)4 core with twenty hydrogen bonds. Alternatively, the (H2O)16 cluster is structurally similar to a complicated hydrocarbon generated by undergoing [2+2] cycloaddition of 1,2,3,4,5,6-hexahydropentalene, which reveals the resemblance between water clusters and organic compounds.展开更多
