The complex characteristics of the integral variable and segmentation of the integral intervals are discussed in m complex plane. In θ space, the interval [-π/2+φ,-π/2+φ-iε] is dominant in the near-field flow, and there is a one-to-one correspondence between the real intervals in m space and the unsteady wave patterns in far field. If 4τ>1(τ is the Brard number), there are three kinds of propagation wave patterns such as ring-fan wave pattern, fan wave pattern and inner V wave pattern, and if 0<4τ<1, a ring wave pattern, an outer V and inner V wave pattern are presented in far field. The ring-fan or ring wave pattern corresponds to the interval [-π+α,-π/2+φ] for integral terms about k2, and the fan or outer V wave pattern and inner V wave pattern correspond to [-π+α,-π/2) and(-π/2,-π/2+φ] respectively for terms about k1. Numerical result shows that it is beneficial to decompose the unsteady wave patterns under the condition of τ≠0 by converting the integral variable θ to m. In addition, the constant-phase curve equations are derived when the source is performing only pulsating or translating.展开更多
The calculation of the meridional overturning streamfunction in the southern Indian Ocean is biased by the Indonesian Throughflow.Therefore,this study applies the vertical overturning streamfunction to diagnose the sh...The calculation of the meridional overturning streamfunction in the southern Indian Ocean is biased by the Indonesian Throughflow.Therefore,this study applies the vertical overturning streamfunction to diagnose the shallow overturning circulation in the Indian Ocean.Using the Ocean General Circulation Model for the Earth simulator output,improvements with the vertical overturning streamfunction compared with the meridional overturning streamfunction are explored.The results show that the vertical overturning streamfunction smoothly connects the shallow overturning circulations of the northern Indian Ocean and the southern Indian Ocean with the whole cycle of the subtropical cell and the cross-equatorial cell.The vertical overturning streamfunction shows a much cleaner shallow overturning circulation,which is underestimated by the meridional overturning streamfunction.It shows that the shallow overturning circulation has a magnitude of~13 Sv(1 Sv≡106 m 3 s−1),of which the subtropical cell accounts for~8 Sv.In addition,the vertical overturning streamfunction captures a clockwise overturning cell in the upper 600 m layer between 30°S and 34°S.This cell has a magnitude of about−5 Sv and probably corresponds to the wind-forced subtropical gyre.Therefore,the vertical overturning streamfunction provides a new approach for estimating the shallow overturning circulation in the Indian Ocean.展开更多

The variation between the outside and inside lapel patterns after the lapel being folded was observed and measured. Besides,many factors leading to the variation were analyzed. Then the relation between fold angle and fabric thickness,and the variation of fabric thickness were obtained. The experimental results prove that the biggest horizontal variation between the outside lapel and inside lapel is at the breast line,and when the measuring point is above (or below) the breast line level,the farther it is away from the level,the smaller the variation becomes. In addition,conclusions can be drawn that the thicker the fabric is,the bigger the curve variation will be,and there is a certain mathematic relation between them.展开更多

Previous archival research on the value relevance of FCTAs has documented a weak or non-existent link between FCTAs and firm valuation (Pinto, 2005). The hypothesized reasons could reside in the econometric method employed, in the use of as-if numbers, and in the missing consideration of the differential effect that exchange rate changes have on firms of varying levels of capital intensiveness. This study adds to the existing literature by empirically testing the value relevance of as-reported FCTAs numbers in the earnings and book value model the Ohlson-like interacted model through panel data techniques. The main finding of this study is that as-reported FCTAs are significantly and incrementally value-relevant, when their parameter estimates are allowed to vary in the cross-section.展开更多

METHODS: The translation process included forw...AIM: To assess the reliability and validity of the translated version of Nepean Dyspepsia Index (NDI) in Chinese patients with documented functional dyspepsia (FO). METHODS: The translation process included forward translation, back translation, pretest and cross-cultural adaptation. Reliability and validity of the translated version were examined by asking 300 subjects to complete the Chinese version of the NDI. The mean age of subjects was 39.24 years and 68.7% of the subjects were women. Internal consistency analysis with Cronbach's α was performed to test the reliability. Correlation analysis was used to assess the content validity. Factor analysis and structural equation models were used to assess the construct validity. RESULTS: The Cronbach's α coefficients ranged 0.833-0.960, well above the acceptable level of 0.70. Correlation analysis showed that each item had a strong correlation with the corresponding domain, but a weak correlation with other domains. Confirmatory factor analysis indicated that the comparative fit index was 0.94, higher than the acceptable level of 0.90.CONCLUSION: The Chinese version of the NDI is a reliable and valid scale for measuring health-related quality of life and disease severity in Chinese patients with FD.展开更多

In this paper we propose a simple approach for building transliteration editors for Indian languages using Unicode and by taking advantage of its rendering engine. We demonstrate the usefulness of the Unicode based approach to build transliteration editors for Indian languages, and report its advantages needing little maintenance and few entries in the mapping table, and ease of adding new features such as adding letters, to the transliteration scheme. Using the technique of smooth filtering and cylindrical filtering,the initial vortex circulation and large-scale environmental field were separated from the background field.Then the separated initial vortex circulati...Using the technique of smooth filtering and cylindrical filtering,the initial vortex circulation and large-scale environmental field were separated from the background field.Then the separated initial vortex circulation was translated and reinserted in the location where it was observed.This led to the determination of a method of initial vortex relocation.For seven tropical cyclones at 23 points of measurement time in the years of 2006 and 2007,two schemes,either directly adding a tropical cyclone bogus model in the background or adding it after the relocation of the initial vortex in the background field,were employed.Simulation experiments were compared.The results showed that the mean errors of the simulated tropical cyclone tracks at 24 and 48 hours were both smaller with the scheme of adding tropical cyclone bogus model after the relocation of the initial vortex in the background field.The relocation method of the initial vortex decreases the error caused by the deviation of the initial tropical cyclone location in tropical cyclone models.The relocation method is conducive to improving the track forecast of tropical cyclone models and has a good perspective for operational application.展开更多
Cosmic radiation has several effects on the On-Board Processing(OBP)platform in satellite communications systems,and Single Event Upsets(SEUs)are one of its most important effects.In order to protect the Finite Impuls...Cosmic radiation has several effects on the On-Board Processing(OBP)platform in satellite communications systems,and Single Event Upsets(SEUs)are one of its most important effects.In order to protect the Finite Impulse Response(FIR)filters against SEU,this paper proposes a novel Residue Number(RN)-based method.The proposed method applies the transpose form of the FIR filter to avoid the fault missing caused by SEU on shift registers.It also adjusts the input intelligently to avoid the fault missing caused by SEU on the filter coefficients.After all the fault missing events are avoided,the modulus can be minimised to achieve the minimum overhead.Theoretical analysis and simulation results show that the noise introduced by the input adjustment is negligible.Fault injection shows that the fault missing rate of the proposed method is zero.Finally,FPGA implementation shows that the overhead of the proposed method is approximately 75% of Triple Modular Redundancy,and is only 1%-2% higher than that of the traditional RN-based design.展开更多

This work is based on the Ordered Cluster Binary Tree (OCBT) structure created using a top-down or divisive clustering method. The OCBT structure allows fast and efficient sub volume queries to be made in combination with level of detail (LOD) queries of the tree. The initial partitioning of the large out-of-core dataset is done by using non-axis aligned planes calculated using Principal Component Analysis (PCA). A hybrid OCBT structure is also proposed where an in-core cluster binary tree is combined with a large out-of-core file.展开更多

Next bonnding boxes are processed by a new “Expand, Break and Merge” (EBM) method to get the precise text areas. Finally, text is binarized by a hybrid method based on Otsu and Niblack. This new approach can extract different kinds of text from complicated natural scenes. It is insensitive to noise, distortedness, and text orientation. Yang Hui was one of the most important authors of mathematical works during the thirteenth century.Mathematical Methods Explaining in Detail The Nine Chapters(Xiangjie jiuzhang suanfa詳解九章算法,1261 CE)is the earlie...Yang Hui was one of the most important authors of mathematical works during the thirteenth century.Mathematical Methods Explaining in Detail The Nine Chapters(Xiangjie jiuzhang suanfa詳解九章算法,1261 CE)is the earliest extant work attributed to Yang Hui.From the thirteenth to the fifteenth century,this work played a crucial role in the circulation and popularization of The Nine Chapters on Mathematical Procedures(Jiuzhang suanshu九章算术).However,the only surviving printed edition of Mathematical Methods is incomplete and contains many mistakes obstructing contemporary researchers'understanding of this work.The "Fangcheng" chapter of The Nine Chapters deals with problems related to solving what today are known as simultaneous sets of linear equations.However,interpreting the text in this chapter of Mathematical Methods and recovering the mathematical practices relating to fangcheng are difficult.Through detailed textual and mathematical analyses,the author of this paper explains Yang Hufs understanding and practice relating to〃the fangcheng method"and"the method of the positive and the negative".This paper includes an appendix that provides a detailed translation of the ambiguous text relating to"the method of the positive and the negative"and gives reasons supporting the interpretation provided here.Yang Hufs understanding of the concepts of"positive"and"negative"and his practice relating to these two concepts may easily be confused with their apparent counterparts in modem mathematics.Also,careful analysis of the mathematical methods in this work reveal that the order of problems in Yang Hufs Reclassifications of Mathematical Methods Explaining in Detail The Nine Chapters([Xiangjie jiuzhang suanfa zuanlei詳解九章算法纂類],namely,the last section of Mathematical Methods)were rearranged according to commentaries to specific methods that appear in Mathematical Methods.Some textual clues referring to the zzprevious question"(qianwen前問)in certain commentaries of Mathematical Methods indeed reflect the order of problems in Reclassifications.Yang Hui made especially detailed commentaries on the problems that he arranged in a sequence that differs with respect to the original order of problems as they appear in the ancient classic work,The Nine Chapters.All these discoveries reveal and serve to prove a close relationship between Yang Hufs Mathematical Methods and his Reclassifications.展开更多

Although they conjectured that these constructions can potentially resist quantum computing attack, they...Recently, Mao, Zhang, Wu et al. constructed two key exchange(KE) protocols based on tensor ergodic problem(TEP). Although they conjectured that these constructions can potentially resist quantum computing attack, they did not provide a rigorous security proof for their KE protocols. In this paper, applying the properties of ergodic matrix, we first present a polynomial time algorithm to solve the TEP problem using O(n^6) arithmetic operations in the finite field, where n is the security parameter. Then, applying this polynomial time algorithm, we generate a common shared key for two TEP-based KE constructions, respectively. In addition, we also provide a polynomial time algorithm with O(n^6) arithmetic operations that directly recovers the plaintext from a ciphertext for the KE-based encryption scheme. Thus, the TEP-based KE protocols and their corresponding encryption schemes are insecure.展开更多

Scholars from post-colonial nations like Canada, India, China, Africa, and Latin America hav...Since the 1980s and 1980s, a new trend in the discipline of Translation Studies has emerged beyond the boundaries of Europe. Scholars from post-colonial nations like Canada, India, China, Africa, and Latin America have argued that translation was used in the past as a means of depriving the colonised people of their voice. In the colonial structure, the hegemonic culture used to dominate, making the others subservient. Translation in the colonial period reflected that hierarchy. In this light, decades after the independence of India, translation from a reverse direction, that is, rendering popular English texts in minority languages, may be seen as a process of"writing back". Even if the original text concerned is not a "political" writing, and the translation is apparently meant for "safer-zones" such as "young students' literature", a tendency of claiming cultural equality, overlapping the translator's own cultural and literary heritage with the original author's, can be discovered. This paper attempts to focus on these issues in a particular text—the 1995 Bengali translation of Marie Corelli's 1921 science-fiction, The Secret Power. The objective of this study is to show that the Double-Wayland algorithm can distinguish between time series generated by a deterministic process and those generated by a stochastic process. The authors conducted numerical analysis of the van der Pol equation and a stochastic differential equation as a deterministic process and a Ganssian stochastic process, respectively. In case of large S/N ratios, the noise term did not affect the translation error derived from time series data, but affected that from the temporal differences of time series. In case of larger noise amplitudes, the translation error from the differences was calculated to be approximately 1 using the Double-Wayland algorithm, and it did not vary in magnitude. Furthermore, the translation error derived from the differenced sequences was considered stable against noise. This novel algorithm was applied to the detection of anomalous signals in some fields of engineering, such as the analysis of railway systems and bio-signals.展开更多

The OCBT structure allows fast and efficient sub volume queries to be made in combination with level of detail (LOD) queries of the tree. The initial partitioning of the large out-of-core dataset is done by using non-axis aligned planes calculated using Principal Component Analysis (PCA). A hybrid OCBT structure is also proposed where an in-core cluster binary tree is combined with a large out-of-core file.
文摘This paper presents a new method for text detection, location and binarization from natural scenes. Several morphological steps are used to detect the general position of the text, including English, Chinese and Japanese characters. Next bonnding boxes are processed by a new “Expand, Break and Merge” (EBM) method to get the precise text areas. Finally, text is binarized by a hybrid method based on Otsu and Niblack. This new approach can extract different kinds of text from complicated natural scenes. It is insensitive to noise, distortedness, and text orientation. It also has good performance on extracting texts in various sizes.

文摘Yang Hui was one of the most important authors of mathematical works during the thirteenth century.Mathematical Methods Explaining in Detail The Nine Chapters(Xiangjie jiuzhang suanfa詳解九章算法,1261 CE)is the earliest extant work attributed to Yang Hui.From the thirteenth to the fifteenth century,this work played a crucial role in the circulation and popularization of The Nine Chapters on Mathematical Procedures(Jiuzhang suanshu九章算术).However,the only surviving printed edition of Mathematical Methods is incomplete and contains many mistakes obstructing contemporary researchers'understanding of this work.The "Fangcheng" chapter of The Nine Chapters deals with problems related to solving what today are known as simultaneous sets of linear equations.However,interpreting the text in this chapter of Mathematical Methods and recovering the mathematical practices relating to fangcheng are difficult.Through detailed textual and mathematical analyses,the author of this paper explains Yang Hufs understanding and practice relating to〃the fangcheng method"and"the method of the positive and the negative".This paper includes an appendix that provides a detailed translation of the ambiguous text relating to"the method of the positive and the negative"and gives reasons supporting the interpretation provided here.Yang Hufs understanding of the concepts of"positive"and"negative"and his practice relating to these two concepts may easily be confused with their apparent counterparts in modem mathematics.Also,careful analysis of the mathematical methods in this work reveal that the order of problems in Yang Hufs Reclassifications of Mathematical Methods Explaining in Detail The Nine Chapters([Xiangjie jiuzhang suanfa zuanlei詳解九章算法纂類],namely,the last section of Mathematical Methods)were rearranged according to commentaries to specific methods that appear in Mathematical Methods.Some textual clues referring to the zzprevious question"(qianwen前問)in certain commentaries of Mathematical Methods indeed reflect the order of problems in Reclassifications.Yang Hui made especially detailed commentaries on the problems that he arranged in a sequence that differs with respect to the original order of problems as they appear in the ancient classic work,The Nine Chapters.All these discoveries reveal and serve to prove a close relationship between Yang Hufs Mathematical Methods and his Reclassifications.

文摘Recently, Mao, Zhang, Wu et al. constructed two key exchange(KE) protocols based on tensor ergodic problem(TEP). Although they conjectured that these constructions can potentially resist quantum computing attack, they did not provide a rigorous security proof for their KE protocols. In this paper, applying the properties of ergodic matrix, we first present a polynomial time algorithm to solve the TEP problem using O(n^6) arithmetic operations in the finite field, where n is the security parameter. Then, applying this polynomial time algorithm, we generate a common shared key for two TEP-based KE constructions, respectively. In addition, we also provide a polynomial time algorithm with O(n^6) arithmetic operations that directly recovers the plaintext from a ciphertext for the KE-based encryption scheme. Thus, the TEP-based KE protocols and their corresponding encryption schemes are insecure.
文摘Since the 1980s and 1980s, a new trend in the discipline of Translation Studies has emerged beyond the boundaries of Europe. Scholars from post-colonial nations like Canada, India, China, Africa, and Latin America have argued that translation was used in the past as a means of depriving the colonised people of their voice. In the colonial structure, the hegemonic culture used to dominate, making the others subservient. Translation in the colonial period reflected that hierarchy. In this light, decades after the independence of India, translation from a reverse direction, that is, rendering popular English texts in minority languages, may be seen as a process of"writing back". Even if the original text concerned is not a "political" writing, and the translation is apparently meant for "safer-zones" such as "young students' literature", a tendency of claiming cultural equality, overlapping the translator's own cultural and literary heritage with the original author's, can be discovered. This paper attempts to focus on these issues in a particular text—the 1995 Bengali translation of Marie Corelli's 1921 science-fiction, The Secret Power. The purpose of this paper is to explore how Sudhindranath Raha has intermingled Biblical references and Western contexts with allusions to Indian culture and Sanskrit literature, thereby claiming a space for mutual understanding and respect between two cultures.
文摘The Wayland algorithm has been improved in order to evaluate the degree of visible determinism for dynamical systems that generate time series. The objective of this study is to show that the Double-Wayland algorithm can distinguish between time series generated by a deterministic process and those generated by a stochastic process. The authors conducted numerical analysis of the van der Pol equation and a stochastic differential equation as a deterministic process and a Ganssian stochastic process, respectively. In case of large S/N ratios, the noise term did not affect the translation error derived from time series data, but affected that from the temporal differences of time series. In case of larger noise amplitudes, the translation error from the differences was calculated to be approximately 1 using the Double-Wayland algorithm, and it did not vary in magnitude. Furthermore, the translation error derived from the differenced sequences was considered stable against noise. This novel algorithm was applied to the detection of anomalous signals in some fields of engineering, such as the analysis of railway systems and bio-signals.

文摘The technological breakthroughs in generative artificial intelligence,represented by ChatGPT,have brought about significant social changes as well as new problems and challenges.Generative artificial intelligence has inherent flaws such as language imbalance,algorithmic black box,and algorithmic bias,and at the same time,it has external risks such as algorithmic comfort zone,data pollution,algorithmic infringement,and inaccurate output.These problems lead to the difficulty in legislation for the governance of generative artificial intelligence.Taking the data contamination incident in Google Translate as an example,this article proposes that in the process of constructing machine translation ethics,the responsibility mechanism of generative artificial intelligence should be constructed around three elements:data processing,algorithmic optimisation,and ethical alignment.
