The leisure life quality evaluation index system of urban elderly people can be built based on these analyses. In order to accommodate the development tendency of elderly people's demand for leisure diversification, we should strengthen the organization and manage- ment of elderly people's leisure activity in urban construction, and pay more attention to function complementation between commu- nities and parks.展开更多

This paper discusses these topics by data based on two waves of social surveys, a baseline in 2000 and a follow-up in 2006 named "The Sample Survey on Aged Population in Urban/Rural China (SSAPUR)". During the six years, the increasing speed of medical expenditure is rapid. The payout of medical expenditure of older people in 2000 was more conservative than that in 2006. Gender and urban-rural differences were also evident with regard to the compensation ratio of medical expenditure; older males and all urban older people had higher compensation ratios than elderly females and the rural older people, respectively. Compensation ratio also increased at age, as well as at education and income levels. Inequalities increased over the six-year period between surveys except when analyzed by area of residence and income levels. A comparison of factors affecting medical expenditure showed that the differences in medical expenditure between 2000 and 2006 had increased, though the influencing factors seemed to have become more reasonable.展开更多

To optimize the structure of sports population, the government needs to increase public investment in sports venues and facilities and publicity of the national fitness program, using legislation to protect off work time and raising the minimum income standards, and urging enterprises to set staff room, sports venues and facilities.展开更多

It also explores the relationship between social exclusion and quality of life. The researcher collected questionnaire data in one Shanghai and one comparable Hong Kong community. The survey included 460 older adults from a community in Shanghai and 250 older adults from a community in Hong Kong. The Shanghai sampling was stratified while the Hong Kong samphng was multi-step random sampling. Both processes are representative. Functional capacity and disability had a significant relationship with the quality of life of older adults. This implies that the social environment is not inclusive for disabled older adults in many ways. Neighborhood exclusion stood out as the most significant form of social exclusion. Although disability is more and more commonly understood as an element of human diversity, the disabled are still not fully functional in society. There are still many environmental barriers and social conditions that need to be improved to achieve community inclusion. Suggestions for how to achieve an inclusive society for all and especially for the disabled elderly are discussed.展开更多
