In addition, the system adopts the method of the relative measurement which increases the precision and the velocity.More importantly, the precision cant be changed with the conditions of the temperature and air pressure. The experiments show that the relative precision of 0.002 9 and the absolute precision of 2.97 μm are obtained. The instrument may be used in the product line and make the testing on line possible.展开更多

Network elements are described by space-clamped FitzHugh- Nagumo (SCFHN) neurons with the values of parameters at which no firing activity occurs. It is found that for a given appropriate coupling strength, there is an intermediate range of system size where the firing activity of globally coupled SCFHN neural network is induced and enhanced. On the other hand, for a given intermediate system size level, there exists an optimal value of coupling strength such that the intensity of firing activity reaches its maximum. These phenomena imply that the coupling strength and system size play a vital role in firing activity of neural network.展开更多

The effective stress state changes due to the resulting pore pressure change and therefore, the strength and stiffness of the soil will change. In this work, the finite element method is utilized as a tool for the analysis of pile-soil systems in undrained condition. The computer program CRISP was developed to suit the problem requirements. CRISP uses the finite element technique and allows predictions to be made of ground deformation using critical state theories. Eight-node isoparametric element was added to the program in addition to the slip element. A pile loading problem was solved in which the pile-soil system is analyzed in undrained condition. The pile is modelled as elastic-plastic material, while the soil is assumed to follow the modified Cam clay model. During undrained loading condition, the settlement values increase by 22% when slip elements are used. The surface settlement increases by about three times when the load is doubled and the surface settlement at all points increases when using slip elements due to the mode of motion which allows smooth movement of the adjacent soil with respect to the pile. The vertical displacement increases as the distance decreases from the pile and negligible values are obtained beyond 10D (where D is the pile diameter) from the center of the pile and these values are slightly increased when slip elements are used. The vertical effective stress along a section at a distance D from the pile center is approximately the same for all load increments and lower values of effective vertical stress can be obtained when slip elements are used.展开更多

In this paper we study this problem from the perspective of solution space coupling. We divide a given difficult random K-SAT formula into two easy sub-formulas and let the two corresponding solution spaces to interact with each other through a coupling field x. We investigate the statistical mechanical property of this coupled system by mean field theory and computer simulations. The coupled system has an ergodicity-breaking (clustering) transition at certain critical value Xd of the coupling field. At this transition point, the mean overlap value between the solutions of the two solution spaces is very close to 1. The mean energy density of the coupled system at its clustering transition point is less than the mean energy density of the original K-SAT problem at the temperature-induced clustering transition point. The implications of this work for designing new heuristic K-SAT solvers are discussed.展开更多

The sensor relies on repetitive variation of inductance against displacement caused by the change of coupling areas between moving coils and static reflectors. The investigations focused on setting up and utilizing a computer model of the 3D eddy current fields and geometry to analyze causes of the production of measurement blind areas, and to investigate effects of the sensor parameters, such as axial gap between coils and reflectors, reflector length and reflector width on characteristics of the sensor. Simulation results indicated that the sensor has the smallest nonlinearity error of 0.15%, which agrees well with the experimental results.展开更多
