Several methods, such as standard addition, isotopically labeled internal standards, clean-up of SPE (solid phase extraction) eluents by dispersive graphitized carbon sorbent and substitution of eletrospray ionization (ESI) source by atmosphere pressure photoionization (APPI) source, were demonstrated for elimination of matrix effects in quantitative analysis of PFAs in solid samples. The resuRs indicate that matrix effects can be effectively eliminated by standard addition, but instrumental analysis time will be multiplied. Isotopically labeled internal standards can effectively negate matrix effects of PFAs with the same perfluorocarbon chain length, but is not valid for the other analytes. Although APPI can eliminate matrix effects for all analytes, it is only suitable for analysis of high pollution levels samples. Clean-up of SPE eluents by dispersive graphitized carbon sorbent not only effectively negate the impact of matrix effect, but also avoid frequent clean of the ESI in order to maintain instrumental sensitivity. Therefore, the best method for elimination of matrix effects is the usage of dispersive graphitized carbon sorbent for clean-up of SPE elution.展开更多

Octahedral Pd nanocrystals, enclosed by {111} facets, should be the ideal geometrical shape for Heck coupling reactions; however, it is challenging to synthesize 5 nm Pd octahedrons with a relatively uniform size distribution using existing capping-agent techniques. Here, we used palladium as a model system to investigate how the kinetics of atomic addition could be precisely controlled using a syringe pump. As a result, our method produced Pd octahedrons as small as 5 nm, which increased the catalytic efficiency of Heck coupling reactions while reducing the weight of catalyst used.展开更多

Below the structural transition at Ts - 90 K, the reflectivity spectrum clearly shows a gradual suppression around 400 cm-1 and the conductivity spectrum shows a peak at higher frequency. The energy scale of this gap-like feature is comparable to the width of the band splitting observed by ARPES. The low-frequency conductivity consists of two Drude components and the overall plasma frequency is smaller than that of the FeAs based compounds, suggesting a lower cartier density or stronger correlation effect. The plasma frequency becomes even smaller below Ts which agrees with the very small Fermi energy estimated by other experiments. Similar to iron pnictides, a clear temperature-induced spectral weight transfer is observed for FeSe, being indicative of strong correlation effect.展开更多

The dispersion characteristics of surface electrostatic oscillations are investigated by using the typical values of Ga As, Ga Sb and Ga N semiconductors. Numerical results show the existence of one low-frequency branch due to the mass difference between the electrons and holes in addition to one high-frequency branch due to charge-separation effects.展开更多
