Few empirical studies, however, have explored t...Many studies have qualitatively explained that information and communication technology(ICT) has loosened the restrictions of distance and space on retailers' sales. Few empirical studies, however, have explored the impact of shipping distance on online retailers' sales. This study examined the Maiyang(M-Y) store on Tmall in China as a case study to investigate the relationship between shipping distance and sales. The results showed that sales volume in 2014 at the county level did not strictly obey the distance decay law. The shipped distance of high-priced commodities may not be much longer than that of low-priced commodities. Within the scope of investigation, the relationships between income, cost, and net profit curves do not follow central place theory. Goods have neither thresholds nor ranges. The key factor in the spatial discrepancy of sales is the size of market. The impact of shipping distance on sales is not as strong as that of traditional retailers in Information Era.展开更多

The FCC mechanism model was developed based on one set of commercial FCC data without using the promoter, and was modified by using another set of commercial FCC data with 3m% promoter in the catalyst inventory, and the calculations by means of this simulation model were performed to predict the data of the FCC unit containing 4m% promoter in the catalyst inventory. The test results showed that the calculated values agreed well with the data obtained from the commercial FCC unit, in which the deviations of calculated product yields versus the actual product yields at the commercial FCC unit were equal to 1.74 percentage points for gasoline, 2.59 percentage points for diesel, 1.50 percentage points for dry gas and LPG, and 0.28 percentage points for coke. The proposed method regarding the development of a simulation model and modifications to the model for commercial FCC unit was feasible.展开更多

These instruments not only create market-based incentives for environmentally friendly behaviors but also re...Wider use of economic instruments in the field of environmental and energy policy provides several benefits. These instruments not only create market-based incentives for environmentally friendly behaviors but also represent effective opportunities to collect revenues. In this context, energy and transport-related taxes play a major role, even if their extensive use has raised several concerns over equity issues. The main objective of the paper is to investigate the redistributive burden of existing transport taxes on Italian households. An incidence analysis is carried out on a sample of more than 23,000 Italian families for the year 2009. Some alternative policy options are also analyzed to provide some suggestions on how to countervail the potential negative regressive effects that might arise. We find that vehicle ownership taxes, if properly set, can represent a promising opportunity to blend together budget and equity needs. To obtain a better indication of the progressivity or regressivity of certain policy designs, we rely on some summary indexes, such as the Kakwani measure of progressivity and the Reynolds-Smolensky measure of redistributive capacity of a tax.展开更多
OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the add-on effect of Qinbei Qingfei Yiqi(QBQFYQ) granules for ventilator-associated pneumonia(VAP) in non-infectious critically ill patients.METHODS:In this randomized controlled trial, 80non-inf...OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the add-on effect of Qinbei Qingfei Yiqi(QBQFYQ) granules for ventilator-associated pneumonia(VAP) in non-infectious critically ill patients.METHODS:In this randomized controlled trial, 80non-infectious critically ill patients undergoing mechanical ventilation in the intensive care unit(ICU)were randomly divided into two groups:those receiving QBQFYQ granules plus usual treatment(experimental group, n = 50) and those receiving only the usual treatment(control group, n = 30).The main outcome measures were VAP rate, time of VAP occurrence, duration of mechanical ventilation,and length of ICU stay.Interleukin-6(IL-6), C-reactive protein(CRP), and T-lymphocyte(CD4+, CD8+,and CD4+/CD8+ ratio) serum levels were also evaluated before and after treatment.RESULTS:Compared with the control group treatment, QBQFYQ administration significantly reduced the duration of mechanical ventilation [(9.58± 3.14) vs(12.52 ± 4.33) days] and length of ICU stay [(14.57 ± 3.72) vs(17.82 ± 5.24) days] and delayed VAP occurrence [(4.31 ± 0.86) vs(2.43 ± 0.27)days].Additionally, CRP and IL-6 serum levels and CD4+/CD8+ ratio were significantly lower in the experimental group(P < 0.05) than in the control group.However, there were no significant differences in hospital mortality rate(30.0% vs 33.3%) and adverse events(4.0% vs 6.7%).CONCLUSION:QBQFYQ delays the time of VAP occurrence and shortens the duration of mechanical ventilation in non-infectious critically ill patients,possibly through anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory mechanisms.展开更多

A new method named continuous connectivity detection and a new model named approximate regular polygon (ARP) were proposed for connection skeleton extraction. Both the method and the model were tested by the real maps of road network including flyovers, interchanges and other common object contours. Satisfactory results were obtained.展开更多
